Romo has always worried me in critical situations (and leadership), now, I am concerned with the fact that I am actually seeing his skills as a QB diminish before my eyes.

Yeah, what I saw today was much different than poor decision making. He looked weak and skittsh

He looks a lot like Matt Schaub. Even texans fans were defending him after his first few games last year. It wasn't until the Seattle game and Sherman's game winning pick six that the entire city turned on him and the season took a nose dive. Expect a similar scenario here. He'll have his defenders until it's so obvious he's done even the blindest homer won't speak up.

I've got my money on the texans game after Watt and Clowney put him into the ground a few times we'll see the end of the Romo era

That's easily the worst Romo has ever looked.

His M.O. is to look fantastic all game, then make a couple of bonehead decisions that screws everything up.

Today he was just awful from start to finish. Poor throws, poor field awareness, poor decision making. I can't think of one good throw he made all day. He literally just threw up 4 or 5 prayers into double/triple coverage because he didn't know what else to do.

I've been a Romo supporter from day one, and my post history here will attest to that, but today was just brutal.

+1.

Perspective.

Romo's rating today was 60.8.

Sub-70 ratings, career
Brees 39
PManning 35
Brady 30
Romo 17

The question is, Is this an aborration, or is this going to be the norm for 2014? Stay tuned.

If Romo keeps throwing those lobs up for grabs then it's going to be the norm. Very poor throws today all around.

I think a lot of us underestimated how much him missing practice, workouts, off season training, ect; would effect him, it's obvious he's not the same player as the previous years. Hopefully he can get it together soon because if not we'll be in for a long year. The reason we lost today was completely on Romo, honestly if Weeden played (silly I know) I think we either win that one or have a chance to pull it out late. I guess we'll take our lumps early this year and hopefully we can put it together late in the year, but I'm not getting my hopes up.

I agree with all of this except for the part about Weeden.

Why in the world would Cleveland do that?

I'm not sayng they will. Just an opinion and just venting. It's a name that comes to mind but if we are not going to pay Demarcus Ware for a mediocre season why should we give Romo another pass? Get Paytons heir Osweiler idk? Just tired of #9 at the moment.

I'll hold of again till mid season but if nothing changes we have to scratch our whole plan. It can't be another season with the same story leading up to next.

Romo really did suck this game. The play calling sucked some, too. They say you should always end on a positive note. Romo absolutely and positively sucked this game.

I like the run blocking for the most part, Dunbar needs to be used more, Street will be a player at some point, McClain is a stud even more so than I thought, OScan was missed. and the DL got more pressure than even I thought they could.

I don't think Romo's skills are in decline but I am wondering if there is a problem now. He didn't have much on the ball today. If this continues then......oops. This team is capable of winning some games if Romo doesn't continue to suck it up.

Some people on this board were saying that Romo didnt need preseason snaps or practice reps.

Yah maybe I was stretching it out just a little bit, but y'all get the point. He killed us today, he looked nothing like himself and now his back injury seems like a major concern now. I'm not going to lie, before this game I didn't think it was an issue at all, during the preseason he took some hits and looked good so I thought he was going to be fine ...

Its past time to draft a qb. Mariota looks like a better, faster version of map to me. I like him and he'd have a great situation here with all the weapons and a great OL. Its time!
That's the one great thing about investing in the O-line this year. I was mad that we didn't get Johnny, but we may actually stink it up enough this year to get a better QB next year. Having Mariota throwing behind that O-line to Dez and the rest of the weapons will be fun. Jerry regretting on missing out on Johnny may actually prompt him to draft a qb this time around. Even if Romo has a resurgence, we still have to plan for the future, because at his age, he's not going to hold up forever.

Romo does have a tendency to look bad once or twice each season, but he just didn't look very decisive out there. If he doesn't bounce back next week, this could be a VERY long season.

FWIW, Romo's rating in opening day games was 110 coming into this game.

I haven't read all of the comments yet, but Romo had excellent protection MOST of the game and he blew it. He had the yips when he had plenty of time and when he needed to get rid of the ball, he held onto it too long. They showed a closeup of him grimacing so yeah I'm worried about him. I hope this was just a bad game. I like having some hope before each game, but if Romo is going to continue like this, there is no hope.
