Pain or discomfort impacts decision making.

I do not believe that Romo is 100%. He's probably not close to that. That being said, if he's on the field, and taking snaps, then he should be considered 100%. Romo is tough, but he was a compromised player, and played like it today. He wasn't decisive in his throws or his reads. Many times, he was watching the pass rushers instead of looking down the field. He had a few occasions where he was looking behind himself, and acting surprised that the rush wasn't on top of him. His legs did not look steady under him, and he floated throws all game long. He hit two skinny posts early where he looked decisive, but after that, he was off the reservation.

If he's not 100%, and not 100% confident in his back, he shouldn't be playing. Romo, despite what he thinks, isn't helping the team if he's playing injured.

Agree completely with this. If you compare tape of this game with the Romo from a couple of years ago when he didn't have an Oline worth crap it would be stunningly different.

Hope this is rust.

Romo will still be able to put up numbers, because you have the titans and rams of the world, and he usually dominates those teams.
He was awful today but our back up is Brandon Weeden, Brandon freaking Weeden.
We won't win 6 games either way.
I'd love to see Weeden take over. That should make us easily a top 3 pick in the draft, and that's what we need.

I agree with a lot of points in this thread, but the Pats also lost tonight and people wont write off Brady as fast. Tonight I think Romo was knocking off the rust. I expect a 90 QBR performance from him next week.

Romo was terrible. Benching him won't help. I'd rather see him be awful and force them to draft for the future than let these scrubs behind him be the cause of our failures. I'll say, he was the main cause of this loss. Not because of a lack of zip on the ball but, for no reason than horrible reads and terrible throws. Very unlike him. At least 3 in a row unlike him. I hope it's rust from surgery and he bounces back but, he was awful. I will also agree that, the "zip" was gone. Or at least this game and in pre-season it was. I am certainly in panic mode. He has not shown me one Romo needle pass all pre and regular season. Not one. It's his strong game to thread the needle and put his receivers in position to make plays. I have not seen that once, post surgery. I understand it's one game but, it kills me to see my boy throw like that. I just don't see the Tony I am used to seeing and, that's not just an assessment from this game alone.

I couldn't believe we kept Dustin Vaughn on the 53. I'm praying he isn't being groomed as Romo part 2.

Chuck and Duck Tony was out early this year.....He's all we've got, but I am ready for the Romo era to end.

He's a good QB, but he's just not a winner.

The zip was lacking. Back surgery is a tricky injury to overcome. Can't pull plug after 1 game. On that note, Brady looks like he is on the downward slide as well

there is nobody else. hopefully he improves... it was one game... but i have concerns about his age, recent health, and his contract. Next year is the year to draft a QB... fsu, oregon, ucla, baylor... all have qbs we should watch....

I don't want to go into next season saying "there is nobody else"...even if he performs well the rest of this year... the clock is ticking...

Oh, man, to revisit all the overreaction to the Romo "minor surgery" threads!

Haha, good point, although if Romo plays like he did today we are still a 3 win team.

So Romo is just unlucky I guess. Three 1st rounders on O-line and he still has a horrible line which causes him to throw three 1st half INTs. And other QBs haven't been sacked 70 times in the past two seasons while still making the playoffs (Andrew Luck).

Quite a bit from what I saw. He didn't seem to have any sense of time at all. Now two of the sacks were not. They appeared to be blown blocks by linemen, Tyron most notably. Just a terrible performance by much of the offense in my opinion.
I was actually more surprised by the defensive line though. I really didn't think they would do as well as they did.
