AGAIN THOSE ELITE QB's ARE SO PLENTIFUL. Any or EVERY team can pick one up in any round in every draft they're that plentiful. Remember the raiders thought they had the next HOF QB and took him with the 1st pick in the draft. What was his name? Oh ya JaMarcus Russell. Lets take a look at some of those other QB's that teams thought they were getting an elite QB like Tim Couch, Jake Locker, Heath Shuler, Akili Smith, David Carr, Joey Harrington and the list could go on for days.

With our offense we dont need a Mahomes or Wilson type and lets be fair Dak isnt in their league, by a fair way.

Dak is a glorified Bus Driver, who is great on the open road but has difficulty when he gets in the parking lot. .

I see you want a 2000 raven team with Dilfer driving a bus but the HUGE problem is the Cowboys defense isn't ANYWHERE close to that raven defense. Leave the GM work to those that actually get paid for it.

Dalton could well have made that 3rd down to Lamb.

Its melodramatic to say we'd be starting over, Dak's nothing special. Most QB's could play with that offense and we'd have money available so that we wouldnt have to leave players of the standard of Terence Steele on the field.

We also need at least 2 LB's and id love to resign Aldon Smith....even with the raft of restructured contracts thats probably not going to be possible if we pay Dak.

Ceedee admitted to running the route too shallow, so I'm not sure if even the perfect pin point pass would have got him across the line. We can only guess... and its delusional to think we can find a "better" QB in the draft or free agency. We could get lucky, but thats a gamble... I mean look at the Browns, you truly want that?

KC didn't agree with your sticking with average and we see where it got them. Just say y'all are risk averse scaredy cats instead of this stay with Dak just because.

Like I said, and I quote... " Good QBs don't grow on trees, and you have to be truly lucky to find one, and even luckier to find one that's elite." Mahomes has the potential to be the greatest QB ever... literally. Dallas will not find that, sorry to say.

Actually he has. He was offensive rookie of the year and set an NFL record for the fewest picks (4) of any rookie QB that started all 16 games. He hold 3rd place of the fewest interceptions by any starting QB in one season.

A 'good' QB isnt worth $40m.... get another 'good' QB or even an average Bus Driver and improve the other weaknesses.

Making false statements and quoting out of context is victory to you? You must be hard up for victories to claim.

As for the money, first, that is irrelevant to the argument of whether he played well or not Sunday. He either did or he didn't, regardless of whether he had still been getting 4th round rookie pay or the $31 million he is getting this year, or the $40 million you are quoting without any supporting background. It's fabricating a point that really doesn't actually apply to the question of his play Sunday.

But second, where does the $40 million number come from? Nobody was reporting that. Overwhelmingly the stories were that the contract dispute was over the length of the deal, not that Dak was wanting dramatically more money than any other QB in the game. It seems those that keep repeating $40 million over and over are the ones more interested in pushing an agenda than having a fair minded discussion.

Dak is limiting this offense.

One of the things that stands out the most is that Prescott only threw the ball 30 times after dropping back from under center (he also attempted 90 play-action passes from that formation). A fair number of those 30 passes did not even require an actual drop back from center: some of them were quick screens thrown immediately after the snap.

A mere 17.7% of the passing plays called by Moore came when Prescott started under center (120 of 677), with 90 of those pass attempts coming off play-action.

Prescott attempted to execute a three-step, five-step, or seven-step drop on average of less than twice a game in 2019. That basic ratio has been true for every year that Prescott has been in the NFL...

The problems on defense aren't going to miraculously disappear with getting a cheap QB but you still want to do that so the defense isn't fixed AND the team weakens the most important position on the team. Does that fall under the old saying of less is more. Less QB talent is really more QB talent? Many people have been saying for years that the Cowboys should have been working on the defense, but then had they there would people that would have said this is now an offensive league so build the offense. The point is the team is not going to make everyone happy and this really irks to Prescott haters because the Cowboys are going to do whatever it takes to keep him.

total agreement Jake--i was so ticked when i saw they were going for it...for a sec i was hoping maybe they were trying for offsides until i saw ball hiked....that was not the place to be aggressive...tie the game...and then our defense was doing much better job anyway...then that real bad call on Gallup sunk us..it should have been us going for the win with either field goal or TD...still so ticked at that...and MM only patted himself on the back about it...i wanted him roasted

Huh? Guy was one of the best players on the field. Blame goes to the defense. Time to admit Lawrence is a joke. The LBs were terrible. Shultz was awful as well. Well earned loss for a loser organization. Still not on Dak though.

i agree very tired Lawrence taking 20 mil a year for one tackle in game..i just hope we dont get outcoached again against falcons...we were use to being outcoached with Garrett....hope its not a trend...i give lee-way to most players seeing
the limited practice time and no practice games....but being outcoached has nothing to do with that

First let me say that I was just as pissed as everyone that the Cowboys lost. But to say that if this happened that would happen. The defense was playing better in the 2nd half BUT that is no guarantee the rams wouldn't have used up a lot of time and march down the field and score. After all it would have been a rally cry for them too with the game on the line. Then because the pass to Gallup would have at the least tied up the game if things hadn't changed prior to that and at the best would have been a winning score, doesn't change what the replays show. Gallup as was seen by not one but two refs, FULLY extended his arm and that IS offensive PI. Again as much as I wish Gallup caught it cleanly, he did commit offensive PI. Those that want to play "what if" seem to forget that what if on the Goff pick when he got a hit to the head that the refs missed and the Cowboys got flagged for that and the pick would have been voided. That pick turn out to be the 3 points that pulled the Cowboys within 3 points.

What as turned out is some find it easier to blame the refs for losses over than admitting that the play of the team had much more to do with it. The Cowboys have had games where they were called for over a 100 yards worth of penalties and still won because the team did it despite what the refs called. No team will win the Super Bowl if they have to rely on the refs throwing flags on the other team nor will they if they keep getting getting flagged a lot themselves.

Okay, well if the $40 million is based on an assumption of what Dak will ask for after Watson's contract, how unreasonable is that? What has Watson accomplished that Dak hasn't?

That said, the idea that we would be better spending elsewhere makes some sense if the team can replace what Dak can do at a cheaper price. No question there. But that's the case with every high priced player. The problem is quality QBs, even those that are outside the realm of the "elite", aren't that easily replaced. There are more Blaine Gabberts. Jake Lockers, EJ Emmanuels and Paxton Lynch's that get drafted than Pat Mahomes or even Watson or Goff, especially if not drafting in the top 5-10.. And if competing for top free agents, it's not as if the price tag is going to be cheap.

As for not being good enough to lead us to the next stage, while I agree he isn't a Rodgers or Mahomes, history has shown that teams can win with a Flacco or Eli Manning. It's a little easier with a Mahomes or Rodgers, but those guys don't win every year, and Brady isn't going to win every 2nd or 3rd year anymore, so there should be more opportunities.
