If we want to look at pure prospects, I have to give the Red Sox the upper hand. IMHO, they have the best prospects available for trade. But the Yankees cannot be ruled out because they can offer more money than any other team.

Now before anyone chimes in with the fact that you can't include cash payments (above $1 million, I believe) in a trade, what the Yankees can do is offer to take on Vernon Wells who is due something like $100 million in the next 5 years. Quite a bit for a guy hitting .265 since 2007. Getting rid of that behemoth contract would be just as valuable to Toronto as any prospect. I think they would be willing to take less from NY than from Boston if NY is willing to take on Wells.

I think it depends on who and what the Jays like and want. The Yankees have several good young arms on the roster right now. How many would they be willing to trade? Who can say but I don't think it's just about minor league prospects.

I agree it's not just about minor leaguers.... I use the term "prospects" to include pretty much any young guy with low salary and several years left on his current contract. So Chamberlain or Buchholz, both of whom have been mentioned as part of any package Toronto may want, are still "prospects" even though right now they are each playing in the Bigs.

Varitek came over from Seattle in the same trade that got Derek Lowe, so you can take him off the list as well :D In what has got to be one of the worst trades in Mariners history, they gave up Jason Varitek and Derek Lowe for Heathcliff Slocumb.

Wow. Then it's even worse than I imagined. Funny how my Yankees are the ones who draw the disapproving glares. Hmmm.

I was reading somewhere that the Jays were interested in both Joba and Hughes but that the Yankees were not willing to consider both in a trade. I think it was for Halladay but it might have been for Arroyos. Can't remember. Getting old Rogah.

Wow some of you are just embarrassing. You act like the Yankees are the only team that spends money on impact players. They do a GREAT job of mixing both FA's and using their own homegrown talent.

Cubs-Soriano(Yankee product BTW).Ramirez,Lilly,,Harden,Bradley,Reed Johnson..AKA impact players BOUGHT from another team.

Mets-Johan,Delgado,Beltran,Krod,Putz,Shelffield,Castillo..AKA impact players even though alot of them are injured, therefore thats why they suck right now. BOUGHT from another team

Tigers-Ordonez,Cabrera,Edwin Jackson,Polanco,Guillan,Rodney,Everette.AKA impact player BOUGHT from another team.

GAYsox-Ortiz,Beckett,Bay,Varitek,Lowell,Drew,Penny,Smoltz,Baldelli,Laroach.AKA impact players BOUGHT from another team

Give me a ****ing break about the Yankees just buying players. There's a handfull of teams that do it. I'm tired of owning people and making them look stupid. Step up when you want to actually compete with me.

Just out of curiousity, why does it make you so upset? The Yankees use all assets at their availability to put the best team on the field, as do the Red Sox, Cubs, Cardinals, Angels, Dodgers, etc, etc. There's absolutely nothing wrong with that plan of attack, so don't let yourself get so worked up over the matter.

I'm not worked up at all. I just think it's unbelievable how people can actually write the things they write. It's kind of fun just owning them. It's easy.

Apparently getting mega-owned by statistics wasn't good enough.

As an aside, how many other teams does Slate bandwagon for? Cavs fan, Yanks fan...

You arn't capable of owning and if someone said you did it was because they arn't fond of me and will use any excuse to make me look bad. Nice try.

I was born and raised in the Bronx. I was a huge Andre Miller fan when he was drafted by the Cavs. Pre-LeBron. I don't bandwagon. I just had good taste when I was younger and stuck with them. It's just a coincidence that all the teams I like are legit. I simply can't help that. Nice attempt again...

Yes, I agree it's outrageous the things some people write... heck, earlier in this thread someone actually referred to the Red Sox as the "GAYsox"... I mean, can ya believe the idiocy that goes around..?!? :D

He is one of those guys that thinks he is right all of the time and owns everyone that disagrees with him. Obviously he is in denial.

I cited a bunch of numbers that laugh in the face of your ridiculous claim which you curiously avoided and keep shouting "haha! Owned!!11!"

Typical Yankee fan behavior.

Take the Phillies off the list
Well the Phillies better sign him to an extension or the trade may be for nought (well, except if they win the next 2 World Series!) :)

Dear John Daniels and Nolan Ryan,

Please don't trade Derek Holland, even if its for Roy Halladay. Thanks.
