Finished the latest season of The Crown last night. Still a really good show.

The girl that plays Princess Di is just amazing. Hell the entire casting as a whole (minus Tony Blair) is top notch.

Yeah, I think Peacock only has the old seasons available. The current season is on Paramount Network.

....and I think you have to have a satellite/cable account to access the new season.

It's made by Paramount, but streaming on Peacock, and the new season isn't available to stream on Paramount. It's one of the more confusing distributions of a show I've ever seen. Lol

Watching Willow in 4k UHD for nostalgia on Disney+for new the series is about to drop. Haters gonna hate but my God I love the original movie and am extremely excited for this new show!

I don't know if anyone is watching Manifest. I finished season 4 last night. Trust me, this is not a well written or acted show. It's really B movie stuff crammed into a 4 season series, and will probably go 1 or 2 more seasons.

It started with a really interesting concept, a science fiction mystery. This season there are parts which were intended to be serious, even thrilling, but they made me laugh because of the poor acting. At this point they are just dragging out the big mystery and it is getting stupid. They probably should have ended it with season 3, or even 2. It looks like they don't know how to end it or explain it so they just keep dragging it out until someone finally cancels it. I think it was originally an NBC production but it was cancelled and picked up by Netflix. I read the producers wanted it to be 6 seasons which to me is just way too much. It is time to wrap it up.

I thought it was canceled after season 3, had no idea there was another on Netflix. It was going nowhere fast anyways…..

Andor is really good and between this and The Mandolorian, they have managed to save the franchise for me. Someone in charge decided acting and writing were actually important.

I think Star Wars, DC Comics and Marvel became too dependent on the franchise name and thought they didn’t have to apply critical film making ingredients.

I hope so, but Obi-Wan Kenobi has some real inconsistencies in it. I’m hoping that Andor is a sign of quality things to come, but I’m not sure if it’s due to corporate decisions or Tony Gilroy specifically.

I wonder how much the accelerated effect of streaming has had on film companies? Do many view it as they do not have to be as good as they were because the streaming pool is crowded and for many, confusing?

I read yesterday that Netflix could have probably made 5X's the money if they left the new Knives Out in theaters or distributed it fully but they are more focused on the effect on Netflix.

Wednesday just beat Strangers Things 4 in streaming hours in the first week.

Has the industry spoiled us to just wait for the at home viewing? The Avatar numbers are going to be very revealing because they've put a lot of promotional dollars behind this and that is one of those better at the theater experiences but how many will actually do that?

I thought streaming would have effect but not like this and that damned pandemic created the perfect storm for it,

I’ve said this a bunch of times already, but the pandemic accelerated what was already happening in movie theaters. To get people to travel and pay for a big screen experience, there needs to be BIG STUFF happening on that screen.

Few are going to travel and pay to watch a talkie drama. And the box office clearly shows that. And some creators and directors are angry about that so they attack Marvel and the superhero genre.

I’m noticing a have-your-cake trend where films are getting a brief theatrical release for a week or two before they hit streaming platforms.

On the other hand, the conveinance and comfort of just walking to your living room, opening an app, and watching a movie in your pajamas is definitely attractive. With all of that said, admittedly, it does take a very desirable movie for me to go to the theaters these days.

I'm definitely hitting Avatar 2 in the theaters. The first Avatar was one of the best 3D movies I have ever seen and I am guessing this new one (hopefully) won't let us down.

I think you’re absolutely right and I think younger people still like to go to the movies regularly for a night out. Adults have more options for their nights out.

I still find going to the movies an enjoyable and special experience, especially when my whole family can go together. But we go for the big ‘event movies’ five or six times a year, not all the time.

Definitely. That’s a film and an experience MADE for the theater.

It was cancelled by NBC and picked up by Netflix. Yes, it goes nowhere fast, but season 4 goes nowhere a little faster.
