I loved 1883, from start to finish. I think Isabel Maye should have gotten an Emmy. She was believable as both, the rebellious daughter in the beginning, and as the tough cowboy, IMO.

Everyone played their role to perfection, the story was great and unpredictable, and the scenery was stunning.
Liked this one as well.
I actually binged again about a week ago.

Sure some of the love story stuff with the young lady was tiring.
But overall it was still a good western.

Only a couple of episodes in but so far it has kept my interest.
Lead here is the guy who played Victor on Fear the Walking Dead.

I really enjoyed the first two episodes of Skeleton Crew. Bringing some fun back to Star Wars finally.

Yeah....was geared toward the younger/family crowd.

It was not bad. Although the one alien kid of the group...wish they would have made him more lifelike and not so puppet like.

Agreed. It was kind of ironically funny when he actually said "look...Aliens. they look weird".

Beetlegeuse II is out on HBOMAX now. Watched it this weekend. Not as classic as the first one but good enough to watch. I enjoyed it.

Watched Skeleton Crew on Disney Plus. Didn’t realize it was more geared to kids but enjoyed the first two episodes. Best way to summarize this series is Goonies Meets Star Wars.

Exactly the description I gave to Skeleton Crew.

Anyone else notice the direct nod to the opening of A New Hope?

Just finished Penguin on Max. It was awesome.
Agreed. Really went in with low expectations but enjoyed it.
I will say that sometimes he sounded like Tony Soprano and also his mom reminded me a little of Tony's mom in the Sopranos.

Total departure from the Penguin in the original batman shows and the batman movie with Devito.

Yeah, it had a lot of Sopranos and Breaking Bad, but in those, you got to like the anti-hero. In this one, the more you watch, the more you hate him. Did you like The Batman? I thought that was awesome, as well. I had really low expectations for that one, as well.

After watching Penguin and then rewatching The Batman… dare I say…. I enjoy the Matt Reeves Batman-Verse better than the Christopher Nolan trilogy.

Wife and I started a new Netflix show last night called No Good Deed. It's got quite the cast. Linda Cardellini still looks fantastic for her age. It's a bit of a slow burn, but it's interesting enough that it sucked us in. We are about halfway through and I'm interested to see where this story goes.

Carry-On - Watched this tonight on Netflix. It's a "turn off your brain" kind of movie with some plot holes and illogical events, but overall I enjoyed it. I thought it was entertaining and had a suspenseful story that pulls you in pretty close from the start. Plus, I'm just a fan of all things Jason Bateman.

Definitely worth a watch if you're looking for a movie to sit down and enjoy. Just remember not to take it too seriously.

I watched "Churchill: At War" on Netflix. I found it interesting. Not a lot of new information but some interesting anecdotes.

I still find it confounding that Churchill basically saved England from German rule by not giving into Hitler when so many other Brits wanted to capitulate but when the war ended he was trounced in the election for Prime Minister. People are fickle.

This show reinforced the idea that Churchill was a lousy strategist but a great motivator.

When the series ended, I wondered what Churchill and Gen. George Patton thought of each other. They shared the idea that we should have turned what was left of the German military against Stalin and Russia.

I never like FDR. I liked him less after watching this docuseries.

Overall, this was an interesting watch. But be warned, it if focused on Churchill not on the war although there are ample war scenes. It is not an in depth view of the war.

Has anyone watched "Black Doves"? It is a series on netfllix. I watched the first episode. Its a spy thriller I guess, although in the first episode there are some basic spy craft things that indicate it might be stupid. For example, a sniper shoots some guy in a park in London. A spy figures out where the shot came from and goes to a balcony where he finds a shell casing presumably from a high powered sniper rifle. Imagine a guy sitting on an open balcony waiting for his target to come into sight so he could fire a shot, then leave his brass with finger prints on it for anyone to find.

I am wondering if this is not what really happened but I have to watch more to find out.
