I think you're correct. I remember that too. BEFORE the horrible ending of the last season, there were some ambitious plans. Not just fallout from the poor ending, but I also remember reading somewhere that the guys who created the show were paid by one of these other major franchises to make something. Want to say it was Marvel, but don't remember.

I'm pretty sure they were suppose to get a Star Wars movie/trilogy but once they no longer had book material and had to make their own scripts based on what Martin told them where he was going with the story, Lucasfilm backed out.

Good decision by Lucasfilm. GoT last season was a disaster, IMO. The ending was a major joke. But Martin has to share the blame. He was supposed to finish the book and I suspect even he didn't know how he wanted it to end so he wrote something down on a piece of paper and that's what wound up on the screen. My guess is Martin wanted the winner of the Throne to be a surprise, even a shock, which is why he ultimately decided Bran should get it. I can't imagine a single fan would have come up with that ending for the show, or liked it when they saw it.

IMO, the last season was just awful in almost every way. For me, it ruined the entire show. I feel the same way about the last season of the Sopranos.
 
Just finished e1 of Star Trek: Starfleet Academy

It's got a lot of promise, IMO. Some interesting characters, and I didn't realize it took place after the Burn.

I have to say, Holly Hunter is aging well.
 
His & Hers - Finished this up on Netflix last night. It was solid overall.......a bit cheesy at times, but entertaining enough to keep me watching. The plot twist was decent, though not one of those jaw-dropping moments that completely flips the show on its head. It’s definitely not in the top tier of series I’ve watched, but for a quick limited series, it was worth the time. Jon Bernthal was a standout and did a great job in his role, bringing a lot of weight and presence to the story. It's fair to say I'm a big fan of his acting.

I wouldn't tell anybody to run out and watch this series, but if you're looking for something new to watch that you can instantly wrap-up, it's a solid watch.
 
Anyone else kind of feeling that season two of Fallout has been kind of meh thus far?

I’ve been waiting for the episodes to stack before jumping in, and in fact, it looks like there’s only one episode left. I loved the first season, so it’ll be a bummer if season two can’t hold up.

Disclosure: I have never seen the game and I do not know the characters from the game.

In light of that I will say I do agree with you. I am enjoying it but it really is not that great. I see a little development in the Walton Goggins character, Cooper Howard - and he is great by the way, but I don't see anything different in Lucy and I would think by now she would have learned a thing or two. I suppose they want her to remain naïve to the real world to contrast to Cooper Howard's experience and understanding of the new reality they face.

I will finish it but season 1 was better - maybe it was just the novelty of it.

Just finished Wonder Man. To be honest, I kept hoping for a payoff at the end. I was bored through most of the show, to the point that I didn't really care about the troubles he was having. The only bright spot for me was Trevor. I love how his character has grown, from his Mandarin days, through Shang Chi, and into this.

I did like the final episode (predictable as it was), but the 7 episodes leading up to it could have been reduced to probably 3.
 
The RIP - Just watched this movie on Netflix and I thought it was a great watch. Solid suspense, well-timed twists, and it keeps you engaged the entire ride without dragging. It’s one of those movies that’s just fun, but still smart enough to keep you guessing. And honestly, who doesn't love an Affleck & Damon film? They’ve got that effortless chemistry that just works.

I recommend this one!
 
Just watched Hot Ones, which Jennie, formerly of BlackPink (not sure if that's how they spell it). I've never listened to her music, but after this episode, I'm a fan of the person.

Same here, but I feel that way only because it is thoroughly vetting the backstory for season three. This is one reason why I dislike short seasons for streaming series. I believe this season would have been better with 12 - 16 episodes, that would give an opportunity of tying all the slowly paced pieces together, instead of its standard eight episodes.

The first season played much better because the backstory was not as layered as this season's in my opinion. They could have chopped out a good bit of the subplots, but I would have made me ask more questions about why this or that was happening.

Not Ponies yet, although Emilia Clarke is the main reason I would give it a watch. I finished Wonder Man and enjoyed it a lot. They went with the lowkey comic book story approach to setup this updated version of Simon Williams. It is solidly in my top five Disney+/MCU live-action series list.

I like how they did not get away from the character originally being an actor. Matching Yahya Abdul-Mateen and Ben Kingsley together and having them play off each other's talents, solidly built a big part of Simon's origin story and who he is as an individual.

They did not do any deep dive into his abilities, actually doing a good amount of teasing about what he can do. Methinks that is partly intentional. General moviegoers have expressed dislike about characters introduced on Disney+ and not knowing who they are when they suddenly appear on the big screen. WM may be a new approach by the studio, namely, don't throw a lot onto the small screen, so non-comic book fans and non-Disney+ viewers see them for the first time in a movie and feel the need to question, "Now who the flip is THIS guy?" lol.
 
Finished Mad Men. Kind of boring, but the attention to detail and character development was great. Amazing cast, too. I wouldn’t say it’s best the best shows of all time, but worth a watch.
 
I watched the Witcher movie The Rats A Witcher Tale, or at least I tried to watch it. Apparently it is very popular but honestly I thought it was awful from the beginning to end. I didn't like the storyline of the Rats in the Witcher series and I have no idea why they would make a movie out of it. And why Dolph Lundgren as a new witcher? He has seen better days, but never great days as an actor.

Of all the characters to spin off into a movie - which in this case is a prequel to the last season, Ciri, or really The Rats would be the least interesting to me. A bunch of swashbuckling numbskulls with a drunken washed up witcher does not intrigue me at all. This is not really The Witcher story anyway. Lundgren's character could have been a Viking, pirate, Knight of the round table, or a Woodsman, if you followed those movies. For that matter, he could have been just a guy with a sword.

Netflix is in need of some better writing talent. Or maybe I am at the point where I have just seen all there is to see on TV.
