I would love to trade him but they will work with him to get him where he wants even if it means releasing him
My second option would be keep him but can't imagine he wants to end his career as a backup even though financially it would probably make him the most money
Tony has been a great player and leader for this team and it will hurt to see him in another uniform but it's a business and I will cheer for him as long as he isn't playing my boys

But what do you spend it on? The cap space only makes a difference is there is someone worth spending it on, and we haven't been spending money on days 1-3 of free agency.

That's not up to me to decide but I am sure we will be moderately active considering nearly half of our roster is scheduled to be a free agent and arguably the best player on the team (Martin) is entering the last year of his contract.

I doubt we go over the top but who knows when Jerry feels the pressure of feeling like we are "one player away".

Tony is not in the humiliation business, mates.
He does not want to be cut June 1.
He does not want to be a loser QB in Cleveland, Oakland or Denver dealing with a new system.
He wants to avoid another injury that will solidify his image as a fragile geezer.
Blimey! He will retire before June 1st and become our Danny White Lite.
I agree that retirement is a real possibility. It would certainly be the smartest decision, IMO.

Romo ain't worth **** on the open market. Everybody knows we aren't keeping him as a backup, thus they'll just wait til we release him.

Typical worthless Jerry Jones to get nothing out of a instant starter on another team. Waits too long and lets them walk for nothing.

After watching D. Ware walk away without compensation Jerry won't allow Romo to go the same.

At what point were the Cowboys suppose to trade him?

Oh, come off of it Jerry. Please don't tell us Tony is a guy who can go out there and win a Super Bowl while playing like Aaron Rodgers after you lost our only playoff game with him on the bench. If you really believe that you should fire yourself and Jason Garrett.

So true, that comment actually made me even more angry. To actually come out his mouth. That he is gonna win a super bowl. When in reality his best shot and ours was for him to play last week.

GAMBLER? A true gambler would have bucked the NFL world and started Romo this week. Playoffs are a different animal. IN 2016 all things considered. Romo > then a rookie even Prescott who I know we are blessed to have ( Don't tell me this would have broken Daks psyche and confidence) that's his 1 intangible that will never falter.

But instead we got another loss in playoffs
"Learning curve""building block" for Dak such solace. Give me a break.

This year had potential for all time greatness and it slipped through our hands. We got through the whole season with a healthy Romo and didn't use him.

In reality nothing but a wasted season.

Thanks Jerry for rubbing salt in the wound.

He's gonna win a super bowl huh Jeruh. With who if it's not the Cowboys who cares. If he couldnt come back in as starter for us this year why is a good idea for him to be our starter next year. And if that is the case and there's a competition next year. That would really leave a sour taste in my mouth. Knowing by not putting him in this year
Rodgers= Romo
Rodgers>then a rookie ( played great but In over his head in playoffs)

All he had to do was win 3 games.

One more thing to remember- the salary cap is going up another $13 million; and some estimates think as high as $17 million, next season. That means the Cowboys can do whatever they want with Romo.

It also means other teams may be more willing to take on his contract; especially those that already have a lot of cap room.

He can be a June 1st cut but still hit the market immediately.

I believe that is what we did with Ware if I am not mistaken.

Denver is saying that they are not interested in Romo, but don't believe that. Elway would be crucified if he went into next season with Siemien as his starter and Lynch still a greenhorn. Siemien is what he is.....a true 7th round pick and plays like one. Lynch needs some seasoning for next couple of years. Enter Peyton, I mean Tony and the Broncos are legit in the AFC West once again. Right now, the Chiefs and the Raiders are better.

Tony will be traded. Heck I would even settle for just changing #1 picks with Denver-----go up to #20. And a third round pick.

I would believe Denver isn't interested been saying that for a while because they have two young developing QBs. They gave up three picks including a first rounder for Lynch and Romo would be a progress stopper. They've already gone the aging, injured QB route with Manning.

Romo would be perfect in Devner. If Lynch isn't ready yet, sitting a year or two behind Romo could do wonders.

Romo will likely be released so he can pick which team he wants to go to. Don't think many if any teams would be interested in trading much for him due to his age and injury concerns.
