This isn't necessarily a theory 100% believe in, but could the Cowboys be perhaps saving Ogletree's talent for the postseason? That way, no one really gets a look at his style or skill set. And we unleash Ogletree formations for then. 'Tis just a theory, but it makes a little sense to me.

There was a nice play in the Saints game where he was WIDE open and Tony comes back to Miles. I have a sneaking feeling that Ogletree is going to have a big play in the next few games.

idk how much that applies to single players but i know teams do it for sure . For Offenses and defenses. Not sure he is that talented. We arent unleashing adrian peterson on the league or rookie randy moss there. idk. interesting though.

I like Otree but if we are going to depend on a UDFA rookie to make our playoff run, we are in serious trouble.

I think he'll contribute some but we better be riding our main horses to the promise land.

I think it all depends on your definition of "unleash." He's steadily seen more and more snaps over the past eight or so weeks, and fairly consistently appears to look like he belongs out there based on his route running, quickness and hands.

I wouldn't be surprised if we have a few wrinkles where we could involve him more in a game plan if given a desirable matchup. And by "more" I mean maybe a grand total of three, four or five more plays where he's simply on the field. It might not mean but one or two more passes thrown his way in a given game.

But by no means do I think we're trying to hide a secret weapon from the NFL before getting to the second season. We know who this offense runs through. And besides, I don't know if it's a good idea to try to start making drastic role changes come the postseason.

Garrett isn't above running a few surprise/trick plays.

does anyone think roy williams may be better in the slot? If O tree comes through and develops into a steve smith type receiver (nyg)?

we're basically stuck with him and crayton.. Although crayton has returned to his 07 form post benching.

well our UDFA qb throwing to our UDFA wr has been working out pretty well so far, why not throw a few bubble screens to the other UDFA wr?

:)

He's been on the field quite a bit recently actually but most people wouldnt realize it cause not many passes have gone his way. Its the next step in his progression and because he hasnt gotten the passes doesnt mean he's not getting open either evident by how open he was in the saints game where Romo was scrambling for his life before he passed it to Miles. I remember in the preseason when Miles wasnt getting many passes his way but he was getting open a lot but when you're the 3rd or 4th WR you're gonna be last on the QBs progression reads after the snap and if the QB isnt getting enough time he's gonna rush his reads and more than likely get the ball to the 1st two reads or dump it off to the backs. Its a good sign for the 'tree means he's handling his business in practice enough for the coaches to trust him in live games now he just needs to make sure he's mentally ready just incase Romo throws one his way during his progression reads.

Sorry to the OP if I veered a lil from your original thoughts

NFL teams may save specific plays for big games but I have never heard of a single time where a team holds back a rookie to save him for the playoffs.

If anything you build chemistry and confidence in a young player so he's ready for the pressure of the playoffs.

I wish you were right but I just don't see it.

Keyword from my post is UDFA "rookie".

Not a chance.

My friend and I were talking about RW in the slot. I think it would make more sense, though, if he had good hands. I think he's scared catching in traffic. However, I also think it's one way to create mismatches.

As for my diction in reference to the above poster, I'm not talking about "unleashing" a Randy Moss type. I'm speaking more in terms of a few plays from O-tree we haven't seen. We know this offense relies on Miles Austin and Jason Witten, so that's not what I'm saying. But I do think O-tree has more talent than teams may know about. Just a theory though, not saying I'm right or wrong in absolute terms.

Won't happen. The Cowboys don't believe in giving more time to other players. It's the reason you don't see more Ogletree with Roy's struggles and you don't see more Choice with Barber's struggles.

The only reason Austin got a chance to start is because Roy was injured. His explosive performance was so earth shaking against KC that there was no other option except keep playing him. They would have been a laughing stock if they had taken him out of the starting lineup once Roy returned.

Jerry and Wade don't know the meaning of insanity.
