Ok, McFadden is a beast, but...

I dont think hart would be a good fit for this team at all. We have barber who is similar skill wise and better imo. We need somebody with a little more speed if we are gonna do this committee thing next year again. ofcourse Mcfadden and barber would be a rediculous combo.

But I too wonder if Mcfadden can stay healthy at this level. I really like felix jones to pair with barber as well. If not for mcfadden being on that team, he is a top ten pick (no ronnie brown comparisons please lol) a very talented player as well

I would take McFadden over all of these backs. As far as injury McFadden runs no more risk than any of the others. Dickerson had a similar style and it did not hurt him one bit. The kid has outstanding talent and power to break tackles and the speed to out run defenders. For any team to pass on him because what could happen is ridicules

I would be happy with WR Early Doucet and CB Antoine Cason, we can get a quality RB in the second round.

Such as...

"How many yards will he run this week?"

"Is there actually anyone else competing with him for the Heisman this year?"

And, of course...

"Is it true that he can throw a pigskin a quarter mile?"

How many of Emmitt's records could he break wearing the star?

How many super bowl's could we win with a freak like that at RB?

oh dont get me wrong Mcfadden is the best back, and I would love for us to pick him, Iam just paranoid lol. He is a brutal runner when he wants to be and he has alot of speed to go along with it. But its a chance I would be willing to take lol. Who is your back if he's not there?

I must be blind because I keep hearing this, but of all the games I've seen. Breaking tackles hasn't been something I've seen much of. If someone gets his hands on him, he may not go down right there, but he drops within a couple of yards. So, he powers during the tackle, but usually he doesn't break anything more than a touch.

Now, don't get crazy. Yes, he has broken tackles before, but it doesn't happen often and I dare anyone to produce proof of this "prolific" ability to break tackles.

When draft day comes and if there isn't someone substantially better at a position other than running back, then yes. I'm going to take McFadden. He is the best running back I've seen in college right now. (though that could change)

EDIT: Personally though, I hate taking running backs that earlier unless they are no doubt super stars, because high first round picks are VERY expensive and most running backs aren't worth that money.

I'm open to the guys I mentioned above. Rice, Hart and Slaton but I would not take any of them with as high of a pick as I would McFadden. If McFadden is gone chances are I look to another position with the 1st #1 we have and use the other #1 on one of these other backs.

How about an outside linebacker? :lmao2:

I think McFadden will be a star in the NFL or else I would not take him with the 1st pick that we will have. As for power he is not a bull dozer type back but he has ample power to break tackles and speed to go along with it. As for the last statement no high #1 is worth the money if they fail to live up to the high expectations. We could get a WR and if he fails as many of them do then that hurts. We could get OT Jake Long just like people were hollering about Mandrich and that would be killer if he fails and many do. As I said I have a very high opinion of McFadden if I didn't I would not want him that high in the draft.

Dont forget the all important question: "Will he have more passing yards than his QB this week?" :lmao2:

I would rather have Rice with one pick than spend 2 on McFadden.

But if we could get McFadden with one pick ..... thats a no brainer.

:laugh2: I hate to say it but if someone came out that was considered head and shoulders above the rest of the draft candidates then yes I would. In this draft I don't expect that to be the case.

Agree I would not want to use both 1st rd picks to get him

no.. I was thinking things such as concussions? I posted a study in another thread how once a player gets one he is more likely to suffer another...

So you would pay that WR big money but not the RB?

I would pay a Calvin Johnson, but honestly I don't know who the next WR's are that might be coming out. I'm not saying I wouldn't pay a RB that much $$$, but seems like you can get a really good RB later in the draft. It bothers me lately with picks like Cadillac and Ced. Benson in the top 5 and they look average is all I'm saying. It seems to me now that I think about it is that the reason the Eagles have been so consistent is that they draft really good o and d limemen. I know this is a thread about RB so I am sorry for getting off track..

James Davis, thats a complete back.

Dude, I was watching the game this weekend and thought that same thing. I am totally with you on this one and I am a NC State fan. This kid is seriously special. He might be the best back in the country that nobody knows about. If you haven't seen him play you need to. Hell, I like Spiller also, but Davis is a monster. If he played for a team that was on Natl TV more like a Michigan or USC everybody would be talking about this kid.
