Exactly right. It doesn't make sense to me to hold this team back though. TO is going to draw double teams. That means Glenn (Wow!) and Witten are going to benefit. This team could move the chains in a big time hurry if they were turned loose.

Add to that the way the first unit defense is playing and I think the games could be fun to watch.

I think if we want to win the Super Bowl we'll have to be a pinball machine offense. Turn 'em loose Bill.

Totally agree. If we once again play teams close every game in the 4th qtr., that goes directly to BP's play-calling.

We CAN be explosive, but ONLY when BP starts calling it that way. However, we were all warned when BP came here to get used to the ball-control type of offense. I don't really know that it is in him to "open it up". And that REALLY frustrates me.

It's almost as if he'd rather have a better Time Of Possession than points at times.

We could have the type of offense that the Rams had when they were going to their Superbowls. We need Martz here with our personnel.

I think we'll be whatever the oline allows us to be - and hopefully it's both...anyone else excited about Dre's game, about Al's as well, about the te blocking, about Colombo's resurgance, and this McQuistan kid?

Bledsoe was asked about this earlier in camp and said BP would play to his team's strength. He said if the players can show him in practice that they can be efficient with the passing game then we would see it during the games.
I think we will see a lot more passing in the first half this year then a whole lot of running in the second half anytime we have a decent lead.

exactly, BP aint opening up the passing game with a rookie starting at RT and only 1 WR capable of creating seperation

not the case this year IMO

The thing I don't want is for us to go into prevent defense and prevent offense. That gives teams a 2nd wind late in the game if they make some stops.

I'd like to see offenses and defenses gasping for air for 60 minutes.

Unfortunately, history is not on that side.

I'll bet we run at a 52-48 % clip. 52% run 48% pass....pretty much like last year.

Hmmmm...could this be the reason we had some last minute collapses last year? Good point, Hos.

It is exactly why we folded late. We got conservative and played to run out the clock. The momentum and adrenaline was always on the other sideline.

Get 'em down, and then step on their necks. Never let up the pressure. We have the depth and weapons to do it.

We don't have an Emmitt Smith who never fumbles and a huge OL who can beat on a defense for 3 quarters and render them useless in the 4th so that they can't stop us.

You could almost feel it every week....10-point lead? Not quite enough. We immediately went into "Run the clock out" mode. Hated it.

That was the last year of pre Curtis Martin

If memory serves me correstly, a washed up Barry Word was his RB that year

But BP can open it up

On both sides of the ball we did that. All it does is allow a team a 2nd wind and if they get any type of confidence, they have an edge.

No team coming from behind should feel like they have an edge.

The only edge they should feel is the edge of the sword.

No mercy.

If BP doesn't open it up THIS year of all years, then I'd start saying that there is some merit to those that say that the game has passed him by.

Say what you want about Martz....but he knew how to use his personnel on offense.

His defenses weren't as bad as alot of people thought either.....they had the #5 defense the one of those years that they were in the Superbowl.

If Detroit lights it up on offense this year (I do think they can) then Martz will be directly responsible for the spark IMO.

I think he's a much better OC than Head Coach. He wastes Replay challenges on stupid stuff and has no concept of the clock. He's a gambler on offense though. I like that.

that was because of their O being so potent, that alot of teams abandoned the running game, and went to the air, alot easier to defend teams that are almost pass-always

Yeah, LOL....his game management was all over the place...challenging calls just for the heck of it it seems.

But he went for broke...he TRUSTED his players....something we honestly don't have here.

I think this is the most comfortable BIll is with this team, and O in general, that we should see more aggressiveness throughout and during games IMO

One could say that their best defense was their offense.

Maybe we should hire a military guy to run our team.
