Okay, so tomorrow does Irvin get in?

In 1996 he missed 5 games due to suspension - we lost 3 of those games, had to play a wildcard game rather than get a bye and then go on the road and play in Carolina.

I wouldn't count 1996 as a dominant year at all.

I remember that Carolina game. Irvin got injured early in that game and Carolina proceeded to hammer us. Hard to watch, that one.

Michael Irvin will be voted in tomorrow.

OK CBz. I don't really think he will be but if you say it's so, I'm gonna have to trust you. You are not a man who would ever lie about such things.

I'm going on faith here and the strength of your word.

He's in.

I hope he will and I think he will.

And if he does get in, I think I'll find a way to get to Canton that weekend.

Well Sir there's nothing like putting pressure on a fella is there. :)

I feel it's his turn......he has at least managed to stay out of trouble this year. :D

I agree that Matthews should be a lock but I'm not sure about that. I polled 18 voters for something I'm working on. That's almost half the voters and the top names that came up the most were Thurman Thomas and Michael Irvin. I would venture a strong guess that both of those players get the nod on Saturday.

he did miss 5 games...but had he played the whole yr he was on pace for almost 100 catches and over 1400 yds

thats a dominant season...especially considering we unexpectantly lost Jay Novecek and had absolutely no #2 WR (the yr of the infamous Deion as "both")

Irvin was the best WR in football from 1991-1996, period.

and by the way, the 5 game suspension was a total sham by the league office

David

Had he played the whole year? This isn't about what could have been. Mike got caught with drugs and prostitutes -- he brought ridicule to the team and the league. He was suspended and we lost 3 of those 5 games which pretty much killed us in the playoffs.

But you want to call that a "dominant" season. Puh-lease.

If Matthews is not a mortal lock nobody should be based on his accomplishments, he is a no brainer. Other than that I agree Irvin and Thurman will get in, but Matthews will and should be unanimous.....if anyone votes no on him they should be removed from the committee immediately.

I pray to the heavens Mike gets in tomorrow. I don't think I could take another thread regarding letters to Hall voters.

Those things are a giggle. Who cares? That form of correspondence couldn't be deleted from my inbox fast enough.

I thought so too at the time. But 2 years later the Cowboys showed me that yes, they could have a worse playoff performance. The AZ game was just brutal viewing.

Not a chance he gets in. I hope to hell I'm wrong but I don't think I am.

If anyone has a quarter...take it out and flip it.

Heads - Mike gets in

Tails - Mike don't get in

Now, go outside and throw the quarter away as far as possible...because him being a Cowboy? What does that tell us....

He should.

For all the rubbish we hear when we bring up Aikman & Emmitt, all we ever hear is "Yeah, but consider the team they had AROUND them."

It's funny - if that's true, I wonder why Irvin is thus far the only other player from the 91 & 93 team that has even been considered for the HOF, if all those other players were great.

he got a 5 game suspension unjustly...if you honestly believe he deserved 5 games for what he did, somehting is wrong

and anyone that averages almost 6 catches and 90 yds a game is having a dominant season, especially when you have absolutely zero help
