OL is the primary problem

It is not going to happen this year. Not with this group. Next year Guyton and Beebe will be more experienced, but Martin and Steele need to be replaced.

Best way to help the defense is to have a dominant run game.
We haven’t had that since 2018

Funny how this thread has identified pretty much every position group except kicker as the primary problem and all of it has a point.

It is not just the OLine. It is the entire team. The defense only performs well against terrible QBs. In the 3 home games the opponents have had a total of 15 drives in the first half. In those 15 drives the opponents scored 11 TDs and 2 FGs. Only 2 first half punts. That has to be historically bad. The only unit performing at a playoff level is the FG unit.

Both lines on offense and defense are challenged right now. Do we have some good players sure. Overall as a unit and/or as a scheme we are struggling on both sides of the line of scrimmage.

How is the ol so bad? Can’t run block. Can’t pass block. Dak is not good enough to win without some type of run game- not many qbs are. Ol is playing pathetic

Wrong, both lines are the problem. When you have over 10 plays were there back isn’t touched till someone in the secondary does something, means the DL and LB we’re blown up on those plays.

Nobody is saying Dallas needs another #1 (though that's what every team should be trying to do). They don't even have a #2 and do not have a RB who can generate explosives. But the good offenses all have significantly more weapons than the Cowboys. It isn't even close.

The Commanders and Bills (prior to Cooper) do not have way better weapons-though their QB’s are much better. I agree the Cowboys could use weapon upgrades. The OP is correct though-the OL is the biggest current issue for the offense. Upgrade that (not easy) and everything looks better.

Nothing matters until changes are made with the top 2.

Neither of those offenses is any good other than "QB run around and hope something happens."

I was praying that O'Cyrus Torrance would have been picked in 2023. I know I'm not the only one. He was plugged in as the day one starter in Buffalo, and has started every game since being drafted. Instead, we drafted Mazi. Our O-line could have been Tyler at LT and Torrance at LG. That's a promising young core. Detroit and Philly did the same and it worked well. Of course, they have excellent o-line coaches.

i still think the only way guyton improves is with playing time.
put him back at left tackle and let the baptism continue.
in my opinion, the up-grade needs to be a new right tackle.
steele just isn't progressing to me.
like guyton, beebe has his ups and downs but i think both will be excellent players moving forward.
i'd love to see zack moved to RT...and let tj bass fill in at RG...but i don't think it'll happen.

Two rookies and Steele not the same since surgery. It's not great. A lot of turnovers though and those aren't all due to pressure.
They sort of are. When defenses can bring pressure without committing extra men they can pack the secondary to create enough pressure to rush things. I don't think anyone who is objective at all would argue that both our lines have not been truly pathetic.

We just insert guys into these positions because we have Jerry and his son waiting for everyone else to sign contracts before we resign our guys. These guys have become paralyzed by the salary cap and live in fear of it. Sign your core players as early as possible and spend on decent vets in free agency while your mid round draft picks develop into legit starters.

So, replacing Dak instantly helps the other issues? Yeah, Dak is sucking right now. No doubt about it. But, he's NOT the one and only issue. Please explain how replacing Dak helps Mazi and the rest of the DT's keep the opposing OL from consistently reaching the 2nd level. Please explain how replacing Dak makes the OL block better? I just wanna know how.

We have Guyton, Beebee and Smith who all appear to be competent. Take those 3 and build around them, and use the others to acquire resources.

Yes OL is one of the problems, just like poor QB play and a very poor RB room. Thus the offense is piss poor. All that money spent on the offense and you get nothing.

The rookies have a ways to go before they're able to even get to the 2nd level.
