That stinks.

I bet you his neck injury was a lot worse than he and they thought.

Either that or he had some kind of substance abuse issue. Because there's no way you don't take a starter at least to training camp.

if the neck injury was serious enough, he would be getting an injury settlement from the team

I think it just boils down to the staff liking Deon, better

Not necessarily. His neck could be fine right now, but perhaps they're afraid he'll re-injure it in the future. They may have thought it was a risk not worth taking.

the in-season comments from Wade about Deon, and now this, makes me think otherwise

either way you look at it, there was nothing keeping Hoyte here

Julius was the one who needed a fullback in front of him. But Marion is a single-back kind of RB. So now with Marion signed, a blocking FB is not at a premium.

given we need another RB to compliment marion, how do we know *what* we need in regard to a blocking fullback?

I was impressed by what I saw out of Cricket last year especially his ability to catch out of the backfield. I believe that this was the right way to go

Lorenzo Neal was released a few minutes ago too.

I wonder what the reasoning for him being released is also. I dont think they would relase a guy who starts and plays special teams just because. I wouldnt think so anyway.

If he's healthy I'd sign him

That's interesting with Neal . . . .

But with regards to Hoyte, maybe there is someone else they want to sign in FA instead?

But I have to say, it is wierd. Normally, you would bring in a guy like Hoyte to TC - just for competition.

And not to mention, D Anderson spent the last part of the season on IR as well.

It is a bit strange, IMO.

They either have a guy picked out in free agency to replace him or they love the fb in the draft and feel they will get one for sure.

Or maybe no one signs hoyte and his neck really is bothering him and he is re-signed in the summer.

In the past, I remember guys like Kalen Thornton getting released about this time of year, and we didn't learn it was injury-related until later.

Sorry to some of you, but Hoyte doesn't suck that bad for there not to be something else going on. We have guys like Tyler Everett and Tearrius George on this roster, for crying out loud.

goodness, is it so inconceivable that they really like Deon?

not dismissing the possibility that they like someone else

I'm sure they really like Tony Romo, too. But that doesn't mean they're going to release evyer QB on the roster behind him. Don't be an idiot.

lol, noone is saying Hoyte sucks, just you don't need 2 FBs, esp. a 1-dimensional blocker, who isn't that special

you usually need a backup QB don't you? you don't need a backup FB

this isn't even the same thing, don't know what you're blabbering about

Tell me how many teams only have 1 FB on their roster. We have 2 right now.
