Kosier is not Larry Allen. But then again, Larry Allen wasn't Larry Allen last year either. With Kosier at LG, we lose the explosion at the LOS that Larry gave us, but we gain a presence in the second level and the ability to pull - one of the main prerequisites for a LG. Heck, maybe we can even throw a screen pass now.

LA is not what he once was. Please 43 reps with 225lbs. does not equal anywhere close to 700 lb. bench. I compete in power lifting, so I know this for fact. Also, he is slow and cannot properly apply what strength he has left, because he gets beaten to the punch.
Anyone remember all the stunts teams used on us and LA would whiff as his man was trucking by him towards Bledsoe? He was used and abused often!
We will have an upgrade in Kosier:
1) He is lot quicker so we now can pull and attack the edges with JJ.
2) Pass protection will be much improved
3) We can trap with either guard and this should keep defenses thinking

One more thing, if Bonds is to be judged about his roids/growth use anyone wonder how 700 lbs bench press comes and goes for old LA?
Let me assure you that much bench is not done through genetics alone!

I don't recall the thread in question, however I am not saying we did not improve. Fabini >>>> Petetti, that is obvious. However, I am saying that simply improving on a piss poor line isnt good enough. Houston improved, yet they will still win 5 games tops.

I don't think our line is "piss-poor", I also don't think it's above average, but average is good enough w/ the weapons we have on O

I guess I just have higher standards than you. It has been a long time since the Cowboys were a championship caliber team, and it is showing in our fans mindset.

well when you're recovering from 3 consecutive 5-11 seasons...

and it's not factual that it's bad, yet here we are...

You have it backwards, you see what you want to see, I see what happened on the field last season.

and how you determine what happened last year, will translate to this year is beyond me

since when has a WR and 2TE sets improved oline play? Oline coaches like Hudson Huake and Joe Bugel are basiclly a waste of money!!! why pay these guys when u can sign a WR or draft another TE... and all your OLINE problems are fixed!!!

I recall that year when Randy Moss made the Vikes Oline the best in the league!!! Jerry Rice has done it a cpl of times too... Oh and the Hogs wouldnt have made 1 pro bowl if it wasnt for Art Monk and the Smurfs!!!

why stop there maybe we should trade for Steve Smith... how can any DLINE deal with our Oline with Smith, T.O. and Glenn?

Ranch Heads are just sad!!!

it got us 3 more wins too

And 3 more wins this year... well, you know what that means. We're in the post-season.

Frankly, a kicker would've gotten us there last year, which has been already said. And like has already been said, because of our line, we probably wouldn't have gone far.

This year though, the line should be significantly improved, I think, and barring injuries, we're situated to be able to make noise in the playoffs. Gotta get there first, I know... but we're just too solid a team to not, I think.

Think about it: To a 9-7 team that lost 3 games because of our kicking, we added:

TO
Kosier
Ayodele
Coleman
Fabini
Hannam
Boiman
Vanderjagt

Plus:

Carpenter
Fasano
Hatcher
Green
Stanley
Watkins

That's 14 players. One of which is arguable the best WR in football. One who is arguably the best K in football. Two upgrades on the O-Line. One serious upgrade at ILB and another serious upgrade at OLB (Carpenter). One terrific TE to go with another terrific TE to go with a terrific blocking TE. One dynamic returner to help field position. A few role players and developmental types.

A better way of looking at it is look at who won't be starting or playing as much any more. Just look at who those guys will be replacing. Start with the kicker and immediately you feel better about this year. Shanle won't be counted on because we have Ayodele. The players that those new guys are replacing just weren't very good. Fujita, Kenyon Coleman, etc. We got to 9-7 with those guys... we should do much better replacing them with the above players.

I could go on... but just say that I think we'll be much better.
