Frankly I think anyone going into Mexico anymore deserves what they get. Just like that idiot that went to North Korea and then whines when he is grabbed.

Wow, nice comparison there. NK is nothing like a resort in Mexico, not even close.

No, partying as Scandrick did, was doubly stupid. First, in violating standards binding upon him, back in the United States. But behind the scene, even more stupid in retrospect and inspection.

Who does anyone think is behind the illegal or abusive conduct that can be called upon in cash flow areas such as a resort? No second guessing here, Cartels take away from all lucrative business ventures. If it is a good enough return, then there is leeway as to 'procurement' methods of cash.

The Cartel respects nothing beyond a cash flow basis...and even walk in and use property belonging to someone else, and dares them to intervene. That is why the lush setting doesn't hide the strings being pulled behind the scenes. But where one has a dominant and criminal element, then rogue and in Mexico, barbaric tactics are also used. A show of force, and an athlete as well, could end up dead and along the side of a road...because too much FBI and CIA activity would crimp there style in a major way. With focus along the border already, and due to rampant and brutal activities from Mexico down into South America, it is generally kept under cap.

But a girlfriend purchasing some on the scene drug, doesn't hide the player from being a possible target for being seized and an exhorbitant ransom demanded. That is the connection.

Then the scenario where a connection of deterioration of large businesses are starting to become frequent. Now what does that mean when the sources behind those business were criminal at the start? This, they will return to methods that secured the cash cows in the first place. Patying just doesn't hide one from harms way. No matter how sweet in the now, she may look.

As to a personal side, if your own angers are subsided, fine. I don't even own a weapon, myself. But my home is well protected with a vigilant pride at the door.

Look, this is going nowhere, I like your posts but I get easily affected when people talk about my country. There are obviously dangerous places in Mexico but for the most place the tourist attractions are safe. Athletes and movie stars have been coming to Mexico's beaches to party for ages and I frankly cannot remember one incident of one of them being left dead on a road somewhere.

And I'm sure your vigilant pride would beat up my dull humility to a pulp.

OXNARD, Calif. — Dallas Cowboys cornerback Orlando Scandrick has been suspended for the first four games of the season for violating the NFL’s drug policy, owner Jerry Jones said late Monday night.

Scandrick tested positive for a performance-enhancing substance after drinking a cocktail that included MDMA – known as “Molly” – that was cut with another stimulant, a source said. He took the drug on a Saturday in Mexico and was tested the following Monday after he returned from the trip, according to a source.

Scandrick was on vacation with his ex-girlfriend, Draya Michele, a reality star. On her Twitter account, she denied giving him the drug and a source said it’s unclear who slipped Scandrick the MDMA.

Drugs are stupid. You are risking everything for a few minutes or whatever high. Just plain DUMB.

He deserves the suspension for stupidity alone. Its called the stupid tax.

My friend and ex bandmate was a big partier with weed and harder stuff. He now works for doing govt security contracts with networks and has random tests. He won't even drink unless it's Friday night now. The rules are simple and the risk is known.

Circumventing or finding a loophole in timing and getting busted isn't a cause I can support

Yeah but your friend never had someone sneak something in his drink either.

I'd seriously consider getting rid of him.

I can forgive alcohol or some Mary J but taking hard drugs like this is where I draw the line with athletes.

We have been talking for years now. I wasn't addressing pride in your country. I love my experiences there, and the gentleness that I know and love. That is never on the table as to a personal attack by myself.

On the legal sides of things, your country is still struggling with great burdens...some which are the vicious criminal elements. But they exist in our country as well...and why I bothered to include the Italian Mafia, and could have also included the Russian Kartel and even a Mormon criminal element. And yes, there are Israeli elements involved in criminal activity here in the States.

As to 'famous' people, once they cross a line and rub shoulders with direct involvement in the criminal nature, then trouble will seek them out. Here, or elsewhere. That's just facts of life. I won't get into the issues of political involvements, that even until five years ago, declared then, that a woman had a legal right to refuse sex to a husband for any reason. He could beat her all the way to death, and be completely abusive, rape her, or be a sex deviant...or unfaithful as well. That was wrong, but that non-declaration of a base human right, does have some carry over as well. The year before the Mexican Supreme Court ruled that women, even married, had rights concerning sex and servitude, there were over 990 unsolved female homicides in Juarez alone.

Now, I got my first egg taco off a cart in Boys Town in Piedras de Negras, but I can't be naïve now...and that doesn't apply only to Mexico. Some parts of every city has a tough neighborhood type of environment. Heck, about 1960 Dallas streets for a woman was very rough at best.

I've had some great times while in Mexico, and some of them in Juarez, as a soldier. I particularly liked the Ramada Inn in Mattamoros. I was treated greatly...I'm just saying that Scandrick was more than just a little oblivious of how he could be harmed with wrong conduct by HIMSELF.

Take care my friend...and keep loving the Cowboys.

I can see OScan being talked into do something stupid while on vacation.

Hot girlfriend wants to party, says Molly is no big deal. Probably didn't even think they tested for it.

Either way, it turned into a huge mistake that will cost him and the team dearly, but I don't see it as a long-term problem. The girlfriend situation may have to be re-evaluated though.

 This makes no sense. You can forgive alcohol but not hard drugs. OK

I don't like Scandrick, Never had.. But, this is ridiculous.. 4 games over an ecstasy pill? I mean, isn't that what a Molly is? That is what I read.. If so, this is completely ******** by the NFL.

From what I read the tests given by the NFL don't even look for Molly or extasy, but sometimes those drugs are cut with amphetamines. Amphetamines are treated as PEDs and that would explain the 4 game suspension for a first time offense.

First time recreational drug violations, like those for weed, don't result in a suspension. They are placed into an expanded testing program and only a second positive test leads to a 4 game suspension.

I worked in finance at a large overnight shipping compnay Memphis awhile back. We had a "shared learning" workshop where someone from Legal came in and disucssed various legal situations and stories. One question was asked about the funniest story she had to litigate. It was an employee termination for failed drug test (random monthly tests required for airline, loaders, etc for safety, etc)

The woman was fired for testing positive for cocaine. She sued and claimed she never took the drug. In deposition, the lawyer asked how it got in her system. She said from her boyfriend - thinks she ingested it - but not from saliva.

A molly is the furthest thing from a PED, it helps his performance on the field in no way lol. NONE

Wait...you can forgive alcohol? You think molly is more harmful than alcohol? I'm actually shocked it warrants such a suspension. If Ray Rice got 2 games.....i'm confused to how and why molly gave him so much but I guess because they feel it will hurt him on the field and that's all they care about it seems. You can beat your girlfriend just as long as it doesn't hurt your play on the field.
