Orlovsky is busy taking care of his own business
Quarterback worries about Bears, doesn't concern himself with Lions bringing in Culpepper for a visit.

ALLEN PARK -- Dan Orlovsky was busy running errands, enjoying an off-day and getting ready to prepare for another week of practice.
He insists he didn't hear the rumbles about free-agent quarterback Daunte Culpepper coming to town for a workout with the Lions. He didn't even hear rumors of Culpepper negotiating a contract.
"I have been busy the past few days," Orlovsky said.

Instead, he is preparing to play the Bears at Soldier Field on Sunday. He wants to end this skid of seven straight losses and 14 of the last 15. Orlovsky worries more about the Bears' blitzes and aggressive defense than Culpepper taking a trip to Detroit.
As of Wednesday afternoon the Lions and Culpepper were not in serious talks about a contract, although coach Rod Marinelli admitted the team is still in communication with him. Marinelli would not offer much more information. Culpepper flew in Tuesday for a workout and physical. Culpepper said he cancelled a visit to the Chiefs, telling them he had an offer from another team.
"I thought he moved around good," Marinelli said of the workout. "He moved around good, good feet and all those things."
Marinelli would not speculate how Culpepper could help the Lions.
"I don't go there yet," Marinelli said. "It's just where we are. He had a good workout and he's a good guy. He's a really good person."
One of Culpepper's options appears to have disappeared. The Broncos have opted to promote Darrell Hackney from practice squad to replace injured backup Patrick Ramsey, who was lost to a season-ending injury.
The Culpepper visit created a stir across metro Detroit. National publications were buzzing he'd sign soon although the Lions say nothing is imminent. One of the delays might be that Culpepper is representing himself and if a contract is offered, it is expected to be heavy in performance incentives. There are reports Culpepper wants a two-year deal beyond this season.
This was all news to Orlovsky.
"Oh he did (come to Detroit)," Orlovsky said. "I didn't even know that. I just found out so, no thoughts. That is not going to have any bearing on me. I just found out from you."
During his best season in 2004, Culpepper threw for 4,717 yards, 39 touchdowns and 11 interceptions for the Vikings. The closest a Lions quarterback came to duplicating those numbers was in 1995 when Scott Mitchell passed for 4,338 yards, 32 touchdown passes and 12 interceptions.
But the last three years have not been as productive for Culpepper. During the first two games of the 2005, his last season with the Vikings, he threw eight interceptions and no touchdowns to begin the year. He was injured that season and, since then, has played in 18 games with 13 touchdowns and 20 interceptions. He also averaged a fumble each game.
So far Orlovsky has passed for 741 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions in three starts since replacing Jon Kitna, who was placed on the injured list and is out for the season.
Orlovsky isn't interested in looking over his back. He wants to look ahead and keep his starting job. Priority one is trying to subdue the Soldier Field crowd and not allow a similar 38-7 spanking the Lions suffered at Ford Field.
"Handing the crowd," Orlovsky said. "Communication. Really running the team while the crowd is against you. It is kind of turning that out and being able to get 11 guys together on the same plateau. Our goal is to go there early and take the crowd out of the game and make it a level playing field."
Not my concern
What's going through Marinelli's mind? Bears head coach Lovie Smith , who coached with Marinelli, wasn't very interested in talking about it. Smith and Marinelli have had a chummy relationship over the years along with Indianapolis coach Tony Dungy .
"I can talk about the Chicago Bears," Smith said when pressed on Marinelli questions. "These are questions you need to talk to Rod about. Rod is going to work every day trying to get his team better. That's about all I know. Beyond that if you want to talk about the Bears and what we're trying to do, we have a big game against a good football team coming up this week. We respect them. We know exactly what they're being taught and it will be a heck of a NFC battle."
Newest Lion
Don't look now but the Lions signed another former Buccaneer -- free-agent fullback Darian Barnes , a seven-year veteran from Hampton, who won a ring in Super Bowl XXVII. He had been with six teams.
He has five career carries for 10 yards.
The Lions released defensive tackle Langston Moore to make room for him.
