Are we sure that Jordan Mills was signed to the practice squad as opposed to the actual 53 man roster?

Looks decent.

5th round pick in 2013. Started 29 games.

Bye Weems????

He had a very rough 2013 (gave up a lot of pressures) and injuries last year. Bears did not want to keep him after pushing Kyle Long to RT.

We will see, but he certainly has starting experience.

He was viewed coming out of college as someone with position flex. Both T and G spots.

That surprises me that they cut Brinkley instead of Weems.

Found this glowing review of his preseason work this year.

Mills' struggles throughout training camp have been pronounced. A starter the last two seasons when healthy, he has struggled with his technique and been sloppy overall, prompting the Bears to take a longer look at Leno.

Leno was the Bears 7th round draft pick, and he won the starting job at RT over Mills. Mills does not appear to offer much in the way of swing tackle. I question the signing and it appears to be a desperate move with having lost Gibson to the Chiefs.

Not desperate when you can add a young OT with starting expetience before the season.

They did not "lose" Gibson. They could have kept him if they wanted him. I think he has more upside, but whatever.

How does losing Gibson, who they cut, show desperation when this guy will be on the 53? Everything they do is not out of desperation as hard as that is to believe.

You can't go based on production years later. You have to look at drafts in a vacuum. Claiborne was picked commensurate with the consensus of his ranking around the league. That is a good pick. Whether the player performs up to expectations is a different story that has nothing to do with the evaluation of talent at the college level or draft positioning.

You want to complain about a pick, complain about Gavin Escobar.

Escobar hasn't had a chance to show his stuff. Claiborne had injury issues, low intelligence, low confidence issues and his technique needed a lot of work. That's a lot of negatives for a guy you gave up 2 high picks for
