It’s not rocket science - they need to make improvements to the offensive and defensive lines. They wasted the best years if Tyron Smith and Frederick is gone now. Connor Williams has been a bust, let’s just say it out loud. Biadasz couldn’t beat out Looney in camp.

The defensive line needs no mention, needs to be completely replaced. Hill has shown flashes this year but he’s inconsistent and they’re locked into a contract with DLaw that they can’t get out of ($44M cap hit!!).

So no, things don’t look good, do they? Sad to say the best thing that could happen to this team is a 5-11 season and a good draft pick.

We have not spent much money on WR. This myth really must die. I mean Gallup, Lamb, Wilson and Brown make chicken scratch. And Cooper? Stop looking at the end price tag. His deal is really just a 2 year, $40MM contract. It's actually pretty team friendly compared to other top WR contracts.
Cooper can never win. He is actually having an all pro season better then Julio and OBJ. The receivers are set. The line is good, it’s just not healthy. Dak is proving to be a top 5 quarterback.

it's is now our identity...a strength.
Dak and WRx3.
the improvement Dak has made over the last 2yrs is awesome to watch.
that is reason alone to be excited.

It’s not the dire. We need help on defense but the offense is more than capable - and will be as long as we have what we have there.

Good safety and DL play would have this team at 3-1 or even 4-0. Chin up, bro.

I totally agree. The hate for him makes no sense. The reality he was the number 1 free agent this year and will be again next year. I am proud to say I am a Dak Stan.

We have spent so much money on runningbacks and WR's and now our foundation is falling apart and the Dak bill is due.

I just don't see how we are going to overcome Dak's contract and somehow quickly improve this team. It's going to take years.

Jaylon Smith? Terrible contract

Lawrence? Terrible contract

LVE? Not reliable

Once Dak is signed the only way to improve this team is with rookies and we've been basically doing that since he has got here and we have nothing to show for it.

I wish Dallas wasn't so in love with their QB. I wish they would look to the draft and save themselves from locking us down into mediocrity.

We've lost almost all hope for doing anything this season and the Cowboys only redeeming quality is that our division is so bad.

McCarthy looks like the fraud I said he was. I still have hope but I hated this hire.

It's just bad and we desperately need to add a transcendent player or coach to this staff to even give us a chance to overcome all of this.

Dak, like Romo, just can't overcome all of our problems and paying them all that money just makes them insanely rich and the Cowboys insanely average.

Someone please give me a shred of optimism for this teams future....
Dak.

They’ve invested and spent money on the Oline yet it’s still a problem.

We are screwed.. Like really screwed.

Dak has proven nothing to me in terms of the money he wants and how his game correlates to winning and losing.

He’s not a difference maker and he’s a slow starter even against horrible defenses.

Allen in year THREE has thrown 12 TDs and 1 INT and has thrown for 1326 yards at a 70.9% completion rate. This is the same guy Dak-stans said is worse than the GOAT.

The future wasn't bright 20 years ago. We just didn't realize it yet because those 90s Super Bowls weren't that long ago at the time.

The Jones boys running the show is what it is and we'll get what we've been getting. Unless that structure changes - unlikely - don't expect the results to either.

Nothing is etched in stone and it's not too late to change the team building philosophy but that's what it will take just like they changed when they started to build the OL. And that needs tending once again. In order to change, they have to admit to themselves that what they've been doing hasn't worked. It isn't bad luck, it is poor building.

The challenge isn't the team or who operates it because that is not going to change. It is focusing on the positives of the team when we watch them play. But first you need to ask yourself, "what kind of Cowboys fan am I? Do I watch them to see them play or do I watch them to see them win?" SB or bust fans are always the latter, only interested in results and the destination.

I used to be a watch them to see them win fan and was miserable when they lost. I really didn't enjoy watching the games and was no fun to be around. But then one day instead of just saying it, I really meant it, it's only a game. It doesn't affect my life.

I remember when they won that first SB, I thought the heavens would open up but nothing really changed any more than it did when they went 1-15 when I was living in PA during BuddyBall. At the time, things like this seem to matter until we realize all time is fleeting.

Well, fans are fickle.
Evey time a mediocre player's contract is due, many in this forum wants him paid top dollar.
So, Jerry signs an average player, like Lawrence, to a big contract, and shows very little for it. And those same fans moan and ***** about his contract.
.
Yeah it's a vicious cycle. It's gotta stop.

The offense doesn’t do good until we fall far behind.

You never see the potential of it until we’re down a few scores.

They are slow starters and with Dak the offense just sputters and sputters and we call them heroes because they show up late.

Their slow starts and turnovers are a huge issue.

Our future is fine......didn't even bother reading the pages. Just another OP we can't afford to pay Dak thread. Just me but if we can sign/draft/find 1 or 2 true defensive PLAYMAKERS a lot of our defensive problems go away. Playmakers I mean leaders you know you're getting high-level performance every week. Players who want that mantel on their shoulders. I'm not that worried coz if you look at MM Packer's tenure, he always had a top pass-rush specialist ( Clay Matthews, Julius Peppers ) In fact, I'm keeping my eye on Von Miller situation in Denver. I know it's too early to talk about now but he could very well be a cap casualty ( they'll save $18M releasing him after this season ).

I agree. I think we need a complete defensive overhaul. Our offense is fine. I just don't think we can pay this quarterback and do what needs to be done on the defensive side of the ball. Can't pay QBs that are not elite the same as we pay elite QBs. Better off taking our chances in the draft.
