I was all for it, and I was wrong. In hindsight he was a great coach for us, Garrett was the problem and is the problem now.
LOL!!

And people talking about Payton respecting Payton.. He abused Parcells 3-4 defense making it look like a hot mess and that set the blueprint for the trouncing Dallas defense then started to take. There was a reason Jerry also went Wade, because Jerry invested a lot of money in it. Payton never let the gas pedal down and totally embarrassed his former coach on live TV. We couldn't stop a basic screen to save our lives. He also exposed our slow MLB Bradie James and Ayodele in the passing game. Wade did a decent job of bandaging that hot mess.
Don't get me wrong, I agree with everything you're saying. We're talking Garrett vs Wade at HC here. We're just picking our poison. The best D Wade mustered here was in 2009 when he was 2nd in points and 9th in yards. By 2010 we were 31st in points and 23rd in yards. Prior to 2009, we had some improvement on D but it was not enough to justify Wade or add to his status as defensive guru. Just my opinion, but Wade's inability to lead as a HC affected his ability to run the D. I just don't think we got the full benefits of Wade as a DC and we could have done much better.
Good God! I remember that game clearly!
And you just knew it was going to be the blueprint on how to beat their defense from there on out.
It was too glaring to ignore.
Embarrassing... Absolute joke if was so easy to beat this defense... Then Kitna came and talked about how he just targeted Bradie James, who was awful. Wade got the most out of him.
Other than the fact the team completely quit on him - I agree.
Which brings me to the core issue which is the players are at the heart of why this team continually fails.
Finished 1-7 and the team quit on him. That SNF game was the end of it. The guy is too soft. Great defensive mind, like Norv, their ceiling is coordinator.

yet he won two divisions and a playoff game in 3 years with us
Players on that team liked Wade more than Garrett tbh.
Recent former players like Jesse Holley really dislike Garrett a good deal.
The offense was an issue and Holley has indicated Garrett sabotaged Wade from within.
Wade had us playing at a really high level but they also bottomed out. Too bad really that Garrett turned it around and didn't let that team get a top 3 pick.
1-7 and what size collar did he wear as interim HC this season? The Texans hired a HC and bypassed him for a reason.
The mistake wasn't firing Wade. The mistake was hiring Garrett. He makes every coach look good.
so you prefer 8-8 three straight years over to championships and two playoff appearances in three years?
