Put Cassel in and then I want to see if this team still looks this bad. It might. But its worth a shot. What do we have to lose?

I don't know that I disagree with you-- but after that 90 yard drive last night to tie the game, I don't think JG is giving any consideration to making a switch.

Well this season has certainly nosedived quickly. Yes, we lost a lot of key guys, but we dropped two games that we could have and should have won even with our existing personnel. Not winning at least one of the two is downright backbreaking. So what comes next?

Let me start off with a real hot take here: we absolutely must win 2 of our next 5 games. Assuming it will take 9 wins to make the playoffs, if we aren't at least 4-5 by the time we get Romo back (and that assumes he's back by Miami), it will be almost impossible to make the playoffs. Even at full strength, it will take a herculean effort to finish the season 6-1 or 7-0.

So here's what we've got left with Weeden (or, god willing, Cassel) at the helm:

vs NE
BYE
@ NYG
SEA
PHI
@ TB

NE and SEA are almost certainly losses. I know Hardy and Ro Mac coming back will help, but those teams are just much, much better than we are. With the way the Giants have looked the last couple of weeks, that game in the Meadowlands is looking awfully tough, though still winnable. I think we probably lose there. That means we HAVE to beat the Eagles and Tampa Bay. Frankly, those are two bad teams and we should beat them even without Romo.

So to summarize: I think we're in for a long, brutal next four weeks (three games), followed by two absolute must wins against Philly and Tampa. If we can get through this stretch at 2-3, Romo may be able to carry us to the promise land, thereby fulfilling my username prophecy of "RomotheSavior."

Gonna need a lot of bourbon this fall...

Good post !!

NE is going to be a nut and a gut check. I just want to see this team fight regardless of score.

The other games I want to see this defense step up and actually catch a INT and our Oline actually blow open some holes. Right now our play calling is close to 8-8-ball years. Linehan needs to get mismatches instead of just out executing defenses. Then we have a chance.
I wish I could like this 1,000 times.

The one nice thing about the NYG and PHI games are that division games are so unpredictable and crazy that anything can happen. Usually we're on the receiving end of the backup QB going wild in a crazy division game (skins game last year), hopefully we can be on the good side of that coin this year

Have you had that "this isn't your dad's root beer" (or something like that)? It's alcoholic rootbeer. I'm thinking that AND Jack is what I'll need.
And working Sundays.....

Record the game - if something good happens....

You may be able to toss the Pats game right out the window if you make the assumption (dangerous, I know) that the Pats sweep the NFC East. The real problem is that we're the only team in the division to play either Seattle or Green Bay. Thanks, first place schedule.

The only way we win is defenset and a kicker battle. Low scoring kicker battle.

I'm not convinced Weeden could beat the bye week.

Hate to be a Debbie-Downer but I think 1-4 is quite possible, and maybe even likely over our next 5 games.

I think the Patriots are a sure-fire loss with the way their offense is playing right now and with our less-than-inspiring Defense. I thinks Brady shines in Big D.

The Giants are playing much better now than they were 4 weeks ago, and Eli is the best QB in the division right now. Their Defense is solid too. They showed how much they've improved with a big win in Buffalo yesterday. They're back to .500 after starting 0-2.

The Seahawks are still one of the most talented teams in the league, despite their surprising record. They just got Kam Chancellor back and Russell Wilson causes all sorts of problems with his scrambling ability. Marshawn will get a heavy Los against our weakened D. I think that's a loss for Dallas.

The Eagles also look much better than they did when we faced them 2 weeks ago. Their offense is actually productive now as Bradford is finding his rhythm, and their banged-up Defense has been surprisingly good too. I think we can beat them, but a loss at home here would not surprise me at all.

The Buccaneers are the one team I'm confident we can beat. They're young, inexperienced, and in the middle of a rebuild. It could be closer than we expect because of all the injuries, but that should be a game we take.

So realistically, I think 1-4 is what we're looking at over the next 5 games, or 2-3 at best. Last night's loss was a big one. The division is the Giants to lose at this point. Their next 5 games are very favorable.

I'm thinking Sunday is a good day to go to the Fair and laugh at all the crazy white-trash, drink beer, and raise my cholesterol level to a dangerous amount.

Alright maybe I was a bit quick to write off the Seattle game. If the Lions hung with them like that in Seattle, we can hang with them in Dallas. (Though I'll still go into it expecting a loss just for my own sanity.)

Oh no you don't..... you sit and watch the game and live in misery along with the rest of us... then get on the zone and figuratively break stuff....like the rest of us...lol

No such thing as a certain loss
But we have to beat the Giants, Eagles and Bucs of those 5
The division games being huge because if you could sweep the division you have a good chance of getting in playoffs with 9 wins
