Outside of Dez, we barely pose a threat passing wise

I guess that this really comes down to what your expectations are for this team. I am not a fan who believes that this team is a championship caliber team as yet. If we lose to Seattle then I can accept that. If we lose to Seattle and revert back to throwing the ball 50 times a game while tanking the last division game of the season with a playoff spot on the line and another .500 record or worse, then I'm not going to be real willing to accept that again.

It's still going to take time to get our personnel good enough to contend for a championship but that's OK with me. If we only have one WR threat (which I don't believe is true), the so be it. The rest of the guys can continue to come along and improve. Improvement is what I'm really more concerned with here.

Again.

What happens when he can't body catch? Have you seen consistent proof that he is reliable to haul it in if it's not near his chest?

Take a look at that 45 yard bomb from Romo. He reached up and grabbed it.

Just because he dropped one pass that didn't hit him in the numbers doesn't mean he drops everything. In fact, I think he's pretty sure handed. Thats the first drop that I've seen from him.

I said it yesterday, but IMO, Williams is a modern-day Tony Hill.

Neither were/are what I call "hands" catchers. Hill LOVED the ball in his bread basket. It's been a long, long time since he played, but as my favorite receiver was Drew, I do recall getting frustrated very often with Hill, because if it wasn't in the vicinity of his chest, I didn't think he was going to catch it.

I get the same feeling with Williams.

Now, I know many fans loved THill, and I liked him, but only as a support receiver. In other words, I never felt like he was an elite receiver.

Again it's very early in his career, but I get the same feelings with Williams. I know he works a lot with the jugs machine, and I get the feeling he wants to improve his hands, and perhaps he will. I'm just not confident it can happen.

I don't dislike him at all, and I think he will be a great 2nd receiver, and be a nice Robin to Dez's Batman, much like Hill to Pearson.

All that said, I do think he is a weapon and is a threat. I also think Beasley, Harris, and someday Street make for a good group.

Tony Hill had more catches, yards and TDs than Drew Pearson pretty much every season they played together except for Hill's rookie year.

I hope Seattle thinks like the OP, because if so, Romo and co will have a field day. Go right ahead, take Dez away from the game and think we have no other weapons passing. Witten and Beasily will beat you underneath while Williams stretches the field. Ohh that's not working for us? Ok, we'll just hand the ball off to Murray who is automatic for 5+ yards a carry behind this O-Line.

Hey man, You're actually 1 of the dudes I respect on here. So I can respect your difference in opinion.

I don't think he's terrible at all, I just hope he works on it a little better.

Unless Romo delivers a perfect ball to Williams and his chest, he is not catching it. He loves to use his body still. Evidence was there when he had to use his hands, and failed miserably.

How the hell did our scouts not see this? Dallas drafted him in the 3rd round. Seems as if they noticed something or else they would have used a 1st or 2nd on him.

He looks good at times, because Romo puts it in a spot that allows him to use his body, but what happens when he can't consistently do that?

He's a great athlete, yes he made a nice play, but we can't ignore the fact that one day him and his comfort of using his body to catch the ball, will come back to bite us in a huge game, where Dez is doubled, and we need a big play from Williams, where the ball might not be perfect, and his hands will be needed.

So Williams will drop a pass at a crucial time? All receivers have dropped passes at crucial times. It happens in the NFL. Williams had a drop yesterday that bit Dallas. They overcame it.

I think you underestimate seattle.

I really don't believe they need to double anybody.

I do hope we put Dez on Sherman's side, and they feel confident enough to just leave them 1 on 1. Dez will get his more often than not. Sherman will as well though.

Are people STILL hung up on the body catcher vs hands catcher? Lol as long as you CATCH it who cares? Guys got 5 Tds. I can live with them hitting him in the chest...

Without reading the OP, I immediately felt the urge to reply. HUH???? Williams is going to make any team that double Bryant pay for it. He will make Bryant more productive because any double team on Bryant is a high risk that Williams or Beasley is going to exploit.

This issue came up before and somebody posted gifs of him making multiple catches with his hands.

There have been really good receivers in history that were primarily "body catchers".

And? This season, Williams has more TDs and a higher average…would anyone take Williams over Dez?

Don't get your feathers all ruffled. I said I liked Hill.

That said, I wouldn't put him in Pearson's category as far as his hands (not even close) and impact (and yes, I know all about Hill's famous catch against the Skins). Drew had a reputation as a big-game and crunch time performer. Apparently, I'm not the only one.

Drew was on the All-Decade team and has had many Hall of Fame mentions over the years…Hill isn't even in the conversation.

It continues to be the same old whiners who win or lose come here to whine and complain. Fact is Williams is making plays even Irvin said he is much better than Harper. Harper did not like the comment Mike did not back off of it. Williams has shown himself to be a solid WR

Irvin also said that this current O-line reminds him of the O-line of the 90's. Can't take everything that he says very seriously when it comes to the Cowboys.
