Outside of Dez, we barely pose a threat passing wise

I disagree.

I think part of what is making the offense so good is that we have 3 excellent 3rd down receivers in Dez, Beasley and Witten. I think we need to try and stretch the field a little more vertically in the passing game as we tend to fall in love a bit too much with run, run and then pass to move the chains. But, I still consider Witten and Beasley excellent 3rd down receiving threats. Williams basically does his job, a fast #2 WR that can consistently better the opposing team's #2's. And we use Harris pretty well on screens and since we run the ball so much, we haven't given Escobar much of a chance to do something in the pass game.

The WR corps is fine.

We can't(logically) run the ball 55% of the time then cry that the passing totals are low.

TWill is an excellent #2. All he does is catch TD passes. His job is to be the big play guy. Pose a major threat. He does.
Beas is a good slot WR that gets first downs.
Witten is a threat in the seams and also gets first downs.

It isn't an all world receiving corps but it is good and it is budgeted properly.

This offseason my biggest fear was our #2 receiving core. If Dez is double covered.....I wasn't sure if Terrance could get separation especially as a body catcher. And i'm still not sure. But you know what? It hasn't hurt us yet.

I just get a kick out of all of this. Prior to going 4-1 everyone had us as one of the word teams in the league. Now that we've overachieved in some minds everyone is nitpicking about us now. "Let's limit Demarco's carries", "Let's re-sign Rolando", "We need a #2".........

Its just funny. We had no expectations now we are worried and have concerns when we are at 4-1.

I won't lie and say I have my concerns when Dez is double teamed but thus far Terrance, Demarco, Witten, Cole and Harris at times have made them pay. Terrance is only in his 2nd year. And he just leads the league in receiving touchdowns. That's all. lol.

No, because that is only over 5 games. Hill and Pearson played together for several years and Hill had the better stats in three different categories. Big difference. Plus I never said Hill was better than Pearson. I just don't buy that Hill was only a support WR. The guy played at an elite level. Dallas was fortunate to have two elite level receivers at that time. When I think support receiver I think Alvin Harper. Harper wasn't very good when he wasn't playing alongside Irvin. Hill was still very good after Pearson was gone.

Unless Romo delivers a perfect ball to Williams and his chest, he is not catching it. He loves to use his body still. Evidence was there when he had to use his hands, and failed miserably.

How the hell did our scouts not see this?

He looks good at times, because Romo puts it in a spot that allows him to use his body, but what happens when he can't consistently do that?

He's a great athlete, yes he made a nice play, but we can't ignore the fact that one day him and his comfort of using his body to catch the ball, will come back to bite us in a huge game, where Dez is doubled, and we need a big play from Williams, where the ball might not be perfect, and his hands will be needed.

I liked Hill, Harper and I like Williams.

When is counts, I want the ball going to Pearson, Irvin or Dez — 100% of the time — because I had/have confidence that could make the catch most of the time. They were Alphas.

I just don't see Alpha in Williams, although I will absolutely elated if he could be.

No question is. What happens when he can't body catch? Have you seen consistent proof that he is reliable to haul it in if it's not near his chest?

Michael Irvin was a body catcher too, and was one of the best WR's ever to play.

What Williams lacks at this point is the courage to attack the football while BEING a body catcher. Irvin would almost use his frame as a shield and a vacuum for the football to crash into while trapping the ball with his hands simultaneously. Irvin would be the perfect guy to pair with Williams in some sort of tutelage.

Williams plays a bit more slow motion, and I notice if the ball is below chest high, does use his hands (on slants, out routes away towards the sidelines). He is fluid enough to get open, but could use more aggression when the ball comes his way.

He's a kid and a talented one, he's productive and the sky's not falling on his career. He had a huge drop yesterday, but also came through on the bomb just fine.

Just because he dropped one pass that didn't hit him in the numbers doesn't mean he drops everything. In fact, I think he's pretty sure handed. Thats the first drop that I've seen from him.

I would not call him sure handed. He's adequate handed. His hands are TO-esque on their own, but he can develop.
