as far as I know, this is unprecedented... in all of my years of watching football, I have never seen the media highlight such a thing as 'dropped passes'... what is even more stupid is the fact that the media never compares these statistics to other receivers...

it seems like this is the last resort of the media to grab at TO...
he hasn't done anything to make himself the demon that the media painted him to be.. what will the media gain if they start comparing the drops of Owen's to other number one receivers...

as a side note, TO dropped two passes that I can remember that were in his hands... he got up and made some clutch catches after these mistakes... but I wish he would catch those easy ones..

Owens had another very good game today. 8 receptions, many of them 'clutch' by any definition.

The only people griping are the ones who expect him to be 'special'. Superman. The ones who don't see what Bill has built is a TEAM, but still want Jerry's brand of celebrity, or fantasy football wins.

The ones who can't fully savor a win unless Terrell Owens has star billing in it.

Owens is keeping his mouth shut, not publically exerting any egregious pressure for the ball, and leading the team in receptions - let sleeping dogs lie.

Actually, I would just like him to hold onto the balls that hit him in the hands. I don't think that is too much to ask of a $25 million dollar RECEIVER.

Well, as Bill says, "drops are part of the game".

Owens has never had very good hands, and I don't think this year he is outrageously costing the offense anything.

As someone else said, he come backs from drops with good catches. His game is YAC, speed-size ratio, like it's always been. Not great concentration.

I do think the media is stretching now - seeing the team success and TO's quiescence, his apparent willingness to take a back seat to the new and REAL 'star' - Tony...tonite I heard that Owens is 'disappointing' because for his size he is not as 'physical' as he should be. (the Ticket)

It will continue I suppose, til he singlehandly wins a game, by playing all 11 offensive positions.;)

Yes they are, but some of his just seem to come at fairly important times.

I don't know. He left 6 points on the field against Washington, and cut short a few drives this season. However, he deserves the credit for the TD's, receptions, and for the attention he demands of defenses.

I agree. We knew what we were getting.

He really has no argument right? Tony is feeding him the ball left and right. Plus, it is hard to get worked up in a frenzy if you keep dropping balls. However, I would not put it past him.

Okay, now that is just stupid. His physical play allows him to get a lot of the YAC that you mentioned earlier.

Unfortunately, Owens has brought a lot of this on himself. He has thrown tantrums everywhere he has been. The media thinks they can get an easy story from him so they circle him like vultures.

He's not physical like Key was, relishing contact, looking for it, but geez, he can still break a tackle.

We don't need him to be physical anymore, anyway.

Now that we've got Terry laying down the wood for MBIII's endzone runs, sloughing off helmet to helmet hits, and illegally blocking Will Demps. :lmao2:

I wonder if Bill found THAT "inspiring".

But seriously, the Jints came to play today and our edge, small as it was today, was in physicality....counter to the first meeting with them this year when they flat out whaled on us.

Today they beat us up, but we beat them up more.

TO drops some passes,, in some bad spots, I can't argue that. But that last pass to Witten to set up the FG,, is why Jerry wanted TO here and why we are a much better team with TO over Key!

If it had not been for TO running that deep pattern behind Jason,, pulling the deep safety with him, Witten does not get the seam,, and that pass is not completed. TO may be a lot of things,, and he may not have the best hands on the team,, maybe not even the 3rd best pair of hands on the team, but he demands respect on the feild and forces the D to use two people to cover,, leaving someone one on one.. this time is was Witten.

That was just good play design. It's not like if that was Miles Austin instead of TO the safety would have just let him run free. That's a play we run alot, with two WRs, one deep and one underneath, both headed to the sideline. It puts zone defenses in real tough binds.

Give me a break.

If that were Austin out there the safety wouldn't have been cheating that far over.

Witten lined up against a TE and needed some help as well, but the safety went with the bigger threat.

The safety went with the deeper threat. I don't have a snapshot of the play in my mind, but I believe the safety was back alone, with no corner. He had to stay back on TO.

This is a very astute observation...which is why I keep harping on the fact that Romo needs to have these kinds of weapons at his disposal when TO and Glenn are gone to keep this thing rolling. It's all about the way a team defends you. And team defend you based on how they respect your weapons. Carolina is learning the hard way that you can be a front runner and set tempo with KeyShawn Johnson...but he is pretty average when you have to come from behind or abandon the running game.

And while I am at it....for those of us who were not old enough to see Art Monk play....I ask the following: If you think Keyshawn Johnson is a HOFer...then Art Monk is. If you don't, then........

Terry dropped a ball in this game. It resulted in an interception. It happens. Guys drop balls. Terry then made up for his two mistakes(the illegal block being the second) in this game by do other things. T.O. did as well. You have to overcome mistakes or let them haunt you. Dallas got past their bad plays to win this game.

Owens has dropped too many passes. I think his player overall is good but he is leading the league in dropped passes.

Couple of things.

TO makes plays. Yes, but he also drops BIG passes. You cannot offset one with the other. You have to judge each individually. The outcome? TO is very inconsistent PERIOD.

On the Romo to Witten play, the Giants were playing a cover 2 I beleive. That means both safeties are deep. When TO was running the deep post, that holds the safety deep and Witten caught the seam. It was the safey's job to protect against the deep pass (which is why TO went very deep) and that allowed Witten to catch the seam underneith. One thing some of you dont' realize is that the play was supposed to be on the right side of the field. Witten faked to the right and his cover guy bit hard and Witten saw Romo rolling left, so when the cover guy bit, Witten rolled right and Romo hit him in stride. (Romo said this in his post game interview)

He got 25 mill to catch the pass in Washington and he got 25 mill to catch that 3rd down pass inside the 10 and take the shot. I agree he opens up the offense, but ig TG is on that side the play is no different, maybe not Miles Austin but TG definately.

He overall played well but he is scared going across the middle. Two drops yesterday going across the middle, both on 3rd downs if I remember correctly.

Not a big fan of TO to begin with but here is my opinion.

TO has done some good things, helped open up the passing game, made some big scores and helped us win games.

Since Tony has taken over TO has been pretty much quiet and doing a good job of not causing trouble.

However, with all of that said, he has dropped too many balls.

I realize that dropped balls are part of the game and that is ok.

However I think he is one of the league leaders of dropped balls and that is a little too much for the money he is being paid.

No need to rag on him that much but let's not act like it is not happening either.

The drops are bad, costly, but they were expected, too. As they again flashed his drop statistic, making another huge deal out of it yesterday, even my wife shook her head and gave a solid "Good Grief, they HAVE to mention that constantly, don't they?" She's right, they do. It's annoying, but he's invited the attention. People notorious for dropping the ball get that press - just ask the 2004 Seattle Seahawks WR corp.

He caught 8 passes out of 10 thrown his way, and one was a questionably bad pass.
