Owens/ Worth the money vs Dropped balls

He caught 8 passes out of 10 thrown his way, and one was a questionably bad pass.

The 2 drops I saw were balls that should have been caught and would have given Dallas 1st downs. I agree overall Owens did a good job but he I think it should be expected that he do a better job at hauling these balls in. As was pointed out everyone drops passes now and then but Owens is leading the league in dropped passes

Owens does bring a lot to the table but the bottom line is that he is NOT worth the money we are paying him. His drops and penalties have hurt us nearly as much as the plays he HAS made.

Also, he hasn't made as many plays as we were led to believe he would. How many times has he broken a tackle and turned a short pass into a long TD? One so far this season. For the money we are paying him a lot more is expected.

I have not once bashed TO since he came to Dallas. I saw that the media tried to create story after story about TO when there was nothing there.

Search my posts and it will be clear I have no agenda against Owens.

However, if he keeps dropping passes like he has I have no use for him. He needs to get his drops under control.

I am not saying he is not a talent and has not brought some things to the table, but he has to eliminate the drops.

He is just way to inconsistent right now. I do not trust him crunch time. He needs to get his on the field act together.

It takes a team effort to win a game. TO is on our roster and as far as I'm concerned he is doing better than Key would be doing. Now, that being said, Key was a great competitor and a great downfield blocker, but he's not in TO's class. TO is a major upgrade over Key. We still have yet to see TO at his best. I still have my popcorn waiting. But it will be this seaon, possibly in the playoffs, and he will dominate a game or two.

ummmm terrell is 4th in catches in the NFL
8th in yards
2nd in touchdowns
4th in first down catches
4th in 20+ yard catches

and he broke his hand and played with deadslow the first 5 games.
get over yourselves.

if i put those stats up for a reciever on our teamat any time in the last 6 years you all would be going ape**** for the unnamed guy.
we havent had someone play at this level in a long time.
Last we had no WR in the top 20 in First down catches
Last year we had no WR in the top 13 in TDs. glenn had 7 so I guess he is tied for 14th.
Last year we had no WR in the top 10 in yards but glenn was close at 11th.
Last year we had no WR in the top 20 in catches.

last year we went 9-7. this year we are 8-4.
last year we scored a total of 325 points.
this year we have 332.
i know last year we didnt have a reciever #1 in drops.
looks like it doesnt matter too much does it.

However with that said you can not just ignore that he has had around 12 drops this year and I could be wrong but I think he leads the LEAGUE in dropped balls.

Just think how much more impressive his numbers would be if he would have caught just half of those dropped passes.

Not ragging on him, but it is an area he needs to improve on.

he got 25 mil to be a top 5 reciever and he isnt even close to the top 10 in............... wait a second...

4th in catches
2nd in touchdowns
8th in yards
4th in first down catches
4th in 20+ yard catches

never mind.

I'd definitely take some of the drops as long as he keeps producing those kinds of numbers...

You should have seen the large amount of drops coming if you'd have been paying attention. Owens is always near the top of the league in "drops". It's been that way since he's been in the league.

Let's not forget that he has been #1 in that particular category in 8 of his 11 seasons.

exactly. those numbers are great.

especially 4th in first downs. that man gives the teams first down catches. that important stuff. keyshawn wasnt even close to TO production there not to mention tds.

im glad he caught everything so we could go 9-7 last year.

It makes no difference if we should have seen it coming or not, it still does not make it OK imo.

He is not a 49er, he is not an Eagle now....he is a Cowboy.

the drops arent such a huge deal. parcells said the same thing.

if you decide to only focus on that. then do so. be a mediot follower.

someone yesterday on TV said why do we even talk about owens he isnt even in the top 15 of receivers. Saint louis has 2 recievers better than him.
I beg to differ on that. only torry holt has more catches. neither has more tds. and TO has more wins. wake up people. we are better because of him.

oh but hypothetically if he caught everything...it would look even better...!!!
if only i could dream and everything be perfect...shut the hell up.

I am tired of that crap. we are a better team because keyshawn is not here. look how AWESOME he is in carolina. hey they have a mediocre record. looks like he isnt making a difference.
thanks TO for helping the team reach 8-4. lets hope you can continue to get us to 12-4.

HELLO! that should show you how stupid everyone is about him by the fact that TO is in the top 5 in catches touchdowns and first down catches.

el dorado has his limits, hes not the be all/end all of receivers. We could get by without him just the same. A safteys gotta follow the deepest man, you put Autsin in there and that saftey has to follow him too. el dorado's not doing anything spectacular or mind blowing. Hes barely doing his job. You see Glann out there catching just about everything thrown his way. Few drops. No noise from him at all. Thats the way el dorado needs to be.

It seems you are either caught between a mediot follower or a blind homer concerning TO.

I see myself in the middle.

I can acknowledge what he brings to the table, however I also have to acknowledge he needs to work on the dropped passes.

So, next time you decide to call someone a mediot follower, maybe you should think about things objectively...oh and about your shut the hell up line, how bout you tone it down a little just because someone is not seeing everything like you do.

Merged these threads since they were basically the same topic.

Actually TO had the safety BEAT. If Romo throws the ball to TO probably would've been a TD (unless TO dropped it, lol). TO had single coverage with the safety and had at least two steps on him inside. Heck TO running that route almost brought the safety over enough to make a play.
