Yeah, it says "undisclosed" 2009 pick. If it comes to that we'll most likely settle for whatever the Titans offer.

Nope. It's a fourth for us next year if he isn't reinstated. If he is, we give them an additional 6th next year.

so if pacman bombs we move up in the 4th but a year later, providing we finish better than the titans?

doubt we get the 4th back. that would be pretty stupid for tennessee.

The Titans are getting out from under Jones guaranteed contract no matter what now. They are getting a 4th this year and a conditional pick next year no matter what happens. In order for the Titans to avoid giving up the 4th next year Jones simply has to get re-instated. If he gets into trouble after that too bad.

As a Titan fan I love it.

My only concern is he won't get re-instated after the shooter in Vegas starts talking to the cops and the truth comes out but even then the Titans get a conditional pick next year and are free of the guaranteed salary.

That was my thought as well... guess we will just have to see when it becomes official.

Like I said in my previous post, what would that second pick be in 2009 be? My guess is a 5th rounder which wouldn't be too bad if Pacman played like he is suppose to and kept his nose clean.

Pacman Jones has yet to be reinstated by the NFL. If he does, he'll be playing for a different team.

The Cowboys and Titans have a deal in place that would send the oft-troubled cornerback and return specialist to Dallas in exchange for a 4th-round pick at this Saturday's draft, sources told FOXSports.com. If Jones is reinstated and plays for the Cowboys this year, then Dallas will also send a 6th-round pick to Tennessee in 2009.
If commissioner Roger Goodell chooses not to reinstate Jones, the Titans would have to send Dallas a 4th-round pick in 2009.
The Cowboys and Jones also have worked out the terms of a new 4-year deal that would take effect upon Pacman being reinstated to the league.

Now... I wonder what the parameters of that 4 year deal is?

thanks oilerman - appreciate the views of your team on this as well.

my "issue" is that it's actually bad for tennessee because the cowboys assume no risk in a worst case scenario now. if pacman doesn't get reinstated we'll get the titans 4th next year (i don't believe this to be true at this point however).

now unless that pick is lower than our 4th rounder this year, we in effect lose our 4th this year but get it back next year likely higher than what we gave up.

makes no sense to do that which is why i don't think millionaires missed this tidbit being reported.

So does Pacman new contract not take effect until we know if he is reinstated? And if he is not, and we get a pick from the Titans next year, who would own the rights to him?

This got me excited, I wonder if the stripers are biting up at Texoma. If not I guess I can hit the local stripper club. At local gas prices the cost would be a wash. Dang it! now I can't decide.

Yep, that's the thing.

Things are going to come out in the civil trials, too. This is a long way from being over and the uncertainty isn't good for the Cowboys.

So basically the 4th round pick is guaranteed. After that, it's conditional . . .

If he plays this year we give the Titans a 6th next year. If he does not get reinstated, basically the Titans give us our 4th round pick back in 2009.

I know some did not want to give up the 4th round pick, but this is a good deal. If he comes into camp in in good shape and gets in to game shape, then we it was an overall good deal. Plus it gives us a nickel backfield right now of Newman, Henry, Packman, Hamlin, and Watson (I am assuming Roy siting out on nickel packages). That's actually pretty sweet. And it gives us insurance if either Newman or Henry come up injured next year, which seems to happens every year.

If Goodell decided not to reinstate him (which I don't think will happen) thn we get the 4th pic back in 2009 . . . it works.

Now we have draft flexiblilty . . . .

Same for me man.

Hes a Cowboy though so I gotta root for him to do well.

I wouldnt have done the deal because image means something to me, but I think if Jerry see's a bargain deal he will try to do it.

Lets just hope this thing doesn't blow up in our faces because if it does The Dallas Cowboys name is stuck to it. Not the Titans.

OK im one who never wanted pacman. but now that the deal is done for our 4th round pick, im willing to give it a chance. now i looking foward to a great draft day. we still need to look at a corner in the fist 2 rounds of this draft.and we have got to get a young reciever who can play.we also have to upgrade on Kyle Kosier at OG. i love Brandon Albert.OG. from VA.Tech.

Pac plays like a 1st and will be paid less than Reeves. Can't beat that.

This simple statement sums it all up. I am a Purdue homer and wished Reeves was better and still with Dallas but come on replay the past season with pacman instead of Reeves and Dallas would have been in the SB. If they can work out a deal for RW Dallas will be super entertaining this season. Even with sitting out last season pacman is still head and shoulders above Reeves at his best. I am very happy with this deal.
