You may be right but I think your painting this with a bit too broad a brush stroke. No doubt that, while Nifong was an Igmo, there are some very compitent DAs out there as well. In addition to that, it has been a significant period of time now, since the Vegas debacle. Add to the fact that the Duke LaCross thing has been all over the news and I'd have to think that the Vegas Authorities have done there homework. They have to be very aware of what it would mean to be without basis for these charges.

Of course, then again, I'd have thought that after the first time somebody got shoot at a Strip Club with Pac Man, he would have been smart enough to avoid those types of situations so , I suppose anything is possible.
Prosecutors are typically elected. And typically aren't the "top of the class" types. Just saying that it's usually a recipe for grandstanding.

Ya know, they have convicted people of things without DNA evidence before. This ain't CSI Las Vegas. The absence of DNA is not exculpatory.

Kinda makes ya wonder how they convicted anyone for HUNDREDS of years before DNA. What ever happned to eyewitnesses?

I am sure that Jones is being railroaded. I assume there will be a counter charge of racism soon.

After all, the guy doesn't fit the profile.

I didn't say he was being railroaded. But I don't see how that's any different than just assuming he did it, because he fits the profile.

They simply had lots of wrongful convictions, to be honest.

'Pacman' Jones to face two felony charges in Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS (AP) Suspended NFL player Adam "Pacman" Jones will face two felony charges in a strip club melee that preceded a triple shooting in February, Las Vegas police and the Clark County District Attorney's office said Wednesday.
Advertisment

Two other people previously identified by police as friends of the troubled Tennessee Titans cornerback also will face felony charges in the fracas inside the Minxx club, police said in a statement.

No one is named in the shooting that occurred later outside the club and left a bar employee paralyzed and two others with minor injuries, police Capt. James Dillon said.

Warrants were issued for the arrests of Jones, Robert Reid of Carson, Calif., and Sadia Morrison of New York, Dillon said.

Jones, 23, of Franklin, Tenn., faces two counts of felony coercion stemming from allegations he threatened to kill club employees and bit a bar bouncer on the ankle, according to a criminal complaint filed in Clark County District Court.

Reid, 37, faces one felony coercion charge alleging he attacked a bouncer who tried to restrain Jones.

Morrison, 24, faces charges including felony assault with a deadly weapon and battery stemming from allegations that she hit the bouncer in the head with a bottle and attacked several other club employees with a chair.

Coercion is the act of threatening or physically interfering with a person trying to do something that he or she has a right and responsibility to do.

The charges are slightly different from those police sought in March against Jones, Reid and Morrison. Clark County District Attorney David Roger declined to file those charges, asking police for more information and to identify a shooter.

"The investigation continued and additional evidence was gathered, that's why it's different," Dillon said. "These are complicated acts and charges. We've worked closely with the district attorney."

A Las Vegas lawyer representing the three was expected to contact police to arrange their surrender, an aide to Roger said.

The lawyer, Robert Langford, did not immediately respond to messages seeking comment.

Police said the Feb. 19 fracas broke out inside the club, Minxx, several blocks off the Las Vegas Strip when dancers on stage were showered with thousands of dollar bills near the end of NBA All-Star weekend.

Yep, the jails are full of them.
Check out the stats on capital cases being overturned based on DNA evidence. It's striking. And that's just capital cases. Society doesn't have the time or money to spend overturning lesser offenses that receive even less scrutiny from the judicial system.

You're kidding, right? This guy is so guilty. He started the fight, then had his boys shoot the place up. It ain't like this is a one time deal. The world will be a better place when he is in prison. It is just a matter of time, that is if he doesn't get whacked first.

I understand the process by which a District Attorney is elected. I don't know the DA in Las Vegas so I can't say if he's a good one or not. I would say this. Considering the fact that it's Las Vegas we are talking about here, I'd have to imagine he isn't some back water circut court judge gone big. Lots of big time players, lots of celebs, lots of very influential people go to Vegas to have a good time. Things happen in Vegas and typically, they stay there, just like the commercial says. I'd have to imagine that the DA in Vegas has some small experience in these types of things. It's not as if he doesn't get the opporunity to make a name for himself with other high profile people. I'd imagine things go on and his office usually makes prudent decisions on them. Vegas is not like other places. They don't want to have the reputation of being a spotless place to raise a family. They want big time players with big money to enjoy coming. For a DA to try and pull what you suggest here is not consistant with what Vegas is about. I doubt a DA could get elected in Vegas unless he new the score but I could be wrong.

E-mail them. I'm sure they'll skip a trial based on your determination. The taxpayers will be overjoyed with the savings.

David Roger. Don't know him. He graduated from one of the lowest ranked law schools in the nation. These guys are typically purely politician types. Like I said, I don't know him, but I can make some pretty educated guesses.

Can you apply those educated guesses to Pac Man?

You're right of course, but parasites like Pacman and Co infuriate me.

We all 'know' they're trash and the sooner they're put away, the better off the world will be.

No need to guess. We have forensic evidence showing conclusively that he didn't do it.

Do you have forensic evidence he didn't threaten lives?
