So we might trade for a guy before his suspension is up?

That just sounds risky.

Whining about being a Cowboy? Pacman merely stated he would like to play for the Cowboys. I'd be willing for the Cowboys to give up a 4th for Jones. But nothing more than that.

I bet that if a trade were to go down, a 4th will be in the works. A 3rd rounder would be pushing it. Bottom line, I am all for bringing Pacman to Dallas if the trade is no more than a fourth and maybe a 6th next year.

The guy has serious talent. And you talk about becoming a feared defense with Pacman. We would indeed be feared.

I don't remember saying "I wouldn't root for him". I said that I dont' want too.

The guy is a straight up thug. I don't like to root for thugs. Have I? Yes. Does that mean I want to fill my roster with them? No. Its not a real hard concept to grasp, I'm surpised I have to explain it to you.

The early 90's cowboys were different. Irvin, Newton, etc etc. Were cowboys prior to being in trouble, so I rooted for them hard. Then when they got in trouble, I wanted them to straighten up, because I had an emotional attachment to them. But going out and picking up guy after guy with a rap sheet, is slightly different don't you think?

I didn't mind when TO was signed (other than I hated him for the star incident), I didn't mind signing Tank because he sold his guns, and seemed to have turned a corner in his maturity. But you can't put Pacman on the same level. He is a ****ing knucklehead thug, with no remorse, no accountability, and is about as mature as my 4 year old.

I'm willing to give ANYONE a second chance, but you need to prove that you deserve the second chance first. And thats where Pacman falls short.

:lmao2: Funniest line i have read all day.. are you serious??

How would signing Jones be "filling the roster" with them?

You said it again. "Guy after guy". What is it you think we are doing?

This isn't like we are going after Jones, trasing for Chris Henry and becoming Bengals South. This is one player at a huge need position who might happen to solve a problem, but with a large risk factor. That's all.

So he'd be the only ****ing knucklehead thug on the roster since you said you don't mind Owens and Johnson. I suspect you probably changed your tune on them and you probably would with this player.

I'm willing to give ANYONE a second chance, but you need to prove that you deserve the second chance first. And thats where Pacman falls short.

What would he need to do to prove himself?

Why would you want or expect him to?

I guess it is so you wouldn't feel guilty for "rooting" for him as he highsteps into the endzone.

Why are so many people whining about these kind of moves all of the time. It was the same when Jerry signed "prime time", Keyshawn was brought in, or when we got TO.. I'm so tired of people freaking out because we are going after some cocky, thug, or "bad" person. Last time I checked we havent won a playoff in game in over 10 years. Some people act as if we're already the Super Bowl champs so we are going to mess up the locker room. This team could use some "thug" or cockiness in it. If you are a real Cowboys fan you want Jerry exploring every possibility. So the guy is a thug, an idiot, and probably isnt going to change but there is no denying his talent not only as a DB but as a KR. These are two important needs for us. We shouldnt have to give up very much for him, and likely any contract he would get would be incentive laden so where is the risk?

If bringing in someone like this is so disruptive to the team, then this isn't a championship team to begin with.

As in the movie Boiler Room:
"We're not saving the freaking Manatees"

Grow a pair and shoot for the Lombardi!!!!

When you take the last two guys in the league that have been available because the teams they were with don't want their legal baggage anymore, (tank and pacman)I consider that "filling the roster". And most other people do to. If consider "filling a roster" meaning 10-20 guys, I can assure you, you are in the minority

Gee, how about taking responsibility for what you've done? How bout not going to a strip club the night before having a meeting with the commish about the very same thing. How bout not doing a WWF wrestling match when the Commish said not to do it. How bout in an interview with HBO sports, you don't blame the entire world except yourself?

I have a feeling you haven't been in the loop on what this guys been up to the last couple of years have you? Let me refresh your memory....pay special attention to the last one, you know the one that was just a couple of months ago.

July 13, 2005- Arrested and charged with assault and felony vandalism after a nightclub altercation. This began Pacman Jones NFL rap sheet. He already had a lengthy one from high school and college.
September 5, 2005- Adam was invited to attend the Nashville Sports Council Kickoff Luncheon. Jones went off on a verbal tirade while being told to wait for his car after the event. He then refused to tip the valet service.
October 2005- State of West Virginia filed a petition stating that Jones had not been contacting his probation officer and that he had not reported his July 2005 arrest. The judge extended the probation for just 90 days.
March 23, 2006- Charged with marijuana possession in Fayetteville, Georgia. He went on to claim that he knew how to beat the NFL’s drug test.
August 25, 2006- Arrested for disorderly conduct and public intoxication after being ordered by the cops to leave a Murfreesboro night club several times. Jones claimed a woman stole his wallet. The woman claimed that Jones spat on her. The judge in the case gave Pacman six months probation and told him to stay away from the club.
October 26, 2006- Jones was issued a citation for misdemeanor assault after a female student from Tennessee State University claimed that Jones spit in her face at a Nashville night club.
Feburary 19, 2007- The facts are disputed and no charges have been made yet, but Jones was in the middle of a fight and shooting at a strip club in Las Vegas that left one man paralyzed and two more wounded. The fight broke out after Jones showered strippers on stage with $81,000 dollars. The club owner claims Jones was beating a strippers head against the bar while claiming to kill one of the club’s employees.
January 3, 2008- Pacman is accused of punching Wanda S. Jackson in the face at an Atlanta strip club called the Body Tap Strip Club. Jackson says Jones reached over the counter and sucker punched her in her left eye.

this is not TO nor Tank Johnson.....Pac Man is a deplorable individual. We gave skins fans alot of grief over past few years about Sean Taylor rap sheet...but this kid (pac man) makes Taylor rap sheet look silly. To help some of you grasp this.....Pac Man Jones is to Sean Taylor as DMX (Earl Simmons) is to Lil Bow Wow !

I think many of you are forgetting about the new sheriff in town. Goodell. You know the guy that has a hard on for pacman and for whoever picks him up.

Do I need to remind everyone that Goodell said himself, that any clubs who take players with checkered histories, and those players continue to get in trouble, THAT THEY WILL BE SUBJECT TO LOSING DRAFT PICKS.

Hows that for risk?

TO, Keyshawn, and Deion aren't even in the same universe with Pacman. Those guys wanted money and fame. Pacman wants to be a thug.

All your post did is prove that are a hypocrite.

You first lumped Tank Johnson in with him after stating that you had no problem with him.

I know exactly what kind of person is and what he's been up to. You even apparently have an issue with him going and wrestling against commissioner's wishes. You demand things from him.

Thing is, I don't care what he does.

I don't pretend I do, then turn around and act like its nothing as long as he does what I think he should do. Nevermind the fact that what I want is completely meaninglesss in the grand scheme.

Chances are a player and person like this will never make my morality hot list while at the same time make plays for my football team.

I'll just take the plays. And ignore the rest.

We've never had cads and scalliwags on this team.

Never.

Ever.

I have been reading all the threads, and I'm really on the fence on this one. This is a tough call.

On the one hand, I think some here underestimate just how much ability this kid has. He was a true game-changer in 2006. He had 3 punt returns for touchdowns and 4 INT's. He'd help this team IMMEDIATELY.

On the other hand, he's clearly a bad apple. This isn't Terrell Owens or Deion Sanders coming to town from a hated rival. It's not even Charles Haley with his history. This is criminal, bad news, who is one step away from creating a huge distraction and tarnishing the franchise.

I guess I'm leaning toward trading a lower-round pick, giving him one final chance and cutting him loose immediately if there is even a single incident. It doesn't even have to be an arrest, just a strip-club siting would be enough for me to release him.

Of course it is.

Anytime you take on baggage it is a risk.

That is what makes the deal for me. He is a catalyst on the field. He does make plays. He can return punts.

Were we talking just another cornerback, I would want nothing to do with him. It is just that simple.

On the other hand, he's clearly a bad apple. This isn't Terrell Owens or Deion Sanders coming to town from a hated rival. It's not even Charles Haley with his history. This is criminal, bad news, who is one step away from creating a huge distraction and tarnishing the franchise.

I am so beyond "tarnishing the franchise".

Not winning a playoff game in over ten years has done more to "tarnish" the reputation of this franchise than any behavior off the field could ever do.

This team and its place in the sports pantheon is what I care about the most.

I guess I'm leaning toward trading a lower-round pick, giving him one final chance and cutting him loose immediately if there is even a single incident. It doesn't even have to be an arrest, just a strip-club siting would be enough for me to release him.

Wonderfully stated. I fail to see how anyone who isn't inserting their own foolish sentiments into it can feel any different.

State your terms in his contract. If he violates it, goodbye.
