pacman on the Michael Irvin show right now

I actually liked his strip club answer. That's very honest.

He said he'd wouldn't go in the next 3-4 years but wouldn't promise he'd never go again.

The thing that amazed me was that he said "I want to play out my current contract."
He does not want a minimum contract. He wants his current contract.

I don't put any weight in the interview whatsoever. Methinks PacMan has probably spent a few too many nights out on the town "making it rain" and living a ridiculous lifestyle. From experience with family members, people get really humble, reflective and earnest when they're broke with their hat in their hand and their palm out. When they have plenty of "F.U." money to blow, that's when you see their real character and sincerity. Every NFL player that gets in trouble sat in pre-draft interviews and promised teams he would never be 'that guy'.

This could be a good deal for the Cowboys, at least on the football field, but only if they go into it with eyes wide open. Don't fool yourself into thinking this is a misunderstood, good guy. Don't fool yourself into thinking this is a guy you can trust. That doesn't mean a deal in certain terms couldn't be mutually beneficial, but protect yourself and proceed accordingly.

Here's the rest of his contract:

2008: $1.2925 million
2009: $1.7425 million
2010: $2.192 million

That's pretty cheap. 3 years, $5.2 million.

In some ways that scary though. Because if he proves himself in a couple of years and gets a long term contract with a big signing bonus he could get right around the same type of poor influences again.

If I was Tennessee I wouldn't trade him. Now is the best chance they will ever have to get him to clean his act up and play up to his potential.

I wouldn't ship him off to Dallas for peanuts and then watch him clean his act up.

But, I hope they do. :D

If Pacman would have been on the radio yesterday, we could have hit that 2,000,000 post count a day earlier. :D

and he'll play that out?

sign him. you can't touch a top CB these days for less than $8mil a year it seems. sign him, see if 2 years goes by w/o issue and if so, reward him on the 3rd. seems fair to me.

Not exactly true, he knows he has to prove himself before he signs a big long term deal. Thats what he was talking about. His current contract is actually pretty good deal since Tennessee has already paid the signing bonus. There have been reports that he is willing to change the contract to the minimum but who knows if that is true or not.

It was also scary when he was saying how he needed someone he could call when he was hanging around the house at midnight and got tempted by things... Meaning hitting the strip joints.

But I wouldn't even worry about years down the road. This guy is like an addict. He'd have to prove himself one year, or one month, at a time.

That ship has long since passed for them. He's lied to their faces too many times. They don't trust him. If they can't get something for him, they're just releasing him.

The thing is, they have to move on. So it actually amkes sense for them to get somethign for him rather than just waive him.

I was very much in favor of signing Owens because his antics have always been money driven and thought Jones would keep him happy financially. I was also in favor of the Johnson signing because his crimes weren't even crimes in most states.

I'm very much against signing Jones, however. What I wanted to hear was simple. I wanted him to state that he's found a mentor of some sort, be it a pastor, former teacher...whomever. Calvin Hill is great but he cannot and will not be his personal babysitter. I'd have also loved to hear that he'd been living and working out in some small town in Utah or Montana somewhere getting his life in order. Plus, I'd be willing to bet that his last foray into a "gentleman's club" happened within the last month.

He's going to find trouble again, I believe, and I don't want it to effect the Cowboys. People can talk about an easy to cut contract, incentives... but I'm afraid that doesn't solve all the problems with Jones on the team. Suppose for a second he slipped up at a crucial time like the Saturday night right before the Super Bowl.

While I'm venting a bit, what also really pisses me off his how Wade Wilson gets repremanded, yet Goodell seemingly gets away with sweeping his mess under the rug.

It's just not equal treatment, IMO.
werd...

He said he's in counseling right now and that he's working out 5 times a week. So, basically all that's missing is living in Montana?

He should be like Big Boi of Outkast and put a pole in his house and invite his guests there. Save himself the trouble of going out.

You know, he already claimed he'd done that...:

I have to say that not too many people his age steps up and admits his short-comings, put all of their business out in the street, and just puts himself out there to be beaten on.

I could probably count on one hand how many people on the zone would air their entire life of f'ups. I hope he changes, and I hope we trade for him and he turns it around and becomes an unstoppable force for us.
