i love Micah parsons but he is not the best defender in the NFL, hes top 5 but what has he LED stat wise??
NFL.com ranked him as the #1 defensive disruptor for the variety of things he does at an elite level.

Parsons finished...
3rd in total QB pressures (70)
Five forced turnovers were 2nd

He's younger than the other elite guys, so still has upside.

There is a lot more money in the pie than Jerry and other owners and GMs are willing to admit.
You persist in this narrative right in the face of opposing facts, and sheer logic.

-The Rams had to jettison most of their top players because of cap hell. They have $70 mil in dead cap this year! Ramsey, Wagner, Floyd gone.

-Inside sources have all but conceded that the Chargers will need to dump one of their top edge players, one of their top WRs, or both next off-season, and will still be financially handicapped to improve the team.

Of course the cap is going up but that gets baked into the contracts.

We should bubble-wrap all the players.

I want to say this (I haven't read all the Martin threads --- I only had to read Bob Haze thread). Martin was under contract AND when he signed that contract he was among the highest paid OL in The League. Jerry didn't underpay him at the time. Some dangerous precedents being set IMO.
As simply as it could be said.

I'm just trying to keep some perspective here add some context that he is not getting 22 sacks a year he is not leading in many categories at this point you can't expect him to be making $35 million without any thought whatsoever going into it.. I'm not down grading or devaluing Micah Parsons importance to this defense I'm just saying he is not a leader in any category.. Again I get his importance but him wanting 35 he's gonna have to bring something to the table as far as look I'm the defensive player of the year look I led the league in sacks look I led the league in tackles fumbles and interceptions from my linebacker spot.. We're just saying a lot of the elite guys that have gotten the giant contracts have been defensive MVP 's or somehow led the league in one of their categories I mean that's how they got voted in... Just trying to keep people from thinking Jerry should just pay this guy with an open check he has to weigh in everything that's gonna be happening at the time the contract is due and I've already discussed this above man what are we gonna do if we don't keep Prescott why would we keep Micah Parsons rather get all that draft capital free up money on the cap and go after another quarterback and start this process over again we have some young guys on defense that may not be as great as Micah Parsons but they have talent..

While I think a logical argument could be made to do exactly this, it would be extraordinary in this situation and would shock me.

Micah is a fan favorite, a must-see watch for the league...and obviously a top 3 defender.
I agree we're just having a discussion here I love Micah Parsons I have his jersey I have Jason Witten and Emmett Smith as well as just the T-shirt with Ezekiel Elliott but that's it that's all the garb I own as far as names on the jersey so I respect Micah Parsons I love his game but we just have to look into what's best for the team when his contract comes up.. How much is he really gonna ask for that's gonna be the question and is Prescott gonna be restructured and resigned? If we have to start over at quarterback again you have to really think about what you could get from Micah Parsons he could be the type that can get you that Herschel Walker type haul that you need to reset the qb postion plus others.

It's always intriguing wondering what you could trade away a star for but you just can't let him go. He's young, he's a superstar and he plays such a critical position. Maybe the 2nd most important position in football (QB#1). I'm guessing 5 years, 175 million with 125 million guaranteed. He's that good!

I read the Eagles trading Wentz for a 1st and trading back that first netted them AJ Brown, Jordan Davis and Jalen Carter. That's incredible haul for a mental midget QB

It’s weird how all of your posts are about the Eagles

Micah will be the highest paid defender in history and it won’t matter how jerry handles contracts.
and then 2 years later when someone passes Micah, he will do exactly lik eMartin did... even if he is in year 2 of a 5 or 6 year deal. Micah will hold the team hostage EVERY YEAR.

Again, I can't argue your logic. But it never actually works the way it should. Ever been to an auction? You often see items go for more than they are worth because several people want the item. I agree Parsons is not a 35M dollar a year player. But if someone else is willing to pay that, you either pay it or let him go.

What I also noticed from some of these players is they'll ask their current team to pay them more than they'll get in the open market. That's another difficult issue. Pay him more, or let him play for less elsewhere.

No, we're just debating man... I'm not saying that we shouldn't keep Parsons,

I don't want to imagine the team without him but there are a lot of scenarios that could end up with one of them being he's traded.. We all know his worth and the odds of trying to replace a guy like that with another guy similar is very difficult.

1. Never understood the shade on Vaughn. Sure, he's small but it's not like he was a niche player in college. He was a RB that got the rock a lot and did well.
Now that he’s a phenom in the making and so many claim to have seen it coming, I wonder how many truthfully had him on their mock drafts coming to us or being drafted at all?

*some have said that they saw him in Pee Wee ball and have had him on their big board since then……

* before hyperventilating, the above statement is said in jest and is not approved by the management.

Players have all the power now. Nothing wrong with that either. They make the game go, and in the NFL in particular, many of them sacrifice their future health.

They want to be traded out, they want head coaches fired, they want to be paid top at their position -- all depends on how much leverage they have, and how realistic the demand is.
The players don't make the game go. The teams/fans make the game go. If you watered down the talent and let the best players sit at home for the next 5 years and replaced them with less talent the game would not suffer at all. If you think so, then why does college have such a following? 1.6% of all the college players make the NFL. Replace them with the next 1.6 percent and in 10 years nobody would even know the difference.

It is all relative!

It is absurd that Parsons is willing to show up and play but Martin was not.
Especially since Parsons is still on his rookie contract…..Martin was already paid, appreciated, and respected….he just decided to extort his own team
