Papa Johns Pizza... Bankrupt???

It does not have to be NYC or Chicago...but trust me, there is a world of difference between Dominos, Little Ceasers and some of the other chains compared to what you can find in some local/ mom and pop chains.

The local pizza chain we have is far and away better than the national chains...not even close.

Although I have heard the NYC people claim the water is better when talking about pizza dough and bagels...who knows.

It's that Hudson River water :laugh1:

Eating Pizza from a national chain is just like eating at any fast food place or any semi-fast place like applebees. The food is not fresh and the people making it are really just heating it up. Its pre-measured, pre-cooked and over processed. That food is so full of sodium and other preservatives that they have to give it flavor via gimmicks like heavy butter & garlic.

Find a place that makes fresh dough, sauce and uses non-canned toppings or do it yourself.

Easily the best chain pizza there is, but they probably get the least amount of my business. Why? Because they are also easily the most expensive!

Yup! Always try the locals, to see if someone in your neighborhood is doing it right. Doesn't mean I don't also eat fast food pizza, but I prefer it done fresh and right, if possible.

Otherwise, it's like going Taco Bell, and thinking you're getting Mexican food.

How is pizza from New York any different from everywhere else? It's freaking bread, sauce, and cheese.

I've had "New York style" pizza here in VA and in New York. When I saw what they were serving around here, I lol'd cause it wasn't even close to being the same. Pies from New York are huge. They flood their pizzas with toppings to an extent where you'd practically have to fold it into a taco to eat it all and to prevent the toppings from flying off. It doesn't taste like the pre-made stuff you find around here either. Two slices will practically fill you.

Don't start that again. I love Taco Bell's Mexican food. :(

Allow me to :eekmouse: now before Hos arrives to put his boot to my throat regarding anything "mexican" from Taco Bell. ;)

Their stock sure seems high considering their about to go out of business, it closed at $31.27

Dude, I am sorry.

Come to NY for 2 Days. I will take you to 4 pizzeria's for lunch and dinner. You wont believe how REAL pizza should taste.

I promise.

Oh you don't have to tell me. The best pizza in New York is either in BKLN or Manhattan at a random hole in the wall that you're passing on your walk to Central Park :)

We should put conditions on this discussion that we're only discussing chain pizza, not local fare. Because if we do that there are a handful of places here in DC that have phenomenal NY and CHI style pizzas. Brick oven only.

When I was at the South Hudson Institute of Technology and Hub for Officer Learning Experiences, I swam in the Hudson once.

I think I caught SARS from that. :laugh1:

If you have to ask I can only extend the same offer that I sent to CASmith.

Yes. Manhattan and Brooklyn are on the list of course. But years of "change" has led to less and less great ones in those areas.

There is actually a place on Long Island that has the best buffalo chicken pizza ever.

Probably because they are way over priced.

Assuming the story is true, what's the play to profit on the eventual stock drop?

It's not all of PJ's... It's a company that owns a bunch of franchises.

That happens with a lot of chains.

Dominos is better...I don't know if I would go so far as saying good. :D

Little Ceasers is good for cheap pizza.

I think I am just spoiled by a local chain in my area but the others just don't do it for me now.

Little Ceasers is good for cheap pizza.

I hate the new Domino's pizza I think it's disgusting! We have 2 really good places here in town that have great Pizza one being Chi-Chi's pizza and the other being carousos pizza. very very good stuff. That fast food pizza chain pizza sucks.

There are a few things that make it better and different back east in NY then in other states. One is the water, If you haven't had pizza with "wet mozzarella cheese then you are missing out right red?

I grew up in the Chicago suburbs and there were some local pizza places that made excellent pizza. In the 27 years I have lived in Texas I have not tasted one pizza that even comes close to what I grew up on.

Some parts of the country are known for excellent pizza (NY, Chicago) and some just get by on Dominos.

Herp a derp. This whole "Pizza is better from _______" argument. We cook our pizza on THIS brick oven. Even the bricks are made in NY!

I've eaten at a local place here called Leones and I'd put it up against any of these other places, no matter where the location is.

It's a pride thing. Naturally people from NY say their pizza is best, people from Chicago say their pizza is best, so on and so forth.
