Dallas kept the guy I wanted and I hope Parnell enjoys losing :)

I think we see a RT drafted in this draft, mid-rounder.......

Doug Free with the other members of the Dallas Offensive Line.

Jeremy Parnell with the other members of the Jags Offensive Line.

Think about that for a moment.

SI.com had Parnell rated #92 out of the top 100 veteran FAs. Sounds pretty pedestrian but I'll be curious to see how he does in another uniform. Not so sure the Jags will bring out the best in him but we'll see about that later.

I agree with every word of that. My point is that NFL votes with dollars and the votes that Parnell is a better player going forward came in at 2 to 1 for Parnell.

I disagree.

Doug Free gets a vote too, and he decided that finishing his career in Dallas, with this team and these linemates was more important than going elsewhere for all that he can get like Parnell did.

And the only team that has voted that way is Jacksonville - a bad team with plenty of holes and plenty of cash. And they offered so much more than the rest of the NFL, Parnell has already taken the money and run before free agency has even officially started.

Tells me all I need to know.

Parnell got 13M guaranteed on a 5 year, 32M deal.

Free got 6M guaranteed on a 3 year, 15M deal.

XWalker was right on who the better player is going forward.
Yeah, the JAGS pay big money to him. That must mean he's the better player and can even be their LT. What a joke.

Yeah, two players in totally different situations. If anything, you would say Dallas decided Parnell was not a better option. He's three years younger. You can rationalize paying more. They didn't. Instead they wanted a couple more years of Free until they find their next RT.

No disrespect to Darrion Weems.

going by what they got paid?

that would make many washouts lining up for the HOF wouldn't it?

silly the "facts" people pull to prove a point no one really gives monkey farts about.

Absolutely, I'm sure Free took less money and Parnell was overpaid. But that doesn't account for Parnell getting twice as much money. If Free was as good as this Forum makes him (and not the injury risk this Forum ignores) his agent would have gotten him a bigger contract with more money guaranteed.

I'm not beating a dead horse, I mostly think its funny that XWalker had to listen to so many people say Parnell completely sucked and when Parnell gets twice as much guaranteed money no one can acknowledge he was right on Parnell's development.

Free's also 31. Parnell is 28.

But hey, when you think Darrion Weems is in the pipeline as your future starting RT, you probably think Jermey Parnell is a talent we just couldn't afford to keep.

Parnell will be 29 in 3 months.

Money does not make a player better. If it did Roy Williams would have been a great player for Dallas, god knows he got the money.

Exceptions don't make the rule.

Zach Martin was paid 1.6M last year, therefore All Pro linemen should only be paid 1.6M. See how easy that is?

LOL. And why do you think he signed before FA opened? Because his agent forgot? Because he doesn't like money?

Free resigned for half of what Parnell got because that was the best offer on the table. He probably gave Dallas a slight discount and Jacksonville did overpay to bring Parnell in, but that doesn't account for Parnell getting TWICE what Free did.

You've never heard of a guy taking less money because he likes the situation he is in? You honestly have no clue what Free would have gotten from other teams, and that is a fact. Free likely had a number he was willing to accept to stay here that he was happy with.

It comes down to this: Free probably took less because he wanted to be a Cowboy for life with his buds. Parnell
wanted to make new buds in Jax and Jax had a suitcase full of money. Paycheck players always take the cash.

Dallas paid a butt load to CB Carr a few years ago in FA.

Not exactly the best player now for the Money...even if they thought so back at that time.

Just saying

It was reported that McCourty was offered more from other teams but stayed with the Pats.

I don't know if Free would take that much less to stay with the Cowboys or that he would have made Close to what Parnell made with the Jags.

Do you think he took HALF of what he could have gotten? If he did he is the second person in NFL history to do so. Pat Tillman was the first.
