Parsons makes game changing plays and he’s made our defense great. DWare had a lot of empty sacks and we never had a good defense with him. I’m certainly not saying he wasn’t a great player because he was but he never took our defense or team to another level. We’re currently sitting here right now 4-1 with a backup QB because of Parsons and our defense. Some are calling Parsons the best player in the entire league. DWare never reached that level. I can’t recall any Cowboys player in the history of the franchise reaching that level. Micah Parsons is the talk of the NFL.
Empty sacks? Turn in your football card. You're not understanding this.

Then you should stop listening to whatever bozo is spewing that. What a horrific take.
My ears work. I can't do anything about hearing bozo's speak. But yes, that was the knock on Ware for awhile. Lack of crunch time success and game ending sacks.

The local media constantly brought this up during Ware’s last few years. Your right on there.
Ware was a great player, but I remember the criticism very well. I’d have liked to see a little more help on the other side when he played. Pairing him with Von Miller in Denver really complimented his game well.

It's been said that a lot of Ware sacks came early in the game. Barely had any crunch time sacks. Parsons is Mr. Crunch Time right now.
The sad thing is that this is verifiable wrong. Just take the time to go to any site that splits out stats by quarters and/or downs, and you will see Ware had PLENTY of sacks in the 4th Quarter AND on 3rd Down.

The problem with the perception of Ware is that he never "lead the team to any playoff success".

Yet, he usually did more than his part. Like against Seattle, on 1st-&-Goal from the 1, after a DPI call, he tackled Shawn Alexander for a 7 yard loss. That ended up leading to a 4th down attempt from the 2 by Seattle where the D did not allow the completion. Turnover on Downs. Of course, on the VERY FIRST offensive play by Dallas, Terry Glenn fumbles the ball for a safety and gives it right back to Seattle. The D just played their butts off to keep the lead, only to be hung out by the offense by not even giving them time to get a drink of water. Of course Seattle scores on the drive when the defense was wiped out, and then the ST had a chance at the end, but there was a shiny ball that had other plans.

It will be very, very sad that IF Parsons never wins a Super Bowl with Dallas, how the fans will "remember" how he "barely had any crunch time sacks" either.

Yet, as long as he can stay healthy, it looks like he will be right up there with the best defenders the Cowboys ever had, regardless of rings or not.

But, since he didn't win a ring in Dallas, and regardless if he is a HOF player and one of the best to ever play in Dallas, fans will say he was "never clutch" in Big D.

I think Parsons has a little more dog in him than Ware. Mean streak if you will. Paraphrasing here, but Bill Parcels was asked one time , what he’d change in Ware’s game, and he said he wished he had more of a mean streak.
Can’t say now how Parsons career will end up, compared to the great Dware, but he has all the tools to be just as good if not better.

Parsons is more violent, more competitive, more of a big play guy. Can sense the moment. Better leader in that way.

Bingo.

Ware was great- but Micah is alien in ability with far better instincts.

He is as transformative a Defender as is made in the modern NFL.

His intensity demands answer- from everyone, friend or foe.

This is a Ray Lewis meets Derrick Thomas hybrid: he cannot be stopped, and EVERYONE involved in a contest he is on the field for- better be ready.

We have the dumbest fan base in modern sports. It's not even close, this thread proves it and KJJ is leading it.

It wasn't fans saying it. It was the sports media. The talk show host or talking heads as some would say.

All these knuckleheads have to do is look it up. It's not hard.

https://www.espn.com/nfl/player/splits/_/id/8426/type/nfl/year/2005

Let's start in his prime years

2006 4th quarter sacks: 0, which wasn't his norm
2007: 4th quarter sacks: 1
2008: 4th quarter sacks: 2. Within 2 minutes of half: 7
2009: 4th quarter sacks: 2. Within 2 minutes of half: 4
2010: 4th quarter sacks: 3. Within 2 minutes of half: 5
2011: 4th quarter sacks: 4. Within 2 minutes of half 1
2012: 4th quarter sacks: 2.5. Within 2 minutes of half 2.5

I guarantee if you compare these to his peers, they'd be relatively equal or greater

How about post-season? He has 7.5 sacks with 5 trips to the playoffs. 1 in 2007, 3 in 2009, and 3.5 in 2015

Anyone suggesting he disappeared in the post-season or in the 4th quarter have no idea what they are babbling about.

That’s because, generally speaking, Cowboys fans rarely know what they are talking about.

Ware was too nice.. like the rest of that defense.. Newman, James, Spears, Canty, Henry. Ratliff was the only one who played mean. Give me Micah and the Mechanics.

Ware was an elite every down player at the LOS in his prime. Parsons cannot play every down at the LOS. He is a better pass rusher though.

It was stupid spew started by some talking head that got repeated.

If a person doesn't feel dumb reiterating that Ware disappearance crapp, then they are dumb.

Good stuff, Sir Matt.
