Parsons: I don't have to be the highest paid

In all honesty his agent will push for the max and the important part will be the guaranteed money. There’s going to be a lot of dead money down the road, Jerry believes he has a SB team every year and paying his guys is his way of operating. There’s been some good teams the last 9 years but the coaching as was balanced O and D is lacking. Need a new HC and a lot of help for a QB that’s not elite in any area. Jerry still living in the triplets mentality and still thinking that’s what wins. The FO isn’t changing so it will be more of the same.
Couldn't agree more......as for the Triplet days......one thing for sure......the others on the field were dawgs & ball hawks. We've been suffering from talent evaluation, player development and draft selection (mid-later rounds) since Jimmy left. Gone are the days of small schools or HBCU search. Agree about QB play.....you can't go with "play with less".....simply not gonna work. Staubach (pre-Jerry) and Aikman didn't have to do it, but Romo & Dak, that's another story.

Micah will be the highest paid defensive player ever.

Bookmark this.
That is a good bet. The sentiments he’s expressing are simply to avoid the vitriol Dak Prescott is getting now. I believe his agent is behind these statements and I believe Jerry Jones knows he’s going to be offering another huge contract to secure Parson’s services.

What’s hard to believe is there are fans who can’t understand what he’s doing. Micah and his agent are already out in front of Jerry in contract negotiations.

Until I'm blue in the face I will repeat the Eagles have 350 million dollars in void year contracts for future seasons. It hasn't stopped them from competing and being aggressive in FA.

I agree with you, our fans have to stop giving Jerry any out. There are too many levers and mechanisms to manipulate with the cap.
It’s true in a way what you say but they actually have a SB window and they also know that they will have a point with a lot of dead money that will affect future cap significantly. The cap is real and that 20 million is reserved for MP and there’s going to be dead money and Jerry thinks 4 or 5 players grabbing a large chunk of the cap are going to make the team a top contender and unfortunately the last 29 years say otherwise. 89 million for a beat up QB who missed games in the last few years coming off a serious injury 34 million for a WR so the answer is pull a lever flip a switch and dump that money into void years is your answer, just have to laugh

Micah is challenging the front office to sign him before free agency and he'll give them a bit of a discount if they use that money to improve the team in March.

Now watch what they do. Nothing.

Just my opinion, but since you ask:

Micah is talking like it's his job to HELP the team manage the salary cap. (Micah you don't work for the front office during negotiations)
Micah is talking like he is willing to take a reduction in projected salary value so TEAM can put other players around. (Not his job and is a myth that has fans thinking Dak's contract, but not Cee Dee's, has them is dire straits)
Micah is talking like he would give a discount (Hmmm...no big deal between 30M & 40M)
Micah let the agent work the deal (Market value is more important now than actual worth....we know he's not the best DE but market value & timing may grant more)

We already know Micah is with plenty of gum flapping during his podcasts....... I just think Micah is setting precedent about salary negotiations talk that will come up at the table, talking out the side of his mouth (he's the leader?), let the "professional" (agent) do their job on his behalf, and stop trying to play "GM" for the team.

Just my opinion......not my problem or heartache if he settles for less or more. I just think he should be careful with words when negotiating in "public". The room doors will be closed when agent walks in to sit across Jerry/Stephen.
In the end, it actually makes me no nevermind.....just posting an opinion on the matter, but I do hope he remains with the team and everyone is happy, but I know he is heading in changed fanbase tune (more vitriol), once it's over.
Fair enough. CowboysZone is Cowboyszone. :)

We should keep in mind he's offering to do this so Jerry and Stephen spend/attack free agency. What if he does it and they don't.....

So, I guess what Micah said means that he "gets it", so does that tell us the Dak did not "get it"?

I guess Micah does not care about "the brotherhood", huh.

Actions speak louder than words and we'll see how this plays out, but the idea Parsons mentioned retaining others suggests he understands the impact large contracts have on the salary cap.
I def think he means it but I'm more concerned about his version of "attacking free agency VS Stephen Jones' version....it matters IMO. The tone of his statement seems to suggest he expects he's expecting Stephen to sign some mid-high level free agents. We all know that hasn't happened in a long time......

I don’t know why people care how much players get paid or don’t get paid.
Do you have low intelligence? You can't possibly fathom why fans are concerned with contracts in a salary cap era that has a big impact on the ability to compete for and win the SB? Or are you just being intentionally obtuse to try and score a pathetically weak "gotcha"?

Has to be one or the other, moron or liar.
