I love how fans are still trying to blame players. The Cowboys went into this season with massive holes all over the roster and $20M of unspent cap space.

I hope Micah gets every penny he can from Jerry, not like it’s going to be used for good in another way. We are going on 20 years of evidence at this point and somehow you people can’t see that.

November 23, 2024 sub-discussion excerpt:

___________

Question..?

Why must Micah Parsons 'need to simply be quiet in the media' in your opinion?
Just my opinion, but since you ask:

Micah is talking like it's his job to HELP the team manage the salary cap. (Micah you don't work for the front office during negotiations)
Micah is talking like he is willing to take a reduction in projected salary value so TEAM can put other players around. (Not his job and is a myth that has fans thinking Dak's contract, but not Cee Dee's, has them is dire straits)
Micah is talking like he would give a discount (Hmmm...no big deal between 30M & 40M)
Micah let the agent work the deal (Market value is more important now than actual worth....we know he's not the best DE but market value & timing may grant more)

We already know Micah is with plenty of gum flapping during his podcasts....... I just think Micah is setting precedent about salary negotiations talk that will come up at the table, talking out the side of his mouth (he's the leader?), let the "professional" (agent) do their job on his behalf, and stop trying to play "GM" for the team.

Just my opinion......not my problem or heartache if he settles for less or more. I just think he should be careful with words when negotiating in "public". The room doors will be closed when agent walks in to sit across Jerry/Stephen.
In the end, it actually makes me no nevermind.....just posting an opinion on the matter, but I do hope he remains with the team and everyone is happy, but I know he is heading in changed fanbase tune (more vitriol), once it's over.

You know Micah is lying, right?

Dak said he didn't play for the money also then a week later started his "for the QB brotherhood" junk.
We do not know he is lying yet. And I do not recall Dak every saying anything like this. We all surmised Dak would want $60 million long before his deal was done.

Right now I will take Parsons on his word. But not he said $40 million. He could still ask for $35 million which would be an enormous salary too.

MountaineerCowboy.......why should an NFL player settle for less, with negotiating power courtesy of Agent, play on the field and market value, in this violent sport filled with injuries, possible career-enders, and short-term career expectancy?

Example: Nick Chubb (Cleveland) will never get his true worth now, from anybody.
Don’t tell me, tell the people that believe him.

You don’t recall Dak saying that?

All it takes it 1 Google search to refresh your memory.

You guys do realize it doesn’t matter if he takes a $5-10 million dollar cut right?

That is one bottom to mid tier free agent you can add to your roster. It doesn’t matter.

If you want to add good players, you can at any time by flipping a few switches on contracts and deferring cash to future season. That is the ONLY way you will ever be able to sign real free agents. Our front office just refuses to play the game.

It will be interesting to see if young Mr. Parsons walks-the-walk when contract time approaches; I’m betting maybe Micah got a call from his agent…imploring Micah to leave the negotiations to his representation.

Fans? Lol!! These guys don't know a damn thing. Like they'd put their families aside and take less money, in a job that can be taken away in a heartbeat. Anyone that says they would is either a liar or married a supermodel like Tom Brady.

Once his Agent and the NFLPA inject themselves into the negotiations, Parsons will get the biggest contract ever for a non-QB.

You'd think a franchise QB would have this mindset, but nope. Kudos to Parsons for putting it out there. I'm sure his agent is furious.

Dak said the same basic nonsense.

Neither one of them means it.

If Parsons does actually take less, I'll eat my words and give him all the credit in the world. As of now, anyone believing this is gullable.

Until I'm blue in the face I will repeat the Eagles have 350 million dollars in void year contracts for future seasons. It hasn't stopped them from competing and being aggressive in FA.

I agree with you, our fans have to stop giving Jerry any out. There are too many levers and mechanisms to manipulate with the cap.

The fact people have just gobbled up Jerry’s slop about a few big contracts being the reason Dallas can’t sign a single free agent of note ever is just pathetic.

Every good team in the league has as many or more big contracts as Dallas, yet they still manage to add. That’s because they’re not afraid of signing bonuses and deferring cap hits to future seasons in order to win TODAY.

Say Micah signs for $5-10 mil less than market rate. That gets you a single low-mid level free agent. It gets you Tyler Biadasz. That is not a needle mover. Any team serious about winning can free up $60+ million any any given year by flipping a few switches on contracts. Dallas just refuses to play the game because our GM is a loser.

Nice article.......but Micah needs to simply be quiet in the media and let his agent do the talking. He's all over the place talking about his pending negotiation and may find out the negotiating room could get ruthless, frank, truthful, and show video of play......then what? It would not be personal.....just business. Hope he understands.
In all honesty his agent will push for the max and the important part will be the guaranteed money. There’s going to be a lot of dead money down the road, Jerry believes he has a SB team every year and paying his guys is his way of operating. There’s been some good teams the last 9 years but the coaching as was balanced O and D is lacking. Need a new HC and a lot of help for a QB that’s not elite in any area. Jerry still living in the triplets mentality and still thinking that’s what wins. The FO isn’t changing so it will be more of the same.

Actually he did among other things like I’d play for free but here you go
