Linebacker isn't a position of weakness, nor is this linebacker going to completely change or defense or our team.

An elite running back can do that.

LBers are more important than most people give them credit but still not as important as DL. They are still part of pass defense. There haven't been too many RBs or recent that wear that mantle.

Patrick Robinson has only played 2 full seasons his entire career. IF we are thinking about Robinson being Carr's replacement, we better get another veteran CB in here. I would not be against signing Robinson and Hall or Powers.

Give them the La'el Collins treatment and let them dine at Palacio de Jerry instead of treating them to a steak an potato joint.

Two days, and going by his last year's one year deal...

Per Ian Rapaport of NFL.com, the Cowboys will continue on their search for a free agent cornerback when they host former Charger and Saint Patrick Robinson starting on Sunday.

After his first five years in New Orleans, Robinson, 28, spent last season in San Diego on a one-year deal worth $2 million; an annual figure where he would be expected to land in this year’s market.

This seems like a crowded secondary, which isn't a huge problem obviously, but how would this work? Carr moves to #2 while Claiborne's playing time gets cut?

It would be really dumb to sign Robinson and keep Carr with Scandrick and Claiborne here. You have number 4 and 5 corners with Mitchell and Olatoye plus anyone we draft. We can't afford that many corners AND keep Carr.

Would Dallas move Scandrick to CB? Robinson only looked acceptable at slot. Not enough of signing to pressure Carr to reduce Salary.

Robinson was an outside corner last year. Scandrick would stay in the slot.

"Robinson was wildly inconsistent with the Saints, which is why the Chargers were able to land him on a one-year deal last season. Like he did in New Orleans, he excelled as a nickel corner. Some of his best football has been played when he's been the nickel corner, and not asked to be a starter. There's great value in that since teams are now in nickel 65 percent of the time. Robinson can play inside in the slot, but can also go outside in man coverage."

IMO, best bet. Scandrick outside covering teams best receiver, Mo as the #2 and Robinson in the slot.

If a FA CB is signed, and one is drafted, I believe Carr will be cut after June 1.

They don't have to wait, there is a special June 1 designation that can be used any time. If they do wait it so they can squeeze him and accept a paycut.

Jason's spent some good time on the phone with them,'' Jones said. "So have we. Obviously we tried to get them in there before we left but in their particular cases it didn't work out that way.''

Both players were scheduled to arrive in Dallas Sunday and will meet with position coaches tonight and Monday. Jones indicated everyone is on the same page with how to proceed if the players are interested in signing with the Cowboys.

Claiborne + Robinson >= 16 games, maybe.

He didn't play in the slot last year and graded out better than what our team rolled out weekly...

Robinson enjoyed a breakout season in San Diego this past year, grading out as PFF's No. 28 overall corner out of 118 qualifiers, playing well in coverage and against the run. Prior to 2015, the former first-rounder was probably closer to being out of the league. Robinson comes with some risk, but he could prove to be a bargain signing as long as his market doesn't get out of control. Mar 7 - 5:57 PM
