You don't need 3, three down linebackers, because one is going to come off the field regardless in the nickel and dime packages.

As for McClain only being here for one more year, I wouldn't say that is likely at all. If he stays out of trouble and has a similar season to what he has in the last two, I expect him to get a long term deal.

That will be true some of the time and probably much more than that. But LB is one of the most oft injured positions so having three cover LBers is good although I don't call McClain a cover LBer. I'd call Wilson, Smith and even Hitchens more of a cover LBer esp the first two.

Yes, McClain would be the guy coming off

We know the Cowboys like having LB's that can play multiple roles. Jack fits that very well and could be the best of the trio that would be starting. Lee and McClain are good, Jack's potential is to be better than either.

I suspect he will be a good cover LBer but he needs to be around awhile before I crown him the new King.

No problem with that. I still am not sure which way I would go. I am still thinking trade down if possible. More picks. I can see any of the guys mentioned at the top...Elliott, Bosa, Jack, Ramsey...not a big fan of the Oregon DE....better fit inside or in 3-4.

That is what I thought.

You lack the intellectual capacity to think beyond the moment.

Nor do you even know or take the time to see "who is left out there".

You would rather be smug about things you don't know, but when it comes down to actual knowledge of the subject matter, it becomes very clear you have no idea what you are talking about.

So you ask questions. Like you just did, hoping people get bored and ignore it.

I don't pretend to know everything. You just think I do.

And when I know more than you, it makes you lash out.

Sorry for that.

Not a substantial thought in this entire post.

Just baseless insults.

I'd draft a QB but they may be gone. I'd have no problems moving up from R1-4 or R2-34 for a QB.

Answer the questions then.

Don't just whine about the insults.

Truth is, you can't.

Lovely strawman. You want me to answer a question that would require i've spent thousand of hours scouting every free agent defensive end.

I have not done this. Have you?

It's actually a trick question, the other teams' scouting departments have already answered it for you.

Its a balance. Need vs. Value. Oline for instance.. We have no need.. Certain positions you don't pick that high. TE, RB, Center.

If Tunsil is by some miracle on the board at 4 the Cowboys would take him.
BPA is the BPA regardless of position.

Absolutely true, but we have Hitchens and Wilson. I'd rather focus resources to players that will have a higher percentage of snaps.

If we draft Myles Jack Marinelli will adjust his scheme accordingly. He isn't going to take Sean Lee off the field to put a guy like Terrence Mitchell in his place, he is going to come up with a unique way to attack offenses with 3 LBs that can all cover, blitz and play the run as well.

Or Marinelli will say, don't draft him.

Well, if they take Jack then he'll be worked into the rotation likely at Will and Sam. I say Sam since he can blitz there. I'm not in favor of taking a LB at 4 but Myles would upgrade the unit esp if looked at over the season. He would create a problem in that really he needs to be the Will and then that displaces a very very good LB in Lee who would likely end up as the Sam at some point in the season at least for non-obvious passing downs. Unless they can move Ro there. Interesting problem to have though.

BPA on the Cowboys board no one knows. On Ourlads, Tunsil is #5.
1 Joey Bosa DE Ohio State
2 DeForest Buckner DT Oregon
3 Ronnie Stanley OT Notre Dame
4 Jalen Ramsey CB/S Florida State
5 Laremy Tunsil OT Mississippi

What's it going to be then, eh?

Ourlads also has Stanley going number one. Won't happen.

Linebacker isn't a position of weakness, nor is this linebacker going to completely change or defense or our team.

An elite running back can do that.
