Patriots to get J. Peppers...

Peppers will only accept a trade to a 3-4 team and apparently 1 of 5 teams, which happens to include Dallas.

I'd be very surprised Dallas wasn't in on this if this was the cost. I suspect Dallas would gladly give up Ellis plus a pick for Peppers. Jerry loves big name guys. I can't see any team thinking a 3rd plus Ellis is worse than a straight up 2nd.

If I were Carolina, I'd prefer to take our 2nd plus Ellis and possibly a 5th or 6th rounder than a high 2nd.

Maybe the cost is too prohibitive, or that JJ thinks Peppers is solely looking for a big payday and once he gets his money, that's about it.

I don't know.

But Ware and Peppers on the outside could be a scary combo for opposing offenses - if Peppers is motivated.

I'd be surprised if we ofered our 2nd + Ellis + a 6th or 7th.

Ellis and a third maybe??? Hmmm..I'd be down with that!

Is it New Englands 2nd or the Chiefs 2nd?

The Chiefs, I believe.

Yes it is.....and genius. You lost a backup qb and an aging LB, for Peppers!

They also missed the playoffs because of that backup QB.

Brady would have taken them to the superbowl if not won it..

If you want that trade off then be my guest..

Wow. That would be a nice pickup for the Patriots. They'll be tough again, even without Peppers, cause they're just a darn good team and they'll have their boy back at QB.

something major has to happen for the Pat's not to go undefeated.

Like a loss maybe. :D

Now how is it when the Cowboys get players their buying a championship but when the beloved Patriots do it, there making smart moves:confused:

It's a double standard..

And they've won three superbowls this decade.

sure, for 25 mil up front and 80 total.

bottom line is he won't be cheap by any means

...and we are talking about a guy who has 3.5 less sacks than Ellis over the past 2 seasons

...and he is 29 years old

...but yes he is a 10 sack per year type player where Ellis is an 8 that is 33.

Is that difference worth 70 mil? I don't think so.
As if that's the difference between Ellis and Peppers. I can't believe anybody even posted that.

Peppers is the guy defenses key on against Carolina. Ellis is an afterthought for teams playing Dallas.

Yeah and people still say the Cowboys bought their championships back in the 90's

It's only attempting to buy them when you don't win. When you do these things and win it's called being a smart football franchise.

When you play Dallas the #1 thing you have to worry about on Defense is our blitz schemes.

Ellis being one of the guys who is successful at getting to the Quarterback has to make you believe he isn't just some after thought.

I know everyone is all aboard the "we hate Greg Ellis because he whines to much" train, but Ellis has played hard for the Cowboys and has done a heck of a job for this franchise.

Even when we were bad he gave it his all.

I haven't been to happy with Ellis lately but I will always appreciate the job he has done to try and help my favorite team win.

Compare the Pats' results vs. the Cowboys and Commanders.

They generally do make smart moves, while the Cowboys and Commanders usually do not.
