...and the rich keep getting richer!!! Maybe they'll have the same problem Dallas had last season, too many stars & egos and not enough substance...or, they could make a run @ 19-0!! Damn, I'll be jealous as hell if this comes to fruition.

Our problem wasn't too many stars, lol....

The Cheatriots continue to cheat. Of course they're going to deny that they've had any conversations with the Panthers. They're cheaters. They cheated the system and got away with 3 SBs. What's going to prevent them from cheating the collective bargaining agreement?

A first round draft pick when they have two, a 250K fine to the head coach, and another 500K fine for a billionaire?

Maybe I should say: "Too many WANNABE stars who see themselves as too good to be led by (perceived) lesser players and as a result, never meshed together as a team."

did they go 16-0 every yr and win every super bowl with him?
you said they will go 10-6 or 11-5. they were 11-5 last year without Brady and there new additions. barring injury to Tom they will be 14-2 at the worst.

Again, we'll see.

To think Brady is going to be 100% his old self from day one is a stretch. And he's gonna get hit and pressured some. While I think McDaniels is going to be a flop as a HC, he was a good OC. He's a big loss.

So we shall see. I never said they'd be a worse team than last yr, I just said I wouldnt be surprised if they were 10-6 or 11-5

if they finish 10-6 than they will end up being a worse team. also Charlie Weiss, joe schmo, josh McDaniels it doesn't matter who the OC is cause they have the best HC in the game right now.

Lesser record doesnt always mean lesser team

The Giants team this yr had a better record than last yrs team, but it wasnt as good.

Don't necessarily disagree but want to point out the difference between a field general and someone who has the tools. Obviously it takes both to be a great player and at least you must have the tools to be a good one at the QB position.

But to call Brady the best of all time is too much for an old-timer like me. Granted QBs in this day and age don't really call plays as in the 'old days' but I think it's a mistake to overlook it. I'm sure people are tired of my proclaiming Johnny Unitas as the greatest QB of all time but its certainly not due to his arm which was above average at best. Brady can definitely execute but I wouldn't even put him on the same level as Romo regarding the ability to improvise. And Romo is not as good as others in the league like McNabb in that respect.

I'm sure many would agree and I could argue Brady as the greatest of all time if I felt that way. But there is more to it than just the ability to pass accurately and remain calm and focused. Which Brady has in spades.

Maybe I'm just be argumentative. Wouldn't be the first time. JMO.

I didnt call him the best of all time. I called him the best today and one of the best all time, which he clearly is, even old timer's know that.

When it is all said and done I think he will have more championships than any other qb.

He is a fabulous player.

I'd bet he doesnt. In fact I dont think he'll win one more as a starter, let alone two more.

No way. Brady will not be 100%. I'll take that bet right now (case of Heineken).

Thank you! I was waiting for someone to say this. There is no assurance that Brady will be the same as he was before he got injured. There is no telling how that knee will respond to the pounding. Maybe Brady does comes back like he never missed a game, but I darn sure wouldn't bet on it.;)

Panthers prohibited from Peppers talks

Associated Press

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The Carolina Panthers denied a report Monday they've discussed trading four-time Pro Bowl defensive end Julius Peppers to the New England Patriots.

Peppers
Peppers

The reason: They aren't allowed to have any trade talks involving Peppers until he signs his one-year tender worth $16.7 million -- or until his agent brokers a deal with another team and comes to Carolina for approval.

NFL.com, citing unidentified sources, reported the Panthers and Patriots were close to a deal that would send Peppers to the Patriots for New England's second-round pick, 34th overall, that was acquired from Kansas City in the Matt Cassel trade.

"By the rules of the [collective bargaining agreement] we cannot and have not had any conversations with other teams about Julius," Panthers general manager Marty Hurney said in a statement. "Under the non-exclusive franchise tag, Julius and his agent, Carl Carey, are within their rights to talk to other teams about a potential contract. However, at this point, we are not aware of any such conversations."

Carey did not immediately return phone and e-mail messages seeking comment.

Peppers, the No. 2 overall pick in the 2002 draft and Carolina's all-time sacks leader, announced after the season that he wanted to play elsewhere, and preferably move to outside linebacker in a 3-4 defense, which New England employs.

But the Panthers still placed the franchise tag on Peppers, which allows teams to sign Peppers only if they surrender two first-round picks in return. However, Peppers and his agent could work out a deal for less compensation and take it to the Panthers for approval. A trade could avoid an ugly holdout.

Even though Peppers has not signed the tender, that money counts against Carolina's salary cap, giving it virtually no room to sign other players in free agency.

Communicating with two sources close to the "Peppers to Patriots" sandstorm that blew up suddenly Monday afternoon, I've learned...
1. Julius Peppers would indeed be interested in playing for the Patriots.
2. It's a virtual certainty that he will not.
The sources, obviously coming from different sides of the issue, didn't go into greater detail beyond what I've shared .. no talk about contracts, salary cap, compensation back to Carolina or fits in the Patriots defensive scheme. That is, as they say, what it is.
While the unlikelihood of the pieces falling together was something I looked at last night, Adam Schefter of NFL.com and the NFL Network was a morning guest on Boston's WEEI and poured the first bucket of ice water on the notion.
Turns out - as it often does - Schefter was pretty accurate.

So if the Pats are "unlikely to trade for him", then that leaves us and 2 other NFC teams that are unidentified.

Maybe we have a shot if we dump Ellis for the cap room????

I doubt it, that would make Spencer a wasted 1st rounder sine he would be nothing more than a backup in this scenario.

Would making Spencer DE on third downs or obvious passing downs work?
