Isn't that what our front office and scouts said about Mo. I think I read that some of our scouts said that Mo was the best CB since Deion.

Actually many teams freeze their boards at the end of the season and then hold the scouts accountable to state their cases for movement up or down with the Combine or workouts.

If a team is "grading" a player after the Combine, they are kind of doing it wrong and it makes the year long process pretty useless if it has a great amount of weight.

That seems like a nonsensical way to do things to me. You have to account for everything in a players profile. If a WR runs a 4.80 at the combine, that shouldn't need to be explained as to why they need to be moved down. The best way to do it is a weighted system with emphasis put on certain aspects. Yes tape should make up 80-90% of a grade, but that other 10-20% can be the difference in a 1st Rd grade vs 3rd Rd.

Mo was suppose to be better than Peterson remember? And while he was rated as the top defensive player that year, he did fall to 6 remember? Everybody was like, I can't believe he's falling and then Jerry swooped in. Maybe it was that wonderlic score? Who knows!

I do know this, our scouts suck generally after the 1st round.

Except Mo wasnt a fraction of the athlete Deion or Peterson are.

The Combine results should be viewed as reasons to revisit, not revise, evaluations.

yeah, I name (insert name here) as the guy the cowboys have on their big board.....there is no big board, there is only a grouping, in my opinion at this point...perhaps Ramsey was at the top of the "CB" list

And when was the last time we were in the top 10 and didn't draft a DB? Had to be early '90's.

In the event it is accurate, it goes to show you exactly how broken this franchise is.

No DB unless they are Deion Sanders-level elite, has any business being at the top of any team's board.

The skinny: I don't know whether he's overrated or not, but I do know that he's a premium athlete who is likely to have a big NFL Scouting Combine. I feel certain he'll be drafted early, but at what position? The most interesting conversation within the scouting community is whether to draft Ramsey as a cornerback or a safety. Most of the personnel men I've spoken with see safety as his best position.

Seems like Kevin Smith was the last good DB they drafted high.

He was a late first round pick too. But I do like Byron Jones late in the first last year.

In the top 10, Roy Williams started strong and then faded after year 2-3 years. Newman was above avg. and has had a long career but never really lived up to his top 5 draft status. Claiborne has been mostly a bust so far.

Can't believe we'll once again consider another DB in the top 10, and one that most can't decide is a CB or safety.

No, my own standard is I am not taking a DB in a draft without knowing what they will do, much less have to decide how on earth they fit in our scheme.

A franchise QB that your own staff has deemed a fit is far more valuable, even if they sit.

I asked simply, what is he going to do in Marinelli's scheme? You don't answer, mainly because you are incapable.

Take your own advice.

So the staff can deem a qb as a for but not a scheme versatile secondary player.

Because that makes sense... Oh wait no it doesn't.

Also, the last three times we drafted in the top 10 we took a DB. It's like they take everyone else off the board when we are in this position.
