News: Per Eatman: Josh Brent placed on Retired/Reserved List

We need DT help with or without Brent..........

How many DT's do most teams carry? Without Brent, we still have five on the roster as I recall. It wasn't an urgent need before the draft. I don't think losing someone who wasn't being counted on at all, changes that.

True...

They said Russell has the frame to add some weight, slide inside. DLaw can play some on the inside, as well as Mincey. Coaches like T. McClain as well. And he was not 100% all of last year.
Hayden, though not great, but he isn't a bum either. But they could upgrade. Even Hardy can play inside at times.

Then there are the 2nd year guys in Whaley and Coleman.

But yes, still could use some others for competition.

There is obviously more going on behind the scenes that we are not privy to. I'm going to respond to this news by praying for Brent as he continues to struggle with the disease that is alcoholism. I encourage anyone else inclined to do the same to do so.

Brent wanted to retire.

Very kind of the dolt to wait until after the draft to do it. On one hand, I hope it was a last minute decision that is on him and not something he made the team aware of prior to last weekend and they still ignored the position. We did not even address it in UDFA, only Chucky Hunter is going to camp and that is on a tryout basis. That is just criminal.

I think they likely told him he was being cut, and said that was it for him. It coincides with the rest of the players who were cut.

Then why not just cut him? A player can't place themselves on the reserve-retired list. The team does that.

My guess is that either:
1) Brent decided he did not have the desire to play any longer
2) Brent has had another issue with alcohol or some controlled substance

If it is with substance abuse it would ve like his 4th or 5th time. Time to move on from this clown.

It's not the quantity it's the quality.

The only guy to put up decent numbers last season over a large number of snaps was Crawford. And he only had 3 sacks. Everyone else is either:

-Unproven
-Only played a small amount of snaps due to injuries
-Sucked
