when do they say wether he gets probation or not?
when do they say wether he gets probation or not?
Brent was just found guilty. That answers that.
How many chances should a guy have? 2 DUI's that I know of and now he has killed someone. Stupidity is not a valid excuse. You cannot get hammered and drive and then kill someone and expect probation.
Pep, are you aware of the sentencing guidelines? Could the "affluenza" defense be used during sentencing?
The Judge that gave credence to that nonsense "afluenza" defense should be put in prison himself
I wouldn't say I'm rooting for it, the whole thing is a tragedy from start to finish. But if Brent is acquitted or ends up with a sentence that lets him join the team this year, I'm completely in favor of giving him the chance to go to training camp.
Doubtful many will admit but that's likely the case for a good number of posters.
We do need help on the D-Line. Look, there is a reason the organization has not distanced from Josh Brent. I heard a couple times today that Jerry was doing a interview in Mobile and stopped to take a call thinking the it could be the verdict coming in.
I don't believe he's innocent, so I can't say I want that, but I think the very best outcome for all parties is for him to be able to continue his NFL career, if he's in shape to do so, and for there to be a civil settlement with Jerry Brown's family. Ultimately, I'd like him to turn his life around, to make restitution, and to meet whatever criminal obligation he deserves. I hope he's also an object lesson to other players who are vulnerable to the same bad decisions.
And, if he's playing in the NFL at a high level, I'd much prefer that be in Dallas than in another city.

You can't drink and drive and not expect something bad to happen. Now he has to face the consequences of his actions. Worst part is he has to live with killing his friend.
There is a way for him to serve time and be in the NFL. I'd make him serve time served and serve more county jail time in ways that will allow him his career. He can report to jail overnight etc for a time and/or serve it in interrupted fashion. He can be on house arrest as well with freedom to go to job related places only. He also needs to be monitored and drug tested randomly every week at least once for a time. He should continue to see counselors the court approves of and be on probation for a few years at least. All this serves his addiction well and protects the public.
I think he should get a harsh sentence being the worst type of DWI offender that was reckless every step of the way even when he was out on bond awaiting trial.
