Jaylon looks like he's running with 20 pound concrete shoes on. I don't expect much from him this year.

It's his first day in pads in a year and a half. Don't you think it might be just a tad too soon to judge what he'll give us this year?

It's always an interesting read on the most talked about nerve in sports. As of April 2016, it was reported he had enough time to regrow 2 of the 6 inches needed for the nerve to fully heal. After that it seems to stall with no significant progress until this week. At 80% that leaves him with 1.2 inches to full regeneration, which we'll then have to see if he's truly 100 percent and pain free. It's hard to pinpoint exactly how much time that will take to occur, but if you average out the time from last April it could take about 6 months. Or if the nerve really just started making progress recently and has grown say 2 inches since March 2017 you could be talking as little as a month and a half to full regeneration.

Hopefully it does end up fully healing, but I would not be surprised one bit if he starts the season on the pup. Not worth further injury to the knee or over compensating leading to another injury... If he does make a comeback and has a great career, it will be one hell of an accomplishment.

got news for you. Practicing like he has means he cannot go on PUP. IF the boys tried that little trick it would blow up on them. Considering almost 80% of all the reports on Jaylon are positive I think right now anyone not thinking he will be on the active roster for the giants are simply out of touch.

no the nerve reached the destination long ago.
the nerve needs to regain in conduction properties - that is what is roughly said to be 80% at this point.
or 80% may mean the muscle is able to exert 80% of the force it needs to.
they did not go into details.
so we dont know which one, or just jaylon feels his leg is 80% there...

I'd imagine in a month or so he'll look a lot more comfortable out there in pads. The guy is overcoming a lot in his return to the field. Not only is he returning from a devastating injury, he's also making the jump from college to pro ball AFTER a nearly 2 year absence. The team is taking the right approach bringing him along very cautiously.

Stephen Jones confirmed the 80% regeneration during an interview yesterday with a San Antonio radio station.

If he can still run with 20 pound concrete shoes...get him out there NOW! But if he is having to run with 20 pound concrete shoes...we need to fire the equipment manager.

What's it going to be then, eh?

IR with the chance to return midseason is definitely a possibility. If he's as close as they say, I don't see the point in risking reinjury until he's 100%.
Burning one of the designations is not feasible. Those are like gold. They would just as soon carry him as a roster inactive. That honestly would be their only alternative.

For me the fact Jaylon is now at this point where he is in full pads and practicing with the team in contact drills is a big step forward. The team and Jaylon seem to be very encouraged by all of this and I have no reason not to be encouraged by what I am seeing from Jaylon.

My thoughts also. So many armchair doctors out there who want to appear smarter than they presumably are.

You dont need to be a doctor to see that he isnt running with the first team and they are acting like the guy is on pins and needles with what they allow him to do. That should tell you all you need to know. for anyone to expect this guy to be starting from day #1 AND playing at a pro bowl level is a bit naive.

Its encouraging for a full recovery, but I wouldnt expect the guy to be all world this year. Next year possibly. If he isnt 100% and they let him play all out then its just a matter of time before he gets hurt again.

I am not putting any expectation on him. As for reinjuring at this point? If the team doctor felt he was running a risk of further injury to the knee then he would not be out there. I fully expect Jaylon to be playing week 1 of the season.
