Rack, we all know that Rob Petitti has relatives who frequent this site.

Now, that doesnt mean we shouldn't post our criticisms or concerns about him. And I'll guarantee that any relative of a guy as tough as Petitti can take any criticism handed out.

That said, there is a more gentlemanly/appropriate way of stating your concerns, especially in light of what I stated above, than Petitti "sucks" he's a "loser" etc

For someone who has genuinely honored a family member, who clearly values family, quite honestly, I'm pretty amazed you'd put up a thread that is THIS over the top.

Pretty sad bud, pretty sad.

yeah but look at the bright side, at least he spelled the family name correctly.

*LMAO*

Ya know, I knew you'd respond like this...I figure anyone who has a kid who's mentally and physically tough enough to play in the NFL would just brush this kinda thing off like a gnat at a picnic.

Well done. Thanks for the laugh.

:laugh2:

Sorry about that Pittdawg.: I promise to write Petitti 100 times until I get it right.

Tell Rob to knock Strahan on his can a few times for us in NY.

I agree, really sad.

I muist be missing something. I didn't see anything that should evoke this kind of response to the way he played.

The whole OL played lousy. Petitti was a major culprit - but I realize he is a rookie 6th round pick. Looking at Tucker, he's a 2nd year undrafted FA.

Not downplaying their play, but this really comes down to BP and Jerry for not doing a better job at player acquisition.
Missing badly on so many high draft picks on the OL in recent years has resulted in us having to start inexperienced and low draftees and/or UDFA's.

We knew OL, RT and RG was a major problem for us going into the offseason last year and all we did was sign Rivera, who imo has been a major disappointment, and draft an OT in the 6th round. It's not really Petitti's fault our personnel is so bad that he's been forced to start all season.

Geez Rack, I think you completely blew the call on this one... who would you replace Pettitti with?

The problem IMHO began with Parcells tempting fate by saying, "hey, I only need one left tackle" Flozell didn't require much, if any help, so all we would have to do was help Pettiti, instead of helping both sides of the line. This same problem is probably also causing some of the run blocking problems. At least last year Julius had A side that he could run to. He doesn't have much now.

Parcells tried to address the RT position a number of times. In fact I'd say that Jacob Rogers was one of his only HUGE mistakes since he's been here. He thought he was getting a coach's son but didn't Hank Hill do some coaching? Cause Jacob sure reminded me of Bobby on King of the Hill.

like i said in another thread we can only upgrade so much in one offseason. parcells knows that we need better play from the oline and im sure he will do anything he can this offseason. so just chill people dont get so uptight!!! we are better then last year and played good against a top team in the nfl!

On the nosey.

Really well said.

I always used to scratch my head in amazement at how people would mangle Dave Campo. Was he a bad coach? You bet. Was he supposed to say to Jerry Jones "Uh, nah, I don't want the head coaching position"????

Parcells, who seems to have a blindspot every season, brought the team into this season very thin at the tackle positions.

It's not the fault of a 6th rounder that he's been pressed into service as a starter in his rookie season.

Parcells did it with QB last year...he KNEW QC was a huge risk given what we now know about him...yet our only option behind him was Vinny.

He did it at cornerback as well last year....

He's done it at the PK position too.

And none of it happened because we were restricted by the cap...the money was available.

i will. i really enjoy reading this board because i love the passion and knowledge of the cowboy fans. that said, i'd like to point out that rob has only 2 holding and 4 false start penalties, 5 or 6 sacks, has played opposite many of the best d-ends in the nfl, played through numerous injuries including a concussion and a high ankle sprain incurred against detroit all the while not missing a single snap from scrimmage. his play has been steady and has worked extremely hard to bring his game up to the nfl level. i believe he has done very well, but i'm only his father and what would anyone expect me to think.

Rivera is going NOWHERE. He has been the most consistent lineman we have. He hasn't played BAD this year. He just hasn't been exceptional.

Rogers is a given. He's gone.

Petitti isn't having problems with DEs running over him so strength isn't an issue. He's not athletic enough and sometimes (often) he completely misses his man, lets him run by unblocked cuz he doesn't know *** he's supposed to do.

I agree Rivera is probably going nowhere, but he has played lousy almost all yr..he's one of the reasons we cant run the ball on anyone and has given up a number of sacks or big hits on the QB...physically he just hasnt looked right all year...maybe its the back thing, I dunno...but he's been nowhere near as good as Larry Allen

I have a new found respect for you sir. I know how hard it can be to view such things about your son, but you have yet to pull a Phil Simms. You're allowing your son to grow up in the hard knock life of the NFL without being so defensive. Ive never really posted toward you, but its great to see how you handle your sons critics. I too think Rob has had a very tough adjustment, but what rookie doesn't. As a father myself, tell Rob from the Boys fans that we are behind him even when down on him, because as Boys we want the very best for all of our players. He has no choice but to get better especially playing against top level schedule that we have this year.

Exactly right.

I think the kids done darned well given the circumstances and I would expect the improvement he shows between this year and next will be very noticeable.

If the guy sucks he sucks. There shouldn't be any tip toeing around the subject just because it may hurt someone's feelings.

I highly doubt there'd be a lecture posted by a mod about board etiquette had the title read "Bledsoe Sucks", "Nguyen Sucks", or "Glover sucks.

Pettiti's not the only problem though. Half the guys on the line, the vets, aren't holding up their end of the bargain either.

At least Pettiti is a rookie, Allen and Rivera have no excuse for their poor play. They're supposed to be Pro Bowlers.

All I know is that he's a rookie who has worked extremely hard in tough circumstances; Parcells flat-out said he's got better feet and athleticism than Fabini of the Jets; and it's obvious he is one tough dude.

Parcells dig at Rob in his PC about him always walking around a little "dizzy", (that drew a lot of laughs from the press), tells you he likes Rob.

I believe he's done an admirable job being thrust into an NFL starting job and he will continue to improve with experience and time in the off-season program.
