You know, guys... Although Parcells obviously wants to win every single game, IMO he is building this team for next year. Do you think he really expects to win the Super Bowl this year with so many rookies and a brand new defensive scheme? He and Jeff Ireland have mentioned several times how much better the rookies will be next year. And if you remember, when Rogers got hurt again and it was obvious Parcells was giving up on him, rather than going out and getting a stopgap vet who would have been better in the short term, he pretty much made Rob the man right away. Why do you think he decided to do that?

Point being, Rob is a rookie, and all rookies have tough times. Parcells knows this as well as anyone, yet he went with him anyway. I personally suspect that losing all that weight so quickly was tough, and that Rob will be a completely different player after a full offseason of lifting and conditioning -- not to mention experience -- next year.

I think Parcells is playing to win this year, I just think like Juke said, there were too many holes to fix in one year. The offensive line needed to be fix, first priority was right guard and tackle. The guards looked much better than the offensive tackles in free agency so Jones/Parcells went for Rivera and hoped Tucker/Rogers/Petitti could hold down the fort at right tackle. Rogers was a bust. Petitti was a surprise. We were still managing until Flozell went down. Even Jones/Parcells admitted it was one of the injuries that they felt couldn't happen if the Cowboys were to succeed. Sometimes winning those Super Bowls is luck. It's "may the healthiest team win" in parity.

I've never EVER praised Petitti cuz there's been nothing worth praising.

From Petitti sucks, to statements like this...........speaks volumes about your character, knowing fullwell he's got family members reading this board.

There are better ways to get your point across than statements like the above.

I'm sorry they had to read it but then again, I'm certain they will simply consider the source..

I think you missed the whole thing. The point is, don't talk about someone's son/loved one relative using that type of rhetoric, especially when you KNOW they will most likely see it here. I have enjoyed reading several of your posts/threads through my time here but you crossed a line here bro. That is what point is trying to be made to you I believe. If someone said that type of stuff to you about your kiddo how would you like it? I don't care the context, but if someone called your kid a loser and said he sucks, would you be happy about that? I know I would not...

Well if my son were playing like a** I'd probably agree with the person.

Listen, I'm not criticizing Petitti's effort. I know he's working his a** off. But working hard isn't gonna guarantee success (if that were true Quincy Carter would actually be a solid QB). You have to work smart. You have to understand not only your negatives, but also know how to work to improve them.

Hell, this may just be a case of coaching. Something tells me we wouldn't be having a problem if Hudson Houch were still our coach.

Pittdawg, I meant no disrespect to you or your son. But my allegiance is with the Dallas Cowboys, not the Petitti's. Your son needs to pick it up, and I think you'd agree. I think Rob would agree. He's probably hit the rookie wall by now (along with DeMarcus Ware and a few other rookies) but the COWBOYS need those rookies to get through it QUICKLY. We have a very important division game next weekend, so it's time to take the diapers off (referring to ALL the rookies) and start improving.

SHut your mouth, Hypocrit.

Better way to get my point across? Take your own advice, Chico.

And my "way" may not be to your liking, but at least I understand the game. Don't like opinionated fans that are rude? Become a ballet fan cuz football isn't for you, Mam.

YOU have a problem interpreting what you read, not me. I said those who post on the game thread (fans, in general) are very fickle. You are the one taking it personally.

What I am suggesting to you is that you look at the play of each and every team member of the Dallas Cowboys. I would venture to say that most, if not all, made some mistakes, missed some assignments, or failed to play to the best of their ability on one play or another. Although Rob's play was not great, Bledsoe was only sacked once in the game. He and the rest of the OL must have done something right. We had some good runs, made some touchdowns, moved the ball and could have won the game. Lighten up.

Says the guy with the obvious Petitti bias (see sig).

I never said Petitti was the ONLY guy making mistakes. Just that his mistakes, and shortcomings, are holding back the offense more then anyone. Yes, even more then Torrin Tucker.

We had some good runs? We averaged like 3 yards a carry. One 11 yard run doesn't outweigh 11 one yard runs. And, again, I'm not even upset about the Denver GAME. I'm upset with Petitti's play the last 3 or 4 games. And it's not just about the numbers (penalties and sacks given up) it's about the mental mistakes. How many of Petitti's mistakes have lead to incomplete passes? I'm concerned about what his play is gonna do to us in the playoffs. What happens when we face the Panthers? I don't mind him getting beat one on one by great DEs every once in a while, but the missed assignments are inexcuseable.

Isn't it time to retire this pathetic thread? Someone here clearly doesn't "get it."

This thread was borderline to begin with and it is NOT getting better IMO.

He and the rest of the OL must have done something right.

We had 32 carries for 85 yards. That's 2.7 yards per carry. That is NOT "doing something right."

Bledsoe was sacked once and under heavy pressure most of the day. That is NOT "doing something right".

I think Petitti is ok physically. He's not the most athletic offensive lineman, but he's ok. If he'd only correct the mental mistakes I think we'd be fine. But talking about it and doing it are two different things.

I've already resigned myself to the fact that the Panthers might whip our butts. That, or it's going to be one of the most conservative offenses you've ever seen with the Cowboys. You put two defensive ends like that against us and it could get ugly.... fast!

Here's an idea, if you don't like the thread, DON'T READ IT. Is that difficult for you? Hey, there's thousands of threads here that I don't like, so I simply don't read them. Try it.

First time poster long time reader.

I've been a 'boys fan since before I can remember and I can tell you this season is probably the best season we have had since we lost the triplets:clap2:. That being said, after reading this and many other forums, I can honestly tell you that this forum has some of the most knowledgable and passionate fans around:bow:, but at the same time due to our past success we are also some of the most unrealistic fans around. We, as cowboy fans, want a pro bowler at every position but it is not going to happen. I know we want instant results but I feel we have the talent base to be competetive for many years and not be one year wonders. Our season has taken many ups and downs and in reality we could have won everyone of our games or we could have been at 5-5, but as Parcells said these things have a way of evenning out. Every position on this team can be criticized for one thing or another. There is not one position that has not shared a piece of the blame for the loses we have had. At the same time there is not only one position that can take credit for the wins we have had. We have won and lost as a team, period. Can we play better, of course just look at the first Philly game. Are we a better team than the past few years, yes look at the Denver game and how we basically traded punches with one of the best teams in the leauge for four quarters only to come out just a few feet wide of a win.

I'm not trying to sugar coat yesterdays loss, it still hurts deep down. We could have won, but we didn't. We are a work in progress that is getting better as the weeks go by. So let's continue to constructivly criticize our players, so that in the end they become a better team for us, but let us do it in a way that is respectful to each other. We are a class organization and as Cowboys fans we should conduct ourselves as such.:toast2:

Sorry to jump on the soap box, its just that I have read other teams forums and "other" Cowboy forums and I do not want this forum turn into one of those like the others.:nono2: This has been a great forum with a lot of great, inciteful and knowlegeable posts and I hope we keep it that way.

Go Cowboys!!!!!!!:lombardi:

Could have, yes. But there's hundreds of posters here that "Could have" criticized QUincy Carter "differently" too a few years ago, but I didn't see you complaing back then.

Just an example. And at least I didn't criticize Rob's tongue, or skin color, or speech impediment, or his intelligence, etc...

You go Sarge!

I for one think Rob is doing good for a rookie. Give him some time in the weight room and some Barry Bonds flax seed oil and he will be our RT for years.

I certainly don't feel that Ware is a bust. even though he really hasn't kept up his early pace. These kids are young and not physically used to the grind of an NFL season. Give them a chance to grow up!

last word from me on this subject.

i think rob has played well, not mistake free, but well. also, if you think he's played poorly the last 4 games, i think you have been watching the houston texans not the cowboys. he struggled against seattle, but played well against ariz., phil., lions. i don't mind criticism, but when you base your views on misinformation than i think you might have another adjenda you're trying to voice.
