Peyton takes 4 million pay cut. Romo should do same.

They would have to pay me in franchises 2 if I had to eat that horrible pizza for commercials. On a side note, the PJ commercials arent half as bad as that nationwide commercial he sings in

He is, far and away, the most commercialized QB of all time.

I suspect PM has more 5 than times more TV ad time than whoever is runner up. Maybe 10x

I know some guys turn down a lot of opportunities, so I bet he has too.
Most almost all of his ads are national and heavily aired. No telling how many millions he's taken in over the years.

I don't think his body is failing him - I think he was mentally broken by the Seahawks and Belichick has always seemed to be inside his head.

He continues to lift and study film fiendishly and harder than anyone else at his position.

so what? does not make up for basically a dead arm. Stop living in the past.

I still can't get over the absurdity of this thread. Romo has an MVP season and is one of the top franchise QB's in the game, but people want him to take less money so Dez and Murray (a running back) can get top dollars for themselves.

I think this hurt him ultimately.

Playing in the nfl vs guys that are "hungry"... He is the ultimate QB of all time. But he is not the ultimate competitive. Things go wrong and he is a house of cards. Rarely recovers when things go bad.

The Seahawks and the Patriots are one thing, but Peyton's last game was against a Colts team that had an average at best defense. He completed only 56% of his passes , averaged only 4.6 yards per pass attempt and 8.1 yards per pass completion in that game.

No its not. Romo is coming off a bad back and missed a game. I love romo but if he wants to help this team win then he needs to take alittle off the top to help. I don't want to restructure a straight pay cut.

I don't think it matters what you want. I think athletes make far too much money and shouldn't be getting paid what they are getting paid ... but it doesn't matter what I think, either.

Restructures are put into place to create cap space, and the players understand this. Romo has no incentive to take a pay cut at this point because this team can be helped if it wants by simply using the restructure built into his contract.

To expect him to take a pay cut instead is asking him to do something unnecessary to get the same job done that a restructure would.

Again, Manning's situation is different because this is likely his last year. There is nowhere to push the guaranteed money he would receive in a restructure. The pay cut is the only way for Denver to free up money from his contract to sign free agents. I think most great QBs faced with that ultimatum would take the pay cut for the opportunity to win.

A restructure would kill this team. Do you not understand a restructure. Pushes salary to a bonus and make it impossible to ever cut him or for him to retire

No, a restructure would not kill this team. Teams don't go, hey, let's build a restructure into this contract that will kill us. Instead, they set up the contracts of those players most likely to play for years to come to be restructured so money can constantly be folded back into the cap when necessary.

The only way a restructure hurts the team is if a player's career is cut shorter than expected, which is why I would rather Smith's contract be restructured before Romo's.

With the cap increasing every year and leftover cap money going into the future........restructuring contracts is at worst like taking a interest free loan

well, I am sure arm strength and accuracy will be off the charts, but I would be concerned about mobility, passing NFL uniform requirements, and fitting in with the team in the locker room? I mean the dynamics and chemistry of the locker room might not be ideal.....

I dont know, might need to draft a QB just in case

I understand all of these concerns and I can identify. I'm a bit older so probably my views on some these same issues are common to your concerns. However, I've been told repeatedly by my own children that things are different these days. Society is now more accepting. IDK, perhaps they are right. I mean, the NFL lets this guy play.

As to the uniforms, here is the proposed "New Look" Uniform for Payton.

Do you still think it was a mistake to pay him that money? Based on performance, and what other top QBs get paid, he is clearly not overpaid. That contract was totally fair and has been money well spent. The top rated QB in the NFL last season. The 2nd highest rated QB in NFL history and he has yet to have a season when his QB rating was less than 90. Now when you look at Carr's contract, then you shake your head.

Yes I do.

Peyton is taking a 4 million pay cut to help the Broncos free up cap space. Time for Romo to do the same. Romo salary will be 17 million this year. If Peyton can take a 4 million pay cut from his salary Romo can do the same. No its not a restructure that pushes money down the road, it's a straight pay cut. Come on Romo free up some cap space to help resign Dez, Murray and others.

This might be the absolute worst post I've even seen in a forum.

Romo has "kicked the can" (his salary) down the road for two years. Played with Broken Ribs, Fractured Back and countless other injuries. He has earned every penny of his contract and then some. I could see it more if Romo was a FORMER number one pick and had been making Millions of Dollar since day one, like Manning. But Romo was un-drafted, didn't get his first "pay day" until after years in the league and has a net worth of about a 1/4 of Manning. Also, they are in different stages of their careers. Romo is still in his prime, Manning is in the Twilight. You should be banned for even suggesting this, especially in the manner you have!

WOW. o_O:thumbdown::huh::banghead::facepalm::omg:

Todd Archer trolling this thread for blog post ideas.

I like Todd but I've seen my ideas and comments on at least one occasion in other places. Some of it near verbatim. I took it as flattery. So I know they troll us for ideas. I suspect others comments show up as well and on occasion I'm pretty sure I see it.

I think Peyton is throwing the ball better now than the recent past. If Romo wants to take a pay cut then great. If not then maybe he'll give me a loan.
