Peyton takes 4 million pay cut. Romo should do same.

I don't think Romo should be asked to take a paycut (largely because the notion is absurd) but I also have no issue with Dez and Murray trying to get as much money as they can get.

Thats an entirely different angle to this. "Romo, I know you've sacrificed you body, now sacrifice some money so Dez and Murray can get paid as much as possible".

Peyton is taking a 4 million pay cut to help the Broncos free up cap space. Time for Romo to do the same. Romo salary will be 17 million this year. If Peyton can take a 4 million pay cut from his salary Romo can do the same. No its not a restructure that pushes money down the road, it's a straight pay cut. Come on Romo free up some cap space to help resign Dez, Murray and others.

Out of all of the players in the league, there has been no bigger hog at the trough than Peyton Manning when it comes to taking as much money as he can. Him giving back 4 million at this point is a pittance compared to the high percentage of cap space for his teams that he has eaten over the years. Of course, he's entitled to doing that, but Manning hasn't been that much of a team player when it comes to salary.

Romo hasn't made close to what Manning has made in his career. I don't begrudge him the amount that he makes one bit.

Manning got that 1st round draft pick Monster contract on top of Max pay the rest of his career. Romo got a contract smaller than that and @ a much later point in his career. Romo is more than justified to stash for retirement when he will likely be carted in his golden years considering last season's "moments of silence" as he laid on the turf nearly motionless (off season fan amnesia:D). We are still one hit away from needing our QB of the future...

Can one of our metric-oriented users create a graph that demonstrates the relationship between indignity in this thread and the quality of fanship? Calm down, people. OP was just posing a scenario in which Romo does what two of the top quarterbacks in the game have done the past two seasons. It's not like someone's starting a bar fight with your boy.

Friggin guy is coming back to take (more beating)
And getting (less money)

He should retire.

People have a problem with the statement he "should" like it's the right thing to do, Manning was forced into it and Bradys discount was mostly smoke and mirrors, but that dude that played through the broken spine is just half assing it.

the OP is so full of crap his eyes have to be really dark brown.

The idea that anyone coming off a MVP type season should take a pay cut makes me sick of so called boys fans.

anytime a romo paycut gets brought up on here people get real sensitive but these same people have no issues telling dez and demarco to take pennies on the dollar or scram.

Because this is the Romozone. Don't you know Romo can win 13 games a year with scrubs around him..;)

Sure, to say he "should" do it is pretty silly, but it's not any worse than saying the team "should" sign Suh. It's a message board. People throw around all sorts of goofy ideas. No reason to get indignant over it, I guess is my point. I disagree about Brady's discount being smoke and mirrors, though. I believe he only counts an average of $15 million against the cap the next 3 years. Nothing smoke and mirrors about those types of cap savings.

It'd strictly be a personal decision if Romo might decide to take a pay cut but I wouldn't hold my breath on it. Tony is winding down a long and demanding career and isn't under any obligation to give back what Jerry willingly decided to part with. As much as I'd love to see it happen, it'd be 100% acceptable if it didn't. NFL careers are short as it is and Romo's taken more than his share of beatings without so much as a whimper. He's very deserving.

I was listening to Philly sports talk radio today and all I could do was SMH at the lack of any coherent rational fan speak. Now I read thru this thread, and all I can do is SMH at some posters.

Brady's pay cut is very real. He went from averaging 15m a year to 9m a year.
