PFF Grades - LBs

I think with a lot of these guys…we are hard on them without knowing what the rest of the league has.
That happens alot, especially with offensive line. I rememer in 2019 everyone was calling Tyron a "penalty machine" yet he literally had less penalties than 6 (yes 6) of the tackles that had made the previous years pro bowl........ (lol)

Canady played against the eagles and gave up a huge catch and had 2 penalties on the same play. How you hold a receiver than get a pass interference and still allow the receiver to catch the ball.

Canady isn't better than Brown right now. Other than week 1, Brown hasn't been bad.

As far as Steele being better than Collins, that's completely false as well.

Liking a player more than another player doesn't mean that they are better. You just like them

Agree with you on Canady. I think Brown is the better choice and safer choice. I mentioned him because many here want(ed) to go with him.

I disagree with you on Steele and Collins at this point in their play. Collins is dropping and Steele is rising.

PFF is skewed.

They grade Jaylon high for the amount of tackles he makes every game, which usually leads the team each game, but they fail to mention many of those tackles happen after the opponent has gained 7+ yards on him.

"Hey, look, Jaylon made another tackle!" ...... Yes, but after the RB rain for 7+ yards against him.

It's official...PFF grades are seriously flawed!!! Go on Twitter right now and see a clip of #9 taking himself out of his gap unblocked allowing a 10+ yard carry... imagine if PHI ran the ball more.

I don't pay for access to PFF, but here's a link to the LB grades so far for the season. In the link, the top 3 are shown, then the rest are in some random order. Just click the player's name and you will get their overall grade and rank.

Parsons is #3 overall
Jaylon is #20 overall
LVE is #67 overall
Neal is #66 overall

A couple that I also found interesting:
Myles Jack is #51 overall
Anthony Hitchens is #63 overall

Wasn’t Neal a Covid scratch . Can’t help if your not playing . Hopefully he suits up for Carolina

Collins is dropping cause off the field but on the field Collins is the superior player and it's not even close. Maybe Steele becomes better but no way, shape or form is Steele better than Collins.....at this moment.

All that being said i like the development of Steele, however he isn't better than Collins as a RT.

we don't know who Cox is yet, but there is no chance Cox isn't better in coverage or in space. He should be out there over Jaylon in 3rd and long situations. Early downs? I'm not sure what Cox will be exactly in those situations
In coverage fair enough. But let’s don’t act like Cox didn’t have his flaws coming into the draft. He was a flawed guy too just not in coverage where he excels at the college level.

Quinn had no choice with Odiggy. Odiggy is playing lights out and there just isn’t many other choices with DT. Parsons is a no-brainer.

Is Bohanna better than Hamilton right now?

Canady vs Brown? Looks to me like Quinn is going with the safer pick right now.

Right now, I think Quinn is going with the ‘safer’ choice in Jaylon over Cox. I expect that to change soon. You do have to admit it would be embarrassing to Jaylon if he is on the bench.

I also think Steele is better than Collins right now but it took a suspension for Steele to get playing time.

I think NFL coaches prefer to go with the tried and true over the new early but eventually get to best player.
Canady is a slot corner so I think it’s Lewis that’s getting play over him than it is Brown. And Parsons wasn’t a no brainer. Let’s be honest the reason why they are allowed to play Parsons on the edge is because Jaylon hasn’t been a complete dud there. If he was truly hurting them like people say they would’ve been put Cox in for him. It’s not embarrassing for Jaylon. He and LVE got minimal snaps week 1. They have shown they aren’t afraid to sit them.

Yeah and it’s not even fair to Steele to compare them. He’s a second year pro and he was a project. Like you said there’s no comparison.

Steeles comp is Nseke.

Exactly. A great example of it.

True but PFF does not have a dog house like this place does. Once a guy gets into the dog house around here it matters little of good play that player may have. He is dirt, he is the worse, I don't like his how he does this or that. It really becomes almost personal. I will say Jaylon as not lived up to what I would have hoped for and he has had some poor games and deserve the heat he has taken but for him or any player when they do positive things to help this team that should also be acknowledge but around here that is like pulling teeth
And all too often the money contributes to the negativity. But the money has zero to do with the on field play. Sure, it affects the cap and therefore what the team will do in FA, but the reality is that a team, this team, can do whatever they truly want to do in FA.

Fans, certain fans in particular, railed on Crawford because of his contract. But Crawford, save for his last year, was a solid contributor. Not spectacular, but solid and flexible. What he got paid wouldn’t have stopped them from doing something in FA.

In coverage fair enough. But let’s don’t act like Cox didn’t have his flaws coming into the draft. He was a flawed guy too just not in coverage where he excels at the college level.

In 5 preseason games did you see any flaws in Cox? I didn’t notice any. I know he looked better than Jaylon in everything.

You speak of other peoples’ biases but then assume PFF’s rankings are indicative of Jaylon’s play whom you of course think is a good player.

What do you think of Jaylon’s 54.2 grade from PFF in 2020?
I have said that Jaylon has been deserving of the criticism he has received, that both he and LVE stunk it 2020. Do I want them to be good players? Of course, because it will only help the team. But I won't get on here everyday and **** on a player who is playing well overall because of a bad play here and there. And that is what happens to Jaylon every week. People can't acknowledge the good play with him.

Of course he did. Jaylon was faxing starters….Cox was facing backups and guys off the street. Hell Cox looked better than Parsons in preseason lol. That means nothing.

Yes, since Twitter is more qualified at football analytics than a site based around football analysis. It's easy to cherry pick a play or two and scream at the top of your lungs. Dude had a bad play. Everyone has them. He's been pretty decent overall this year regardless of what Twitter says.

Jaylon was playing in the 2nd quarter of some preseason games. Cox played a lot in preseason, even the whole game against Jax.

I didn’t think Jaylon was any good. Thought LVE would be graded higher.
