Showers hasn't shown he is ready either. Won't know who can handle anything until preseason.

I watched him today, looked good to me. They are off tomorrow (Wednesday) so I'll have to pay closer attention on Thursday.

This is a story? lol...Cowboys could pursue Foles.

If PFT were a weather website: "It might rain today. Then again, it might not."
Yeah, Jerry could put on a tutu and field punts then go to a scrip club after practice and make it rain.

Doesn't mean it will happen.

We don't have a backup QB on the roster, and Nick Foles is not an answer.

I might talk to the Browns about Austin Davis at this point, if Moore is really out for an extended period of time. Who else is circling the bottom of a roster who has a few starts and might shake loose sometime soon?

Not really, he will get reps until Goff takes over soon. Trade for him, he would be a good insurance policy.

That's what the 'wink' was about. But they're not trading their erstwhile starter at this point in their offseason just to help us out. I'd love him as an upgrade at QB2 if he were an option, though.

Missed the wink, on my phone

I would do whatever it takes within reason to get him by the end of camp :D

There are several candidates that might easily fill the void that Moore leaves but the question is whether the FO might be agreeable to welcoming another who isn't currently in house. Considering what the current tendencies of our FO indicates, it seems a question as to whether or not they will decide to go against Linehan's wish to protect Moore's status or to take a chance on an outsider. I'm thinking it might come down to whether or not they have enough confidence in Showers to step into the backup role if necessary. Expense will be a factor as well. I think they'll decide to stay put.

I can see them staying put, too. I can't stand the thought, though, with Jameil Showers and Dak Prescott the backups. Even with Moore back, he'll miss the preseason, and he's not ready to start in this league as it is. He's best shot was getting the reps he's now going to miss.

Yeah, anything might happen with our FO being as conservative as they've been of late. It'll likely come down to a question of if Showers improves sufficiently to handle the mental responsibilities or if Moore is able to return to health capably enough to handle it. It's pretty much a mess.

I got nothing in particular against Showers, but there's no way to get him the game experience he'd need in time. We pretty much have to trade for somebody at this point unless Moore is able to get back a lot sooner than is currently being suggested.

Well, Broaddus begs to differ about Showers but I'm not too certain he knows much more than many of us. Knowing Jerry's reluctance to bring outside help in and Stephen's frugal inclinations, perhaps it's a tossup between staying put with what we have and taking on outside help. In any case, it'll be interesting, if not entertaining to see what develops.

Yeah, I know he likes him. Hey, I hope he works out. But when it comes to QBs, I don't have huge regard for Broaddus' guesswork. He does know other positions fairly well, though.

But even if Showers has what it takes, he still has zero experience. You can't really get a guy ready in a preseason, so he's a developmental guy in my book for at least another season.

I question what this staff is able to do with outside QBs that come in and attempt to absorb this offensive system in the time they'd be allotted. At least, Showers has had the advantage of lots of time spent getting familiarized with it, whereas an outside QB wouldn't. Suffice it to say, I'll be open minded to practically anything that the staff decides. They're way more familiar with our QB prospects than we are and will also have the advantage of seeing firsthand how Showers does and Moore's rehab progresses. In the end, I'm just hoping things work out for the best for the team.

Cowboys backup quarterback Kellen Moorewas carted off the practice field Tuesday, and Cowboys owner Jerry Jones confirmed that Moore suffered a broken right ankle.

Jones did not address how the team would handle the absence of Moore going forward, but the injury will invite speculation that the Cowboys will pursue free agent quarterbackNick Foles.

Cowboys could pursue Foles after Kellen Moore suffers broken ankle
Yeah. They could. I would. There's the money you would've spent on Purple McLain.
