For those STILL wondering why Jerry said no to Nick Foles...

With four words, owner and general manager Jerry Jones cut through that when it came to the possibility of the Cowboys looking at Nick Foles as a backup to Tony Romo.

"Foles isn't an option," Jones said.

And why not?

"We can't get him any snaps," Jones said. "We got four that are going to get snaps."

Circumstances have changed so he is certainly allowed to change his view on Foles. It's not like he came out and said Foles sucked and wouldn't help this team in any way.

Honestly if Romo goes down, unless you get a Jon Kitna type, why not just see what Prescott can do.

There arent any Jon Kitna types available and if Romo goes down the season is pretty much done anyways

Even the 'great' Jon Kitna couldn't win in Dallas, he lost more games than he ever won. The sad thing is that everyone else was so much worse, and really didn't win at all, he's more highly thought of than he should be.

And I'm with you, if Romo goes down, the team won't win anyway. Might as well get the best look at your QB of the future candidate and know what you have or don't have before next year's draft so you can act accordingly.

So if Tom Brady is available, he'd give the same line? "We can't get him any snaps." Because that's what you're implying here. As if there are only a certain number and the quarterbacks on the roster get all of them - with no exceptions. Nothing can possibly be changed about that. Nobody cut, released, traded, nothing. Nothing the Cowboys can do about it, those "snaps" are just gone.

Sure. Look like even bigger idiots by running out to sign the guy you had "no interest" in last week.
Can't have a progress stopper who doesn't know this intricate 7th grade offense and with all that talent behind Romo w/prospects like Moore and Dak? Locked in, no way!. Okay, sign Foles.

Foles didn't suddenly 'get better'. If your evaluation was worth anything, you still believe that. You thought Kellen Moore was better, fine, while I disagree, I can see their position. But to now do a 180 due to Moore's injury? No. If things were even close in their rankings, Foles should have been brought in to at least compete to show he was a better option, but they "couldn't get him the snaps" to find out.

From what I had read, Showers was outplaying Moore anyway. Give him his chance.

As poor a performer as Foles has been since leaving Philadelphia, he'd be an instant upgrade over Moore.

Lmao. If that's what you took from it then no explanation is going to get you to understand what Jerry was saying to the media. I'm not saying Foles is the answer. But when you have 2 young QBs that need reps and Moore there isn't any room. It was a nice way of Jerry answering the question without completely crapping on Foles "just in case". Just my opinion anyway.

Yeah, I'm not exactly going to take 'not understanding Jerry' as a slight. It's either nonsense or an outright lie if it came out of his mouth. 'Not understanding' is a compliment, thanks.

If Foles isn't a better option than any of the three, he's worthless. If he can't "get snaps" over any of the three yesterday, he's not worth bothering with today either. He's either talented and capable or he isn't. His abilities didn't change overnight. Just my opinion.

Well bummed about kellan, wanted to see him play in PS having had a full camp as #2.
But since he is out, I would rather see showers be bkup than bring in foles.

I think foles would not do any better than weeden or cassel.
Even dak would be better , they need a bkup that can run and scramble.

We can waste games on foles finding out he wont work, like we did with the others
last year, or just go to the young guys.
I think you use the young guys, and find out what you have in them.
See them in real games, is best way to evaluate.

most believe if tony goes down again season is over, so why not look at showers
and dak.

It all comes down to whether you think Dak or Jameill can hold down the fort for two games in the event of a short term injury. Neither will be a good solution if Romo is out longer than that. The question then becomes whether Foles would be. I honestly feel a Vick would be better suited but I dont ever want him in a Dallas uni,

I respect that and I agree. Well put.
